The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders only scored in two quarters but came away with a big district win Friday night over Baxter. The Crusaders were fantastic on the ground, totaling 310 rushing yards in the win. CRB was able to get a couple of touchdowns in the first quarter to take an early four-point lead at 12-8 going to the second. Baxter would add a touchdown in the second quarter, and they would go into the locker rooms up 14-12. Neither team scored in the third quarter as the Bolts held on to a two-point lead at 14-12. The Crusader’s physical running attack showed up in the fourth quarter as they scored 16 points. The Crusaders would come back and win 28-20 over Baxter.
CRB ran the ball for over eight yards a clip in the win on Friday. Caden Oswald was the leading rusher with 144 yards on 17 carries with a couple of touchdowns. Ethan Bauer recorded ten carries for 96 yards and a touchdown. Wyatt Oswald also carried the ball ten times for 70 yards. The Oswald brothers were also outstanding on defense. Caden recorded a team-high 14 tackles, while Wyatt added 11 tackles. Eli McAlister had a pick-six on defense in the win. With the win, CRB improved to 1-1. The Crusaders are back in action on Friday against Collins-Maxwell.
