Kuemper got big nights from Jarin Hoffman in the running game, Carson Kanne and Braxton Vonnahme in the receiving game and Brock Badding threw for three touchdown passes as they outlast AHSTW 41-33. The Knights never trailed and led by as many as 14, three times but were unable to pull away and struggled to slow down Luke Sternberg for the Vikings. Sternberg ran for 235-yards and four touchdowns, replacing Camden Soukup at quarterback. Soukup didn’t play due to injury, forcing the Vikings to run a wildcat look most of the game. Kuemper kept the Vikings at bay, scoring each time AHSTW scored and pulled within a touchdown. Kuemper was balanced on offense, running for 180-yards on 29 attempts while passing for 254-yards on 26 passes. The Vikings countered with 291-yards on the ground and 137-yards passing.
The 1st half featured big scoring play after big scoring play with both teams scoring on 3rd and long or 4th down in four of the first six possessions. Kuemper struck first with Brock Badding finding Carson Kanne for an 85-yard touchdown down the middle of the field. The two connected on 3rd and 15 with Kanne breaking a couple tackles early, then racing to the end zone, making a Viking miss near the 5-yard line. The Vikings answered with Luke Sternberg rambling for a 69-yard touchdown on 3rd down, tying the game at 6 with 6:03 left in the 1st quarter. On the Knights next possession, Badding hit Braxton Vonnahme for a 36-yard touchdown, putting them ahead 13-6 with 3:15 left in the 1st quarter. It didn’t take long for the Vikings to respond, scoring with 1:20 left in the quarter on a 32-yard run by Sternberg. Both teams punted on their next possession and Kuemper grabbed the lead with Brock Badding finding Carson Kanne for a 29-yard touchdown on 4th down. The Knights defense made the stop of the game, holding the Vikings on downs at midfield. Kuemper turned it into a 14-point lead with Jarin Hoffman scoring on a 2-yard run with 4:05 left in the half. AHSTW responded with Dayton Osbahr replacing Sternberg at quarter and hitting Kayden Baxter for a 44-yard touchdown with 0:58 left in the half. The Knights held a 27-20 lead at half with the Vikings getting the ball to start the 2nd half.
Braxton Vonnahme picked off Luke Sternberg to start the 2nd half and Kuemper was pinned at their own 1-yard line. They leaned on Jarin Hoffman an the ground game and he delivered. Hoffman had several big runs, ending the drive with a 10-yard run, putting the Knights up 34-20 with 6:23 left in the 3rd quarter. AHSTW responded with a 12-play drive. Luke Sternberg scored on a 3-yard run with 0:27 left in the 3rd quarter, pulling the Vikings within 34-27. Kuemper put together another great drive, leaning on the ground game with Tate Biert scoring right up the middle on a 4-yard run, capping a 11-play drive. Kuemper led 41-27 with 7:38 left. After a pair of punts, the Vikings got the ball on their own 42-yard line and went on a slow methodical drive, scoring with 0:48 left on a 1-yard run by Luke Sternberg. The drive ate up over 4:00. Kuemper recovered the onside kick and were able to kneel on the ball, holding on for a 41-33 win.
Jarin Hoffman had 167-yars on the ground with a pair of touchdowns for Kuemper, while Brock Badding threw for 254-yards and 3 touchdowns. Carson Kanne caught 4 passess for 128-yards and a pair of touchdowns. Braxton Vonnahme added 7 catches for 86-yards and a touchdown. Kent Sanders led the defense with 10.5 tackles with Tate Bieret adding 8 tackles and 2 sacks.
