Softball Postseason Results Friday, July 12th

East Marshall grabbed the early lead and Kuemper tried to fight back but fell short as the Knights season comes to an end at 17-14. The Mustangs scored 3-runs in the 1st inning collecting 3-hits along the way. The Knights responded in the 2nd inning when Kaylie Diercksen hit a solo home run, pulling them within 3-1. The Knights struggled on offense, finishing with 3-hits, two of them in the 7th inning and Kaci Peter reaching on an error in the 3rd inning. Ellie Sibbel and Chloe Gehling had back-to-back singles in the 7th. East Marshall added 3-runs in the 2nd inning using a bunt single, a Kuemper error and a pair of walks. They stretched the lead to 8-1 with 2-runs in the 3rd and scored their final run of the game in the 4th.

Kaylie Diercksen had a solo home run while Ellie Sibbel and Chloe Gehling singled. Myli Schaefer took the loss, going 4 innings, allowing 5 hits and 5 earned runs.

Audubon scored first and Riley Miller was nearly unhittable for the second straight postseason game as the Wheelers advanced into the Regional Final on Monday against MVAOCOU. Miller allowed 1-hit, the Wheelers scored 5-runs in the 3rd inning, highlighted by a home run from Addie Hocker that scored 3-runs.

Taryn Petersen singled with an out in the bottom 1st, then stole 2nd base and scored on a single by Jordan Porsch, who finished with 2 RBI. The Wheelers took a 1-0 lead into the 3rd inning when they blew the game open. Mattie Nielsen singled to start the 3rd inning and Taryn Petersen collected her third single of the game, scoring Nielsen, who had stolen 2nd base. Petersen again stole 2nd base and scored on a base hit by Jordan Porsch, making it 3-0 Wheelers. Riley Miller singled and Alexis Obermeier walked, setting up a home run by Addie Hocker that affectively put the game out of reach. Riley Miller controlled the rest of the game in the circle. She finished with 5 strikeouts, allowed 1 hits and walked 4.

Jordan Porsch and Taryn Petersen both had 3 hits with Porsch finishing with a pair of RBI and scoring once. Petersen scored twice and drove in a run. Addie Hocker had a 3-run home run, and Mattie Nielsen singled and scored.

The Wheelers improved to 26-4 and will host MVAOCOU (20-11) on 93.7 KKRL.
