Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Audubon Stays Undefeated With Road Win Against St. Edmond

The Audubon Wheelers picked up a big 8-man District 9 win as they went on the road Friday night and beat St. Edmond of Fort Dodge. The ball game was physical from the start, with both teams playing sound defense. The Wheelers started with the ball, and on their first offensive play, Aaron Olsen took the ball to the endzone on a 49-yard rushing touchdown. The Wheelers would add another touchdown in the first quarter as they would take an 18-0 lead going to the second. Austin Christensen was outstanding from his linebacker position on defense for Audubon. Christensen had double-digit tackles and added a pick-six in the second quarter as Audubon led 30-8 at the half. St. Edmond never went away and always stayed within striking distance in the second half. Aaron Olsen added another rushing touchdown to his total in the third quarter as the Wheeler’s lead continued to grow. Audubon would hold on to a multi-touchdown lead going to the fourth quarter at 36-16. Audubon would add a touchdown early in the fourth quarter as they would lead 44-16. St. Edmond added a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, but Audubon went on to win 44-22.

Aaron Olsen had six total touchdowns in the win. Olsen had 161 yards on the ground with three touchdowns. Through the air, Olsen went 3-4 for 29 yards and two touchdowns. Olsen also recorded two catches for 39 yards and a touchdown. Carson Wessel battled a lower leg injury but still ran for 85 yards on 12 carries. Wessel also went 4-8 through the air for 86 yards and a touchdown. Five different players caught a ball in the win for Audubon. Austin Christensen was outstanding on defense as he recorded 17 tackles, 14 of which were solo tackles. Christensen also had two sacks and three tackles for loss. Colton Hanson had a great all-around game for the Wheelers as well. Hanson caught a touchdown, blocked a punt, and had two two-point conversions. With the win, Audubon improved to 4-0. The Wheelers are back in action on Friday against Coon Rapids-Bayard.
