Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Remsen St. Mary’s Tops North Linn In Night Cap

Remsen St. Mary’s and North Linn wrapped up day one of the state baseball tournament in Carroll on Monday. North Linn came out aggressive in the top of the second inning as they plated two runs on two hits to take an early 2-0. Remsen would flex their muscles a little bit as they would score six runs on three hits to take an early 6-2 lead. Both teams combined for five hits and seven walks in the first inning. Liam Thompson led the second inning off with a single for North Linn but was caught stealing later in the inning. Remsen was able to push another run across in the home half of the second on one hit. The run came witht two outs in the inning as St. Mary’s lead would grow to 7-2 going to the third. Mason Bechen led the third inning off with a triple for North Linn. He was brought into score on an RBI single from Cael Benesch. North Linn would cut into the Remsen lead at 7-3 going to the home half of the third inning.

Remsen St. Mary’s continued to roll at the plate as they would add three more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Hunter Pick of Remsen had a big two run blast over the left field fence to extended the lead to 10-3 going to the fourth. North Linn leads the bases load in the top of the fourth inning. Remsen would remain ahead 10-3 going to the home half. St. Mary’s picked up two hits the in home half of the fourth inning but was unable to score. North Linn went in order to start the fifth inning as St. Mary’s would hold on to a 10-3 lead. Deanon Loucks led the bottom of the fifth off with a single to centerfield but St. Mary’s was unable to plate a run as they would lead 10-3 going to the sixth inning. Runs were hard to come across as the game went on. North Linn went in order for the second straight time to start the sixth inning. North Linn would make things interesting in the top of the seventh as they would plate three runs. Remsen would hold on as they would go on to win 10-6.

With the win Remsen St. Mary’s advances to the class 1A semifinals on Wendesday at 4:30. North Linn wrapps up their season at 24-9. Full stats from both teams are available below.
