IKM-Manning led two sets and one and had match point three times in the fifth set but fell inches short of earning their first Western Iowa Conference win. The Wolves played well, showing a lot of heart, battling back in set one to win, fighting back in set five to give themselves a chance. They hit .152 with three players finishing in double digits in kills. Addisyn Bandow had a team high 19 kills, hitting .175, Keagan Eischeid had 15 kills, hitting .205 and Grace Carroll hit .206, finishing with 13 kills. All three of them had moments where they took over for the Knights. Karlee Arp worked the ball to her hitters, finishing with 41 assists. The defense was solid, hustling all over the court to keep balls alive. Anna Stangl was especially strong in serve receive, allowing Arp to have multiple hitters to choose from. She added a gritty effort on defense with 34 digs while leading the Wolves in aces with 4. A couple stretches where IKM-Manning struggled in serve receive and some missed serves in key situations helped Missouri Valley squeeze out the win.
IKM-Manning rallied twice in the opening set, falling behind 5-1 early before Anna Stangl tied the set at 7 with an ace serve. The Wolves grabbed a lead, using a 6-0 run to take a 13-9 lead on an Addisyn Bandow kill. Missouri Valley responded going up 16-15, eventually leading 22-17. Keagan Eischeid sparked the Wolves rally with a kill and IKM-Manning tied the set at 22 and went ahead on an kill by Karlee Arp. Addisyn Bandow ended it with a kill and the Wolves won 25-23. McKenna Benton served an early ace in set two and Grace Carroll tied it at 4 with a kill. The Wolves grabbed a 6-5 lead, building it to 16-11. Missouri Valley closed set two with a 14-1 run to win 25-17, tying the match at a set apiece.
The Wolves went up early in set three, leading 2-0 but Missouri Valley quickly rallied, taking a 6-4 lead. Addisyn Bandow pulled the Wolves within 9-7 and kept them close with another kill, making it 11-9. The Wolves hung tight, grabbing the lead at 14-13. Karlee Arp had a big kill to push the lead to 17-15 and IKM-Manning pulled away with Arp putting them up 23-17 with an ace. The Wolves took a 2-1 lead, taking set three 25-19. Missouri Valley controlled set four, going up 3-0 early and running out to a 13-3 lead. The Wolves made a late run with Keagan Eischeid cutting it to 20-17 with a kill but the Big Red held on to win 25-21.
Missouri Valley led 3-0 early in set five and pushed it to 5-1 before a kill from Keagan Eischeid got the Wolves started. Grace Carroll pulled them within 7-5 and Addisyn Bandow put IKM-Manning on top 8-7. Bandow had a nice stretch with three kills as the Wolves led 11-10 but Missouri Valley squeezed ahead 12-11. Ella Langel had a huge kill putting the Wolves up 14-13, giving them match point. Missouri Valley tied it at 14, Grace Carroll had a kill and the Wolves had a second match point. The set was tied again at 15 and Carroll again had a kill to give IKM-Manning a match point. Missouri Valley kept the Wolves from finishing the match and scored the final three points to win 18-16, taking the match three sets to two.
Along with the stats from the opening paragraph of the story, Grace Carroll added 23 digs and 3 blocks, Karlee Arp had 13 digs, Katelyn Bandow added 2 blocks and Olivia Linde added 12 digs with Keagan Eischeid having 16 digs.
The Wolves fall to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in the Western Iowa Conference. They head to the Carroll Tournament on Saturday.

South Central Calhoun suffered a tough loss, having taken a two-one sets lead. They dropped a close fourth set before falling 15-13 in the final set. The first-three sets weren’t real close with South Central Calhoun taking sets one and three 25-16 but dropping set two 25-14. Jayci Graeve led the Titans in the loss with 13 kills to go with 7 digs. Brenna McAlister added 10 kills, 8 digs and continues to serve well with 5 aces, Norah Riedesel added 6 kills with her 30 assists and a pair of aces. Alexa Holm had 7 digs, Sadie Wheelock added 6 kills and Macie Dorman finished with 6 digs.

South Central Calhoun earned a win to split their matches on Thursday, sweeping past Emmetsburg, giving them their second loss of the season. The Titans were dominant in all three sets, running away in set one to a 25-9 win. The Titans had success with their serve, giving the E-Hawks trouble. Jayci Graeve was huge at the net, leading them with 16 kills while adding 7 digs. Norah Riedesel dished out 31 assists and 4 digs, finding five different hitters. Brenna McAlister added 9 kills and 2 more aces. Sadie Wheelock continues to show growth as she gains experience, finishing with 6 kills and 2 blocks. Kaitlyn O’Neill had 5 kills and Alexa Holm added 6 digs and a pair of aces. Brooklyn Pruitt had a big game with her serve, leading the team with 4 aces.
The split of games moves the Titans to 18-6 as they head to the Carroll Tournament on Saturday.

