Service runs in all three sets helped East Sac notch a home win against Pocahontas Area, their 28th straight win against the Indians since 2008. All three sets were tight until the middle when the Raiders pulled away. Set one was tied seven times and had four lead changes with the Raiders taking the lead for good at 14-13. Kendall Quirk helped them extend their lead with a 7-0 run at the service line. The second set was tied four times with three lead changes until Ella Wilson gave the Raiders the advantage, serving an ace and a 4-0 run to push the Raiders advantage to 16-12. Wilson and Katelyn Schmitt both had service runs in set three as the Raiders pulled away from a 9-9 tie to win 25-14. The third set was tied six times and had 2 lead changes. Addisen Ehler carried the bulk of the work at the net carrying the offense while Katelyn Schmitt and Kendall Quirk had good nights defensively at the net.

Addisen Ehler had two early kills for the Raiders as they built a 4-2 lead in set one but the Indians rallied and went ahead 6-4. Katelyn Schmitt tied the set at 7 with a kill and East Sac grabbed an 8-7 lead. The set changed leads twice more with Pocahontas Area going up 10-9 and East Sac taking an 11-10 lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Pocahontas Area tied the set at 12 and 14 but East Sac pulled away with Kendall Quirk at the service line as they kept the Indians out of system. Addisen Ehler had a kill, extending the lead to 21-14, then ended the set with another kill.

Pocahontas Area led twice in set two, going up 1-0 and 12-11 but the Raiders behind Addisen Ehler built a 8-2 lead, then rallied down 12-11 to take the lead for good at 13-12. Ella Wilson had an ace that sparked a run and the Raiders went up 16-12. Katelyn Schmitt added a kill and an ace as the Raiders pulled away, leading 20-13. Addisen Ehler added a pair of kills late and the Raiders were up 2-0.

Addisen Ehler put the Raiders up for good in set three with a kill, making it 4-3. Pocahontas Area tied the set at 7 and 9 but Ella Wilson had a pair of aces and Kendall Quirk had a kill and the Raiders built a 16-9 lead. The Raiders ended the match with three straight points on a kill and an ace from Addisen Ehler and Jordin Carroll sealed the win with her second kill of the match.

Addisen Ehler finished with a team high 19 kills to go with 6 digs. Jordin Carroll had 29 assists and 5 digs while Katelyn Schmitt had 6 aces and 4 kills. Ella Wilson finished with 3 aces and 6 digs and Kendall Quirk had 3 blocks and 5 kills.

The Raiders improved to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the Twin Lakes. They head to Ridge View Tournament on Saturday.

South Central Calhoun earned a dominant win, controlling the first-two sets before GTRA hung tough in the third set. The Titans used an aggressive serve along with a good night passing to keep
GTRA off balance. Norah Riedesel had a team high 5 aces, helping them finish with 14 as a team. Riedesel ended the match with 19 assists, feeding four different hitters, led by Jayci Graeve with 9 kills. Sadie Wheelock had 5 kills with Brenna McAlister finishing with 3 kills and Nicole Meyer adding 2 kills. Olivia Wiese had 3 aces with Macie Dorman and Brenna McAlister each having 2 aces.

The Titans serve was a key in their sweep of the Panthers on Thursday. They finished the match with 20 aces, using their strong serve to keep Storm Lake St Mary’s out of system. Nicole Meyer and Brooklyn Pruitt both had 4 aces to lead the way, followed by 3 aces from Brenna McAlister and Morgan McChesney. Sadie Wheelock had a team high 7 kills with Jayci Graeve adding 6 kills and Brenna McAlister and Kaitlyn O’Neill both having 4 kills. Norah Riedesel finished the match with 21 assists along with 2 aces. Riedesel and Olivia Wiese both had 4 digs.

The pair of wins improved the Titans to 4-3 overall as they prepare to host their own tournament on Saturday.

The Spartans earned a win on Thursday, rolling to a pair of wins in a sweep over the Wildcats. Taryn Petersen led them in both the front and back row with 3 kills and 5 digs. Jaelynn Petersen added a pair of kills with Riley Miller finishing with 3 assists and 2 aces. Brooklyn Flathers added 2 assists and Mayne Jorgensen added 3 digs.

The Spartans played their best match of the night, helping them win two of their three matches on the night. They rolled to an impressive 21-7 win in the opening set, helping set the tone for the match. Jaelynn Petersen had a team high 4 kills, adding a pair of aces. Exira-EHK served the ball well, finishing with 9 aces with Riley Miller having a team high 3 and Zoey Rasmussen and Brooklyn Flathers both having 2 aces. Taryn Petersen had 3 kills and Zoey Rasmussen added 2 kills.

The Spartans battled hard in the opening set but the Chargers earned the win, gaining momentum they would use to take charge in the second set. Jaelynn Petersen had her best match of the night at the net with a team high 6 kills along with 3 digs. Taryn Petersen added 4 kills and 3 digs with Brooklyn Flathers finishing with a team high 5 assists, Riley Miller added 3 assists and Zoey Rasmussen finished with 3 digs.

The Spartans are 4-1 on the season and take on Ar-We-Va and IKM-Manning in Manning on Tuesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard pulled out thrilling wins in both the first and third sets, propelling them to a sweep over Earlham. The Crusaders were scrappy in the back row, not letting the ball hit the floor with three players in double figures in digs and two more within a few digs of ten. Anna Hart paced the back row with 15 digs with Ella Heithoff adding 13 digs and Malia Clayburg also having 13 digs. The hustle helped them get looks against the Cardinal defense led by Malia Clayburg with 10 kills. Ashtyn Klocke had her best match swinging this season with 8 kills. Coon Rapids Bayard hit .109. Ashtyn Klocke added 8 digs and Aubrey Hofbauer added 7 digs. Amelia Cook continues to set the ball well finishing with 20 assists.

The Crusaders stay perfect on the season, moving to 8-0. They host Exira-EHK on Thursday.
