Carroll played well in the first-two sets on Tuesday but Winterset used a late run to win both sets, then took an early lead in set three. Carroll battled, using a 5-0 run in the final set to make it close but the Huskies answered and pulled away to finish the sweep on the road. The Huskies kept Carroll out of system with an aggressive serve, holding the Tigers to a .025 kill efficiency. Carroll had situations in all three sets where they were able to get good swings and Katelyn Aden and Analia Ayala took advantage of those chances. The first set went back and forth until late, with seven ties and six lead changes. Set two was similar with six ties and five lead changes.
The opening set went back and forth early with Winterset taking a 1-0 lead but kills by Analia Ayala and Amanda Wardell tied it a 1 and 2. Carroll grabbed their first lead at 3-2 and went up 4-2 on an ace from McKenna Schwertfeger, who finished with 2 aces on the night. Winterset rallied and went up 7-6 but Carroll tied it at 7 and 8 and took the lead back at 9-8. The game went back and forth with Analia Ayala picking up a pair of kills for Carroll, the second tied the set at 11. The Tigers used some hitting errors from Winterset to build a 14-11 lead but the Huskies went on a 6-0 run and led 17-14. Ayala pulled Carroll within 17-15 and 18-17 with a pair of kills and Katelyn Aden cut it to 19-18. Winterset closed out the set with a 6-2 run to win 25-20.
Winterset started quickly in set two, taking a 7-2 lead but Katelyn Aden started a run for Carroll with a kill as the Tigers cut it to 7-6. A second Aden kill in the set tied the set at 8. Carroll grabbed their first lead and Amanda Wardell ace serve put them up 10-8. Winterset responded, going up 13-12, building a 16-12 lead. Aubrie Drake had an ace for Carroll, pulling the Tigers within 16-14. The Huskies scored two in a row, going up by four but Katelyn Aden stopped it with a kill, followed by an ace from MaKenna Schwertfeger, tying the set at 19. Katelyn Aden put Carroll up 20-19 but Winterset responded again with a pair of points, leading 21-20. Carroll tied the set at 21 but the Huskies scored four in a row to go up two sets to none.
Winterset led 3-0 to start set three but Analia Ayala and Amanda Wardell had back-to-back kills as the Tigers tied the set at three. The Huskies edged away again but Wardell added another kill, cutting the deficit to 6-5. A Huskies 5-1 run put them in control of the set and they would build a 17-8 lead. Carroll called a timeout and Analia Ayala had four straight kills and Carroll was within four at 17-13. Winterset answered the Tiger run with a 5-0 run and went on to win 25-15, completing the sweep.
Analia Ayala led the Tigers with 11 kills with Katelyn Aden adding 8 kills and sharing the team lead with 11 digs. Emily Puck added 11 digs, finishing with 21 assists. McKenna Schwertfeger and Marasyn Wittrock both had 7 digs and Schwertfeger added a team high 2 aces. Amanda Wardell had 4 kills.
The Tigers fall to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in the Raccoon River Conference. They head to ADM on Tuesday.

Greene County, Ogden, Ames, and Roland Story At Kuemper
The Kuemper Knights go 4-0 at home on Tuesday, picking up wins over Greene County, Ames, Ogden, and Roland Story. Kuemper started the day off by picking up a win over Greene County, winning 21-16 and 21-12. In the Ames match, the Knights kept it close at first, as Ames held on to an 8-7 lead. The Ames lead would grow to 14-7 and then to 18-10 in the first set. Kuemper would close set one on an 11-1 run as they would come back and win 21-19. Two freshmen really helped Kuemper complete the comeback. Kolbi Peter went on a serving run that brought the Knights back in the game, and then Mariah Heuton picked up a big kill to give Kuemper a 19-18 lead. In the second set, Kuemper would roll as the match was never close. The Knights would go on to win the second 21-7 and win 2-0 over Ames. Kuemper would cruise to a 2-0 victory over Ogden in their third match. In the night’s final match, Kuemper would go up against Roland Story. The Knights would pick up a 21-19 win in a back-and-forth first set. Roland Story would win the second set at 21-17 to even the match at 1-1. In an important third set, Kuemper would come out victorious 15-11, and they would go on to win 2-1.
On the night, Brianna Wittrock had a team-high 25 kills. Mariah Heuton recorded 17 kills for the Knights. Wittrock also led Kuemper in blocks with nine. Alivia Schenkelberg was second on the team in blocks with five. Elsa Tiefenthaler continued her great season as a setter, recording 40 assists. Karsyn Overmohle was second on the team in assists with 26. Kaylie Simons recorded 47 digs in the four matches. With the wins Kuemper improves to 11-0 on the season. The Knights are back in action next Tuesday in Clarinda.

The Rockets start the season 2-0, earning a hard fought road win on Tuesday. They did a nice job staying aggressive at the net and forced the Bulldogs to play out of system with a good night at the service line. Paton Churdan went up 2-0 with a tight win in set one and a comfortable win in set two. They gained confidence with a 27-25 win in the 3rd set to finish off the sweep. Mia Russel and Alivya Smith both had 6 kills with Smith adding 10 digs to lead a strong back row effort. Kaliyah Minnihan had an exceptional night serving with 5 aces.
Paton Churdan is 2-0 overall and heads to Eagle Grove on Monday.