The Wildcats battled hard but fell short in all three sets on Thursday, losing 25-21 and 25-22 in the final two sets. Glidden Ralston had a strong night passing, led by Ashlynn Tigges with 15 digs, Kassidy Wenck and Olivia Squibb both having 12 digs and Allison Snyder having 10 digs. Lauren Hulsing paced their attack on offense with 7 kills with Ashlynn Tigges adding 5 kills. MaKenna Wiederien making her fifth start at setter finished with 14 assists. Kassidy Wenck added 3 aces.
The Wildcats fell to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Coon Rapids Bayard on Tuesday.

The East Sac County Raiders picked up a Twin Lakes Conference win on the road at a triangular against Manson Northwest Webster. The Raiders cruised in the first set as they picked up a 25-11 win against the Cougars. Jordin Carroll was great at distributing the ball in the win, as she recorded over 30 assists. In the second set, ESC would pick up another win, taking a 2-0 advantage and winning the set 25-17. The third set was the closest as it was back and forth. The Raiders would walk away with a 27-25 win as they beat Manson NW Webster 3-0.
In the win, Addisen Ehler recorded a team-high 19 kills. Katelyn Schmitt chipped in six kills for the Raiders. Jordin Carroll did a great job of getting the ball to the Raider hitters, recording 32 assists. As a team, the ESC recorded 33 kills. Emerson Ludwig led East Sac in blocks with three. The Raiders picked up seven as a team.

The East Sac County Raiders picked up two wins on Thursday as they rolled by Storm Lake St. Mary’s. The Raiders won every set by double digits, while St. Mary’s never reached double-digit points in a set. The Raiders opened the match with a 25-9 win to take a 1-0 lead. ESC would dominate the second set, picking up a 25-8 win. The Raiders completed the sweep by winning set three 25-9.
Jordin Carroll continued her great night as she recorded a team-high 19 assists in the win. Addisen Ehler chipped in a team-high nine kills. As a team, the Raiders recorded 22 kills. Ehler also led the team in digs with six. With the win, the Raiders improve to 13-6. East Sac County is back in action Monday as they host IKM-Manning and Coon Rapids-Bayard.

The Audubon Wheelers fell at home on Thursday to number three Riverside in three straight sets. The Wheeler’s serve receive struggled in the first set as they fell down early and went on to lose 25-10 to open the match. Audubon worked the ball to Harlow Miller and let her attack at the net during the match. Audubon jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second set. Riverside would tie it up at 6-6. The Bulldogs took a lead at 10-9 and never looked back. Riverside would win the second set 25-14 and take a 2-0 lead over the Wheelers. Audubon would jump out to an early lead in the third set at 3-0. The set would start back and forth as it was tied six different times. Riverside took a lead at 10-9 and held the lead. Audubon would lose the set at 25-16 and fall to Riverside 3-0.
Harlow Miller led the way with 13 kills in the loss for Audubon. As a team, Audubon had 17 kills. Anna Larsen dished out a team-high 15 assists for the Wheelers. Miller also led the team in digs with nine. Miller added a team-high two blocks in the loss. As a team, Audubon recorded three aces. With the loss, Audubon falls to 5-8. The Wheelers are back in action on Saturday at the Carroll tournament.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders stay undefeated as they sweep Ar-We-Va in three straight sets on Thursday in a Rolling Valley Conference matchup. The Crusaders won the first set by double digits, picking up a 25-13 win. The second set was back and forth as CRB would pick up a 25-19 win to take a 2-0 lead over Ar-We-Va. Double digits decided the third set as CRB would complete the sweep, picking up a 25-15 win and a 3-0 victory.
The Crusaders played a great all-around game. Malia Clayburg led CRB in kills with ten. Ashtyn Klocke also had a great night at the net, picking up eight kills. As a team, the Crusaders picked up 33 kills. Freshman setter Amelia Cook recorded a team-high 24 assists. CRB was great serving the ball, recording 12 aces as a team.
Annalee Wittrock and Gabbie Hundling led the Rockets in kills, each recording three. As a team, Ar-We-Va picked up ten kills in the loss. Amber Ragaller recorded a team-high nine assists. Hundling also led the Rockets in blocks, with two.
With the win, Coon Rapids-Bayard improves to 10-0. With the loss, Ar-We-Va falls to 0-10. The Crusaders are back in action on Saturday at the OABCIG tournament. Ar-We-Va is back in action on Saturday at the West Harrison tournament.

The Paton Churdan Rockets started great but ended up getting swept at home to Woodbine on Thursday. Paton Churdan came out aggressive in the first set but unfortunately lost a close set 25-20. In the second set, Woodbine would pick up a 25-11 win to go up 2-0 over the Rockets. Woodbine won the third set by double digits as they won 25-14 and 3-0 over Paton Churdan. Mia Russell and Alivya Smith picked three kills each in the loss. Russell also led the Rockets in aces with three. Maggie Reed had a team-high ten digs. With the loss, Paton Churdan falls to 2-4. The Rockets are back in action on Tuesday against Exira-EHK.
