Dylan Shepherd singled to score Logan Harris in the bottom 9th to tie the game and Justin Ricketts walked with the bases loaded at the Merchants rally with 3-runs over the final two innings to beat Clarinda 6-5. Carroll took the lead in the 3rd inning on a Arrington Eason home run and a Noah Dutler doubled, that scored Jake McClure. Clarinda responded in the 4th inning with 3-runs, taking a lead they would hold until the bottom of the 9th. The A’s added a run in the 5th innings and lead 4-2 in the 6th when Carroll cut the deficit to one. Jordan Brandenburg single, driving in Aiden Cizek and Carroll was down 4-3. Clarinda scored again in the 8th but the Merchants had the answer. Arrington Eason picked up his second RBI of the game, singling home Jordan Brandenburg and Carroll trailed 5-4 heading to the 9th. Carroll sat the A’s down in order in the top half, setting up their bottom 9th heroics.
Arrington Eason had 3-hits with a solo home run, along with 2 RBI and scored once for Carroll. Sammy Harris added 3-hits with a double and scored while Jake McClure had a pair of hits and scored a run. Aiden Cizek doubled, finishing with 2-hits and scored for Carroll.
The Merchants improve to 14-23 overall and 14-22 in the MINK. They host Nemo Craze on Sunday afternoon.
