Audubon dominated their first district game of the season, pulling away in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Royals 16-0. The Wheelers defense had a strong performance, holding Colo-Nesco to 83-yards rushing and 28-yards passing while intercepting them twice. The Audubon offense was able to establish the ground game as well as the pass game with Carson Wessel throwing for 106-yards on just eight passes including finding Austin Christensen for a touchdown. The Wheelers ground game was balanced with Wessel running for 176-yards and 5 touchdowns while Aaron Olsen added 127-yards on the ground.

Aaron Olsen set up the Wheelers first touchdown of the game with a 46-yard scamper to the Royals 13-yard line. Carson Wessel punched it in three plays later and the Wheelers were up 8-0 late in the 1st quarter. Olsen did it again on the Royals next possession, intercepting a pass and returning it to the Colo-Nesco 27-yard line. The Wheelers capitalized early in the 2nd quarter with Carson Wessel scoring on a 12-yard run. The Wheelers were up 16-0 and appeared to be in control of the game but the Royals answered. They scored on a 18-yard run by Jack Angell, cutting the Wheelers lead to 16-8 with 8:55 left in the half. The Wheelers responded with a nice drive, starting at their own 15-yard line. Aaron Olsen broke off a 43-yard run to set up another Carson Wessel touchdown run, this time from 4-yards out. The Wheelers led 22-8 at half.

The Wheelers got the ball to start the 2nd half and moved the ball down field. The drive was saved when Clayton VanAernam fell on a fumble to maintain possession. Carson Wessel capped the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run and the Wheelers were up 30-8 late in the 3rd quarter. Colo-Nesco was driving on their first possession of the 3rd quarter but Austin Christensen came up with an interception and the Wheelers took advantage. Carson Wessel broke off a 45-yard run to push the lead to 38-8 with 1:19 left in the 3rd quarter. Wessel would connect with Austin Christensen for a touchdown in the 4th quarter to cap the scoring.

The Wheelers are 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in district play heading into their home game on Friday against Exira-EHK.
