On Wednesday, the Kuemper Knights picked up a regional quarterfinal win over Manson NW Webster. Mason held a lead early, but the Knights regained the lead early on and never looked back. The Cougars would score a single in the top of the first inning. The leadoff batter for Manson Northwest Webster led the game off with a walk and came into score on a sac fly. Kuemper was able to tie the game up in the home half of the first inning. Allison Ostrander came around to score to tie the game 1-1. Neither team scored in the second inning. Myli Schaefer pitched exceptionally well for the Knights and, at one point, sent down thirteen of fourteen batters. Kuemper took the lead in the bottom of the third inning with a big two-RBI single from Ellie Sibbel. In the inning, Kuemper scored both runs with two outs as they would take a 3-1 lead. The Knights would add another run in the fourth as their lead would grow to 4-1. Manson NW Webster cut into the lead at 4-2 in the fifth inning. Neither team scored the rest of the game as Kuemper would go on to win 4-2.

As a team, Kuemper recorded seven hits, all coming from a different player. Allison Ostrander was 1-3, with a double and a walk. Ellie Sibbel was 1-2 with two RBI. Charlotte Schwabe also recorded a single and an RBI. Kaci Peter, Morgan Masching, Kaylie Diercksen, and Addison Schon recorded the other hits for the Knights. Myli Schaefer picked up the win in the circle, going seven innings, giving up two runs on three hits, and striking out 11 Manson batters. With the win, Kuemper improved to 17-13. They advance to take on the winner of East Marshall and Panorama. That game was suspended in the third inning due to rain, with East Marshall leading 3-1. They will resume play on Thursday, and the next round game is scheduled for Friday.

East Sac At Audubon- Class 2A Region 2

Riley Miller was untouchable for most of the game and the Wheelers used two big innings to knock off East Sac, which battled to the very end. The Wheelers scored 4-runs in the 2nd inning and 4-runs in the 6th to win going away. Riley Miller struck out eight of the first-nine batters she faced, finishing with 13 strikeouts. East Sac picked up their first him in the 5th inning, finishing with 4-hits, two of them coming in the 7th inning. The Wheelers will host Ridge View on Friday on 93.7 KKRL. The Raptors rolled past North Union, winning 10-1.

Riley Miller struck out the first-three batters she faced and five of the first-six, setting up an early lead for Audubon. Alexis Obermeier singled to start the bottom 2nd for Audubon and Lucy Stanerson came in as pinch runner. Addie Hocker singled, scoring Stanerson, who stole 2nd base. Hocker moved to 2nd on the throw home and scored on a play by Anna Larsen. Mattie Nielsen cleared the bases hitting a shot over the left-center field fence, putting Audubon up 4-0. Riley Miller struck out the side in the 3rd inning but East Sac started making contact in the 4th inning, their second time through the lineup. Jamie Pierce and Jen Aschinger both hit fly balls that were caught before Miller picked up her ninth strikeout. The Wheelers scratched a run across in the 3rd. Riley Miller walked and was courtesy run by Maya King. King scored on a bang-bang play at home on a bunt by Michelle Brooks. The Raiders had a chance but the ball popped away at the plate on the slide. The Wheelers led 5-0 going into the 6th, though East Sac broke up a perfect game for Miller with a base hit by Kamryn Ross in the 5th with 2-outs and a single by Gracie Snyder in the top 6th. Audubon sealed the win in the 6th, scoring 4-runs, batting all nine hitters. Mattie Nielsen opened the inning with a single and stole 2nd and 3rd base. Taryn Petersen singled and stole 2nd base, setting up Jordan Porsch who drove them both in. Alexis Obermeier singled and Addie Hocker reached on a fielder’s choice. Both scored on a pair of errors on East Sac, stretching the lead to 9-0. Jordin Carroll led off the 7th for East Sac with a double and Anna McCollough singled by Gemini Goodwin got to it so quick that Carroll had to hold up at 3rd. Miller struck out the next batter, her thirteenth of the game, then got a fly ball to Goodwin in right field to end the game.

Riley Miller pitched a perfect game into the 5th inning, finishing with 3-hits allowed and 13 strikeouts. Mattie Nielsen had 2-hits, including a 2-run home run and scored twice. Taryn Petersen and Alexis Obermeier both had 2-hits and scored a run. Addie Hocker had a base hit with an RBI and scored twice while Jordan Porsch had 2 RBI.

East Sac got a double from Jordin Carroll and singles from Anna McCollough, Gracie Snyder and Kamryn Ross. Miranda Gerdes took the loss, allowing 7 hits and 5 earned runs in 5 2/3 inning.
The Wheelers improved to 25-4 and will host Ridge View on Friday on 93.7 KKRL. East Sac ended their season at 10-15.

Audubon got a pair of hits against one of the top pitchers in the State but four errors allowed the Spartans to score eight unearned runs in a 12-0, 3 inning loss. Kassidy Wenck and Ashlynn Tigges singled and Elizabeth Lloyd reached base on a hit-by-pitch for Glidden Ralston. Collins-Maxwell scored 3-runs in the 1st and led 7-0 entering the 3rd inning. a 5-run run bottom 3rd ended the game.

The Wildcats finished the season 9-13.

Coon Rapids Bayard At Ankeny Christian- Class 1A Region 3

Coon Rapids Bayard shot out of the gate, scoring 7-runs in the top 1st, then holding Ankeny Christian to a single run in the bottom half. The Crusaders collected 5-hits in the 1st inning but only had three more hits the rest of the game as the Eagles chipped away at the Crusader lead before taking the lead in the 5th inning. Coon Rapids Bayard appeared to score in the 2nd inning, which would have pushed the lead to 8-1 but they were called out for leaving base early on a fly ball that was caught by the shortstop, ending the inning after a leadoff triple put them in position to score. The Eagles used 4-hits to score 4-runs in the 5th to take a 1-run lead. The Crusaders fought back in the 7th scoring a run and having the tying run at 2nd base but two groundouts ended the game.

Anna Hart reached on an error to start the game and Brooklynn Burmeister walked, setting up and RBI single by Malia Clayburg. Breeley Clayburg kept the quick start going with a single and Mya Downing drove in a run on a fielder’s choice. Maddy Mason reached on an error and Piper Mason drove in a pair of runs with a single. Amelia Eddy added to the totals for Coon Rapids Bayard, singling to score a run and Anna Hart ended the hot start with a single to score the 7th run of the inning. Ankeny Christian scored a run in the bottom 1st, adding another run in the 2nd before closing the game with a 3-run 3rd inning. Anna Hart sat the Eagles down in order in the 4th but the Crusaders couldn’t capitalize in the 5th, leaving a runner on base. Ankeny Christian responded in the bottom 5th, getting a pair of singles that started a 4-hit, 4-run inning that put them ahead 9-7. Coon Rapids Bayard went down in order in the 6th but Malia Clayburg singled to start the 7th. She came in to score, pulling the Crusaders within a run. Aubrey Hofbauer walked and stole 2nd but was stranded as the game came to an end.

Malia Clayburg had a huge game at the plate, going 4-4 with a triple and scoring twice. Anna Hart added a base hit, driving in a run and scoring once. Piper Mason had a base hit with 2 RBI and Amelia Eddy added a base hit with an RBI. Breeley Clayburg singled and scored.

The Crusaders end the season 9-12.
