Lucas Sieck was sharp early for Lynnville Sully, striking out three batters in the top 1st, mixed around a 2-out single by Cade Clarahan.
Lynnville Sully had a chance to build a lead in the bottom 1st, getting a runner to 3rd with no outs by Carter Noun Harder was tagged out at the plate on a suicide squeeze. They scored later in the inning when CJ Nikkel reached on a fielder’s choice and scored from 2nd base on a single to 2nd base by Lannon Montgomery. The Savages ended the threat with a 4-6-3 double play to end the 1st inning.
Both teams went in order in the 2nd inning with Lucas Sieck recording a pair of strikeouts, giving him 5 strikeouts through two innings. Lynnville Sully got a runner on 1st in the bottom 3rd but Chase Clarahan threw him out at 2nd trying to steal.
Sigourney threatened top 4th getting three runners on base but one was thrown out at 2nd base on a ball hit to right field when he over ran the bag. The other two were stranded. Lynnville Sully leads 1-0. Lucas Sieck struck out all three batters in the top 5th, moving his total to 11. Sigourney had a strong bottom 5th after a 1-out error. They threw a runner out at 2nd on a shallow fly ball to right field for the 2nd out and Issac Bruns made a nifty diving catch in centerfield to end the 5th inning.
Carson Maston replaces Lucas Sieck to start the top 6th. Sigourney leaves 2-runners on top 6th. Carson Maston had a 2-out single bottom 6th and the Hawks score when Lannon Montgomery picks up his second RBI. Lynnville leaves the bases loaded but leads 2-0.
Sigourney had runners on 1st and 2nd with 1-out but Lynnville Sully gets a strikeout from Carson Maston and a fly ball to right field. Lynnville Sully wins 2-0 and will play Akron Westfield in the semifinals on Wednesday.
