The Carroll Tigers are playing some of their best baseball down the stretch as the playoffs are right around the corner. Carroll fell on the road to one of the top-ranked teams in 3A in Bondurant-Farrar on Wednesday. The Tigers only managed one hit in the game. Bondurant-Farrar scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Carroll committed three errors, which led to one unearned run in the game. The Tigers were no-hit in the seventh inning before Stone Sibenaller collected a single with two outs. Bondurant-Farrar added another run during the game as they would go on to win 3-0 over Carroll. Sibenaller also took the loss on the hill, going five innings, giving up two earned runs, and striking out one Bondurant-Farrar batter. With the loss, Carroll falls to 8-16. The Tigers are back in action on Monday against Denison-Schleswig.

Lewis Central collected 3-hits, scoring a pair of runs in the 1st inning and never trailed, winning a matchup of Hawkeye 10 teams on Wednesday afternoon. The Titans got a walk and base hit, a walk and a double in the 2nd inning, stretching their lead to 5-0. They didn’t score again as Carter Putney settled in on the mound, allowing just three base runners over the next two innings. Lewis Central stranded a pair of runners on base in the 3rd and Charles Mayhall threw out the runner in the 4th inning, trying to steal. Landon Pottebaum worked the final three innings for Kuemper, allowing just 3 hits. The Knights offense struggled but had chances. They stranded a runner in scoring position in the 2nd inning, though they scored a run earlier in the 2nd when John Boes drove in Evan Loew who walked to start the inning. Kuemper had the bases loaded with 1-out in the 3rd inning but a line drive to 1st base turned into a double play to end the inning. Kuemper left two more runners on base in the 6th. They finished with 5-hits, including a solo home run from Carter Putney in the 7th inning. 

Carter Putney had 2 of the Knights 5 hits, scoring a run and hitting a solo home run. Ethan Loew, Tristan Janson and Josh Langel all had singles. Evan Loew scored a run and John Boes added an RBI.

The Kuemper Knights picked up a win over Logan-Magnolia. The Knights jumped out to an early lead but had to come back later in the game to pick up the win. Neither team scored in the first inning. In the home half of the second, Kuemper grabbed an early lead, plating one run to take an early 1-0 lead. John Boes picked up a single in the inning for the Knights. Logan-Magnolia responded in the top of the third as they plated a run to tie the game up at 1-1. In the bottom of the third inning, Kuemper would take the lead back as another run came across the plate to score 2-1. The fourth inning was scoreless. In the top of the fifth, Logan-Magnolia would tie the game up at 2-2 and would take their first lead in the top of the sixth inning at 3-2. Kuemper would respond in the home half of the sixth inning as they scored two runs to take the lead back at 4-3. Mason Knerl recorded a single in the inning, but Kuemper was able to work a couple of walks, which helped them take the lead. The Knights would hold Logan-Magnolia off in the seventh as they would go on to win 4-3.

As a team, Kuemper only recorded four hits. Mason Knerl was 2-3 with an RBI in the win. Carter Putney recorded a triple at the plate for the Knights. John Boes picked up the other hit for Kuemper. Knerl went the complete game on the hill, pitching seven innings and giving up three runs on 11 hits while striking out four Logan-Magnolia hitters. With the win, Kuemper improved to 16-17. The Knights are back in action on Tuesday against the winner of Pocahontas and Manson NW Webster.

IKM-Manning pulled away late with a 5-run 7th inning, sending them to their 14th win of the season. Ar-We-Va had a few chances early to score but stranded runners on base as the Wolves took the early lead. IKM-Manning scored twice in the 2nd inning, adding a run in the 3rd and 4th innings. 

Brock Kusel paced the Wolves with 3 hits with Kasche Huehn and Braden Fuchs both having a pair of hits. Kusel had an RBI and scored once while Fuchs and Huehn both had a pair of RBI. Zander Richards drove in a pair of runs and Jace Starman earned the win, going 1 inning, allowing 1 hit. 

Wyatt Ragaller and Devon Ehlers both had a base hit for Ar-We-Va. 

IKM-Manning is 14-13 heading into Districts on Saturday against Exira-EHK in Coon Rapids on 93.7 KKRL while Ar-We-Va is 1-15 heading into their District game Saturday at Woodbury Central.

