Glidden Ralston suffered a heart-breaking loss on Friday, giving up a late score after confusion allowed Baxter to get the ball back in the final minute, trailing 18-14. The Bolts took advantage and scored the game winning touchdown with 0:11 left. The game see-sawed back and forth with both teams holding the lead in each half. Glidden Ralston struck first midway through the 4th quarter with Colby Wallace hitting Dawson Majerus behind the defense for a touchdown with 8:01 left in the quarter. A penalty nullified the 2-piont conversion putting the Wildcats up 6-0. Baxter answered with a steady drive, scoring with 3;26 left in the 1st quarter, putting them ahead 8-6. Both defenses settled in, pitching a shutout into the 3rd quarter. Glidden Ralston grabbed the lead, scoring with 6:24 left in the 3rd quarter, taking a 12-8 lead. The Wildcats trailed 12-8 going into the 4th quarter. Baxter took went back on top with a touchdown with 5:05 left, pushing ahead 14-12. The Wildcats had a nice drive, scoring with 1:56 left, taking a 18-14 lead. They missed the 2-point conversion that would have extended the lead to six. The Wildcats defense forced a stop, getting the ball back. Glidden Ralston had a chance to run the clock out but confusion on the timeouts remaining for Baxter allowed the Bolts to stop the clock and get the ball back. They took advantage, scoring with 0:11 left to win 20-18.
Baxter had success throwing the ball with 151-yards and three touchdowns. Perrin Sulzle added 181-yards rushing to his passing stats. Colby Wallace paced the Wildcats offense, rushing for 171-yards on 28 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Dawson Majerus caught 4 passes for 77-yards and a touchdown. Landon Rohrbeck and Colby Wallace led the Wildcats with 7 tackles each.
Glidden Ralston falls to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in district play. They travel to Collins-Maxwell on Friday.
