Bryc Summerfield was dominant on the hill and the offense came alive in the 6th inning as IKM-Manning rolls to a 8-1 win and a rematch with Coon Rapids Bayard. Summerfield pitched a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings before coming of the game before he hit 65-pitches. Tristan Barry came in and finished off the Wolves win, allowing 1-hit and no earned runs. The Wolves kept threatening early in the game, stranding 4-runners in scoring position and 5 on base through three innings.  They broke through in the 4th when Zander Richards got on with a base hit and Brock Kusel reached on a fielder’s choice. Ross Kusel doubled with 2-outs, scoring them both. The lead stayed 2-0 into the 6th when the Wolves scored 6-runs to blow the game open. Bryc Summerfield singled and scored on a single by Zander Richards. Braden Fuchs  singled and Tristan Barry reached on a fielder’s choice. The Wolves had two runners on base with 2-outs and the top of the order up. Ross Kusel reached on an error and Jace Starman was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded before Bryc Summerfield singled to score 2-runs, pushing the lead to 8-0. Summerfield held the Spartans in check, striking out 8 through 5 2/3 innings. They only base runner he allowed was on an error in the 5th inning. He struck out one batter in each of his 5 2/3 innings. A walk followed by a single and an error helped the Spartans score in the 7th but Tristan Barry induced a popup to end the game.

Bryc Summerfield earned the win, going 5 2/3 innings, allowing no-hits with 8 strikeouts. He added 2-hits and 2 RBI at the plate. Ross Kusel had 3-hits with a double, 4 RBI and a run scored. Zander Richards had a pair of hits with an RBI and a run scored. Braden Fuchs added a double and scored. Lane Sams had a fantastic game at shortstop.

The Wolves improve to 14-13 and will play at Coon Rapids Bayard on Tuesday on 93.7 KKRL.

It took the Crusaders offense a little while to get rolling but it didn’t take long for Kolby Culbertson to get into a rhythm on the hill. Culbertson dominated the game for 5 innings, striking out 10, allowing only four baserunners, with none reaching base with a base hit. He picked off one of the four and two reached 2nd base. Cal Heydon was a table setter in the leadoff spot, tripling his first time up and scoring on a base hit by Ty Heydon. Cal Heydon walked with 1-out in the 3rd inning and scored on a single by Tyler Mohr. Parker Hays set the stage in the 4th, singling to start the inning and scoring on a double steal. The Crusaders blew the game open in the 5th inning. Cal Heydon led off with a single, followed by a hit-by-pitch for Kolby Culbertson, an RBI single for Tyler Mohr and Parker Hays driving in a run on a bunt. Cade Behrens hit one deep to left field for a sac fly, scoring a run and the Crusaders were up 7-0. AHSTW got on the board in the 6th on a hit-by-pitch, a pair of stolen bases and an RBI ground out. Coon Rapids Bayard responded with 2-runs in the bottom 6th. Kolby Culbertson and Jace Baker walked and scored on a fielder’s choice from Ty Heydon and a ball on the infield by Parker Hays.

Kolby Culbertson went 5 innings with no-hits and 10 strikeouts to earn the win. Cal Heydon was 2-3 with a double and a triple and scoring 3 times. Parker Hays added 3-hits with 2 RBI and scored once, Tyler Mohr had 2-hits and 2 RBI. Ty Heydon had 2-hits and 2 RBI and Caden Oswald had a pair of hits. Coon Rapids Bayard stranded 7 guys on base with the bases loaded in the 6th.

The Crusaders are 20-11 on the season and will host IKM-Manning on Tuesday on 93.7 KKRL.

Ar-We-Va collected a pair of hits, scoring in the 3rd in a loss to Woodbury Central on Saturday afternoon. The Rockets season ended with the loss as Woodbury Central scored 3-runs in the 1st inning and slowly pulled away, ending the game in the bottom of the 5th with 3-runs. Wyatt Ragaller tripled for Ar-We-Va and scored on a base hit by Wade Ragaller. Wyatt Ragaller took the loss on the hill, going 4 2/3 innings, allowing 12-hits and 6 earned runs with 4 K’s.

The Rockets end the season at 1-16.

In a game that was tight all day long, Missouri Valley used their home field advantage to earn the win. The Raiders scored 3-runs in the top 7th, taking a 7-5 lead but Missouri Valley had a chance in the bottom 7th and tied the game. After the Raiders couldn’t score in the top of the 8th, Missouri Valley was able to score a run to end the game. Every time the Raiders looked to take control of the game, the Big Red answered in the bottom of the inning. East Sac got on the board first, scoring in the 3rd inning when Bradyn Burns doubled and scored on a base hit by Luke Wernimont. Missouri Valley answered with a run in the bottom half and took a 2-1 lead with a run in the 4th inning. The Raiders grabbed the lead again with a 3-run 5th inning. Karter Ludwig singled with 2-outs and Luke Wernimont reached on an error, Jack Gullett singled and Carter Erritt drove both home with a single. Again the Big Red answered with 3-runs in the bottom 5th to take a 5-4 lead. Landon Sporrer started the 7th inning rally for East Sac, getting hit-by-pitch. Karter Ludwig doubled and Luke Wernimont singled. Sporrer, Ludwig and Wernimont all scored and East Sac went up 7-5 in the top 7th. Missouri Valley had the first-three guys get on base in the bottom 7th and scored a pair of runs to send the game to extra innings. Logan Schroeder got on base to leadoff the 8th for East Sac but the Raiders didn’t score, setting the stage for Missouri Valley. The Big Red got the leadoff runner on base with a single and scored on an error with 2-outs.