Carson Wessel singled, followed by a single from Colton Hansen, giving Audubon a 2-0 as the Wheelers earned a win on the road on Wednesday. The Wheelers out hit Glidden Ralston 15 to 5, using the extra base runners to keep the pressure on. They led 2-0 after the 1st inning, extending it to 5-0 after the 2nd inning and 8-0 after three innings. Glidden Ralston had a chance to score in the 1st inning with Mark Lensch and Daniel Thooft singling back-to-back and Alex Daniel ripping a line drive to left to load the bases with 2-outs. The Wildcats grounded out to end the threat. Carson Wessel drove in a run in the 2nd inning for Audubon with Brody Schultes picking up an RBI and Wessel scoring the third run of the inning on a passed ball. Adam Obrecht drove in a run in the 3rd on a sac fly, scoring Aiden Kjergaard and Brody Schultes drove in Aaron Olsen with a single, making it 8-0. 

The Wildcats got on the board in the 4th inning. Alex Daniel was hit-by-pitch, stole 2nd base and moved to 3rd on a wild pitch, scoring on a ground ball in the infield by Lucas Christian. The Wheelers responded with a run in the top 5th and two more runs in the 7th. 

Aaron Olsen and Colton Hansen both had 3 hits for the Wheelers with Olsen scoring twice and Hansen having 2 RBI. Karter Obermeier, Adam Obrecht, Carson Wessel, and Brody Schultes all had 2 hits with Wessel and Schultes each having 3 RBI. Adam Obrecht earned the win, going 3 innings, allowing 3 hits with 4 strikeouts. 

Jonathan Bergmeier, Mark Lensch, Daniel Thooft, Alex Daniel and Lucas Christian all had a hit for Glidden Ralston with Daniel scoring the run and Christian earning the  RBI. 

Audubon moves to 2-23 on the season and plays at Woodbine in Districts on Saturday on KCIM. Glidden Ralston falls to 3-17 and will play LoMa in Woodbine on Saturday also on KCIM.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders led the whole game as they picked up a big nonconference win going into postseason play. At the top of the first inning, CRB added a run as they would take an early lead of 1-0. Neither team scored in the second and third innings as the game would remain at 1-0. The Crusaders would add a couple more runs in the fourth inning as their lead would grow to 3-0. CRB added three more runs in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 6-0. Southeast Valley was able to get a run back in the bottom of the fifth inning as they would cut into the lead at 6-1. The Crusaders added another run in the seventh, and they would go on to win 7-1.

Kolby Culbertson, Ty Heydon, and Cal Heydon combined to pitch seven innings on the mound. The three pitchers gave up one hit while walking five and striking out 14 Southeast Valley batters. Cal Heydon picked up the win on the hill. Cal also hit a solo home run in the win and recorded a two-RBI single. Cade Behrens and Kolby Culbertson each had a pair of RBI singles for the Crusaders. With the win, CRB improved to 19-11. The Crusaders are back in action on Saturday against AHSTW.

The South Central Calhoun Titans drop a high-scoring game on the road Wednesday at OABCIG. The game was back and forth as a combined 15 runs were scored. OABCIG scored the game’s first runs as they took an early lead at the bottom of the first inning, plating one run to score 1-0. In the top of the second inning, SCC took their first lead, plating three runs as their score would move to 3-1. OABCIG would respond in the home half of the third, scoring three runs to take the lead back at 4-3. The Titans would tie the game up at 4-4 in the top of the fourth, but OABCIG would grab it right back in the home half at 7-4. OABCIG would hold the lead for the rest of the game. The Titans cut into the lead in the fifth inning as they would plate two runs to trail 7-6. Both teams would score another run, but OABCIG would go on to win 8-7 over South Central Calhoun.

The Titans hit the ball well, recording 11 hits as a team. Brock Nattress was 3-4 with a couple of RBIs. Aiden Albright went 2-3 in the loss. Charlie Nattress recorded a multi-hit game, going 2-4. Andrew Anderson, Caleb Juhl, and Marshall Bundt recorded the other hits for the Titans. With the loss, SCC falls to 8-12. The Titans are back in action on Saturday against Southeast Valley.
