Kuemper and South Central Calhoun At Humboldt Tournament
Kuemper had an outstanding tournament, going undefeated in matches and sets, including a sweep of 5th ranked South Hardin. South Central Calhoun battled against strong competition, finishing the day 1-3 in matches and 2-6 in sets. The Knights dominated sets against Fort Dodge, winning 21-6 and 21-8 while showing grit in tough wins over South Hardin (21-16, 21-19), South Central Calhoun (21-14, 21-15) and Humboldt (21-15, 21-19). The Titans played well in loses to 5th ranked South Hardin (21-19, 21-15) and Humboldt (21-18, 23-21). They bounced back in a tight win over Fort Dodge (21-19, 21-17).
Brianna Wittrock led the Knights at the net with 32 kills with freshman Mariah Heuton having a strong day with 17 kills and Addy Anthofer added 10 kills. Elsa Tiefenthaler paced the setters with 43 assists with Karsyn Overmohle had 33 assists. Kaylie Simons continues to impress in the back row, leading the Knights with 59 digs with Brooke Rohe adding 19 digs, Brianna Wittrock 17 digs and Karsyn Overmohle and Ela Tiefenthaler both having 16 digs. Brianna Wittrock had a team high 11 blocks with Alivia Schenkelberg adding 9 digs. Karsyn Overmohle added 10 aces with Elsa Tiefenthaler adding 9 aces.
Jayci Graeve had a team high 26 kills for South Central Calhoun with Brenna McAlister adding 15 digs and Sadie Wheelock finishing with 7 kills. Norah Riedesel had 48 assists. Alexa Holm paced the back row with 19 digs, followed by Brenna McAlister with 18 digs and Jayci Graeve with 15 digs. Sadie Wheelock blocked 9 attacks with Kaitlyn O’Neill adding 4 blocks. Brenna McAlister and Brooklyn Pruitt both had 2 aces.
The Knights are 7-0 and will host Ames, Greene County, Ogden and Roland Story on Tuesday. South Central Calhoun sits at 2-3 with matches against Storm Lake St Mary’s and GTRA at Storm Lake St Mary’s on Thursday.

Carroll At Harlan Tournament
Carroll opened their season with an extremely strong performance, taking 2nd place at the Harlan Tournament. They went 5-1 in matches with their only loss coming to Glenwood. The Tigers swept Missouri Valley, Harlan, Underwood and St Albert while beating Treynor in three sets, rallying after dropping the 1st set. They swung well at the net with three players with 24 or more kills and were balanced in the back row with four players with 25 digs or more. The Tigers didn’t have a lot of aces but served the ball efficiently. Carroll was dominant in wins over Missouri Valley (21-14, 21-12), Underwood (21-13, 21-17) and St Albert (21-18, 21-14). They had a hard fought win over Harlan (21-19, 21-15) and rallied to beat Treynor after struggling in the 1st set. Carroll beat the Cardinals 5-21, 21-15, 15-11. Their lone loss was against Glenwood, which finished the day 6-0. Treynor went 4-2 with Underwood 3-3.
Katelyn Aden led the Tigers with 32 kills, Olivia Rowedder had 29 kills and Amanda Wardell had 24 kills. Marasyn Wittrock paced a strong back row with 56 digs with Katelyn Aden having 31 digs, Aubrie Drake with 26 digs and McKenna Schwertfeger having 25 digs. Amanda Wardell paced the defense at the net with 12 blocks with Chloe Kock adding 7 blocks. Emily Puck had 7 aces to go with 89 assists while McKenna Schwertfeger had 3 aces.
The Tigers are 5-1 to start the season and will host Winterset on Tuesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard At Colfax Mingo Tournament
The Crusaders kept their strong start to the season going with a championship at the Colfax Mingo Tournament. They went 10-1 in sets, sweeping four of their five matches and 5-0 in matches. Their toughest match was against GMG, which suffered their first loss of the season. The Crusaders won a tight 1st and 3rd sets with a tough loss in the 2nd set. They had easy wins against Iowa Valley (21-13, 21-12), Baxter (21-18, 21-8) and Murray (21-9, 21-14). Their other win was a tight win over Colfax Mingo (21-17, 21-19). The Crusaders were able to earn the wins without many aces or blocks, showing their strength in the back row and swinging.
Amelia Cook had a strong tournament with 73 assists to go with 9 kills and 12 digs. Malia Clayburg was her top target with 40 kills to go with 33 digs and 5 aces. Aubrey Hofbauer had 17 kills and Ashtyn Klocke added 11 kills. Anna Hart had a team high 40 digs with Ashtyn Klocke adding 35 digs and Ella Heithoff finishing with 23 digs. Aubrey Hofbauer had a team high 6 aces with Malia Clayburg having 5 aces.
The Crusaders improved to 7-0 overall and will host Earlham on Thursday.

Ar-We-Va At East Sac Tournament
East Sac picked up a pair of wins at their tournament on Saturday while Ar-We-Va narrowly missed on taking 2nd place. The Raiders rolled to six wins in sets, going 2-0 in matches, defeating Storm Lake St Mary’s in three sets (25-16, 25-9, 25-21) and Ar-We-Va (25-10, 25-12, 25-11). The Rockets bounced back after the loss to East Sac and had a chance to beat Storm Lake St Mary’s, falling in five sets. Ar-We-Va won the opening set against the Panthers, winning 25-23 but dropped a close 2nd set, losing 26-24. The Panthers took the lead with a 25-18 win in set three but Ar-We-Va dominated the 4th set, winning 25-12. They were unable to keep the momentum heading into set five, falling 15-12.
Addisen Ehler continues her dominant start to the season, pacing the Raiders with 29 kills and 9 aces while being second on the team with 18 digs. Katelyn Schmitt added 11 kilss and Kendall Quirk had 9 kills. Jordin Carroll had 55 assists, finding five different hitters. Ella Wilson had a team high 19 digs with Katelyn Schmitt having 11 digs. Kendall Quirk and Emerson Ludwig led the team with 4 blocks each. Katelyn Schmitt added 6 aces with Makenna Steiger having 5 aces.
AnnaLee Wittrock paced the Rockets with 11 kills with Gabrielle Hundling adding 9 kills and Allison Skinner with 5 kills. Amber Ragaller finished with 33 assists along with 3 aces. Morgan Berg had a team high 14 digs, followed by Jazmine Molina with 12 digs and Emma Leiting with 11 digs and a team high 5 aces. Morgan Berg and Jazmine Molina both had 4 aces with Allison Skinner adding 3 aces.
East Sac is 3-1 on the season and hosts Pocahontas Area on Thursday. Ar-We-Va starts the season 0-2 with a trip to the Ridge View Tournament on Saturday.