Karter Ludwig, Bradyn Burns and Luke Wernimont all had 2-hits with Ludwig doubling and scoring twice. Burns added a double and scored and Wernimont scored twice. Carter Erritt added a double and Jack Gullett had a base  hit and scored.

The Raiders season came to and end, going 6-12.

The game featured four lead changes, 30-runs combined and a lightening delay. South Central Calhoun couldn’t quite hold on, taking a 14-13 lead into the 7th, then leaving the bases loaded with 2-outs in the bottom half of the 7th, down 16-14. The Titans grabbed a 4-run lead in the 2nd inning, scoring 6-runs on 5-hits. Andrew Anderson and Charlie Nattress both drove in a pair of runs with both singling and Brock Nattress knocked in a run, reaching on an error. SE Valley recovered in the top 3rd, tying the game with 4-runs. The Jaguars went on top for the second time with a 3-run 4th inning. Kaden Dorman walked and Caleb Juhl drove him in to get the Titans on the board in the bottom 4th. SE Valley took control of the game it appeared with 4-runs in the 5th inning, going up 13-7. The game went into a lightening delay with 1-out in the bottom 5th but the Titans responded when the game resumed, scoring a pair of runs with Andrew Anderson doubling to score Aiden Albright. Anderson scored later in the inning, making it 13-9. The Titans got on a roll in the bottom 6th, getting the first-four batters on base with all four scoring. Brock Nattress reached on a fielder’s choice and scored the lead run on a hit-by-pitch to Cooper Nattress. The Titans were up 14-13 going to the 7th. A double and three straight walks to start the top 7th, tied the game at 14 and a double put the Jaguars up 16-14. South Central Calhoun had one more chance and they nearly came through. Halas Steig walked, Marshall Bundt singled and Brock Nattress was hit-by-pitch to lead the bases with 2-outs. They weren’t able to score, ending their season at 8-13.

Andrew Anderson had 2-hits with a double and 3-RBI. He scored twice. Charlie Nattress added 2-hits with 2 RBI and scored once. Caleb Juhl had 2-hits and scored twice and Aidan Albright had a pair of hits and scored 2-runs.

Audubon at Woodbine – Class 1A Substate 2

The Audubon Wheelers season comes to an end on Saturday as they lost on the road at Woodbine. The Wheelers never led in the game and only recorded three hits as a team. Audubon struggled with timing the Woodbine pitcher at the plate through the first three innings. Woodbine gained the lead in the top of the first inning as they plated one run to take a 1-0 lead. The Tigers scored a little in every inning as they kept building on their lead. The lead would grow to 2-0 in the second inning as another run came across the plate. The Wheelers did not get a baserunner until the fourth inning. In the top of the fourth inning, Audubon would get the bases load on a hit-by-pitch and two singles, but they were unable to bring a run across as they would trail 4-0. Two more runs came across the plate in the home half of the four for Woodbine as their lead would grow top 6-0. Neither team scored in the fifth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, Woodbine added a couple of more runs as they would hold on to an 8-0 lead. Audubon was able to score a run on an error in the seventh as Colton Hansen came into score, but the Wheelers would go on to lose 8-1.

Brody Schultes went 2-3 at the plate of the Wheelers. Carson Wessel recorded the other hit, going 1-3 in the loss. Audubon was hit by three pitches in the game. Adam Obrecht took the loss on the hill but pitched well, going four innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits, and striking out one Woodbine hitter. With the loss, Audubon’s season comes to an end at 2-24.

Glidden-Ralston struggled at the plate on Saturday against Logan-Magnolia in Woodbine as their season would come to an end in a five-inning loss. Logan-Magnolia scored in every inning but one. Glidden-Ralston only managed one hit coming off the bat of Collin Sturm, which was a double. In the bottom of the first inning, Logan-Magnolia plated one run, and they took a 1-0 lead. The Panthers would open the game up in the second inning as five runs would come across the plate, and they would go up 6-0. Neither team scored in the third inning. The Wildcats only managed two base runners during the game, and they both came in the second inning. Logan-Magnolia would add three runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth as they would go on to win 10-0 over Glidden-Ralston. Jonathan Bergmeier suffered the loss on the hill, going four innings and giving up nine earned runs on ten hits while recording one strikeout. With the loss, the Glidden-Ralston season comes to an end at 3-18.
