Softball Results Wednesday, July 3rd 

Gilbert At Carroll

Carroll battled hard all game but Gilbert was able to pull away late, picking up their 14th win of the season. Gilbert scored 5-runs in the 5th, adding 4-runs in the 6th to open up a tight game. Parker Adams and Averi Burke both had a pair of hits for Carroll with Adams doubling. Kloee Jones, Analia Ayala, Jersey Sporrer and Marin Overmohle all had a base hit. Tahlia Hahn was hit-by-pitch in the 5th inning and came in to score the Tiger run.

The loss drops Carroll to 7-21 overall and 0-13 in the Raccoon River Conference. They are off until Monday when they travel to Denison Schleswig.

Audubon At Glidden Ralston

The 5th ranked Audubon Wheelers put some pressure on early, scoring a pair of runs in the 1st inning and three more in the 2nd inning but Glidden Ralston continued to battle, picking up seven hits for the game, scoring a pair of runs in the 4th inning. The Wheelers added to their lead in the 6th and 7th innings, finishing with five extra base hits. The win moves Audubon to 24-4 overall and drops Glidden Ralston to 8-12.

Mattie Nielsen started the game off with a base hit, taking 2nd on the play helping her score the first run of the game on a fly ball to the outfield. Riley Miller doubled with 2-outs, one of her two doubles in the game, scoring on a base hit by Alexis Obermeier. Obermeier started in the circle, getting Glidden Ralston in order in the bottom 1st, helping her team keep the momentum. Michelle Brooks drove a 1-out pitch over the centerfield fence for a solo home run, making it 3-0 in favor of the Wheelers. Gemini Goodwin followed it up with a single and Mattie Nielsen doubled, putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. Taryn Petersen singled scoring both and the Wheelers were off and running, leading 5-0. Jaelyn Subbert and the Wildcats defense settled in after that, getting the Wheelers in order in the 3rd and 4th innings with Elizabeth Lloyd picking a runner off 2nd base. The Wildcats bats came alive in the 4th inning, collecting a few hits and using a pair of Wheeler errors to score 2-runs. Glidden Ralston was back in the game, down 5-2. Audubon stranded a runner in the 5th, then scored 3-runs in the 6th to extend their lead. Michelle Brooks started the rally with a double and Gemini Goodwin walked. Mattie Nielsen singled, scoring a run and Gemini Goodwin scored on a wild pitch. Nielsen scored later in the inning on a ground out by Taryn Petersen. The Wheelers added a run in the 7th when Riley Miller doubled and Maya King ran for her, scoring on a ground out by Addie Hocker.

Mattie Nielsen had a team high 3 hits for Audubon with a double and 3-runs scored. Riley Miller had a pair of doubles, along with pitching 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 7. Alexs Obermeier earned the win, going 4 innings, allowing 5 hits and no earned runs while striking out 4. Taryn Petersen added 3 RBI and Michelle Brooks had a pair of hits with a double and a solo home run to go with a pair of runs scored.

Jaelyn Subbert led the Wildcats with a pair of hits, Elizabeth Lloyd had 2 RBI and Zoey Pemble and Tiela Janssen both scored a run. Janssen added a base hit as did Brileigh Bock, Kassidy Wenck and Olivia Squibb.

The Wheelers host East Sac or Alta-Aurelia on Wednesday, July 10th in Regionals on KKRL while Glidden Ralston hosts Colo-Nesco on Monday in Regionals on KCIM.

Coon Rapids Bayard At SE Valley

Things got away from Coon Rapids Bayard in the 5th inning when SE Valley scored 10-runs to blow open a close game. The Crusaders trailed 3-2 heading into the 5th having scored on a single by Aubrey Hofbauer in the 1st inning and a fielder’s choice from Hofbauer in the 3rd inning. Both times she drove in Malia Clayburg who had walked. The run in the 3rd put the Crusaders ahead 2-1 but SE Valley scored twice in the bottom 3rd, taking a 3-2 lead. It stayed 3-2 until the 5th when the Jaguars scored 10-runs.

Aubrey Hofbauer had a hit and 2 RBI to lead the Crusaders with Anna Hart and Piper Mason both having a base  hit. Malia Clayburg scored both of their runs.

The loss drops the Crusaders to 8-11 as they head into Regionals on Monday at home with Ar-We-Va on 93.7 KKRL.

South Central Calhoun trailed 9-7 going into the 5th inning but the Falcons scored twice in the 5th, then ended the game with a 6-run 6th inning. The Titans had the game tied in the top 2nd and led 5-4 heading into the bottom of the 3rd. OABCIG was able to score in every inning, always responding to the Titans runs. The Falcons scored 3-runs in the 2nd and matched South Central Calhoun with 4-runs in the 3rd inning. South Central Calhoun pulled within 8-7 with a 2-run top 4th but OABCIG answered with a run in the 4th inning, then 2 in the 5th. South Central Calhoun scored 7-runs on 5 hits with 4 walks in the game.

Jayci Graeve led the Titans offense with a pair of hits and an RBI. She added a run scored. Morgan McChesney had a team high 2 RBI and Mady Smidt and Oliva Toms both collected a hit with Toms scoring twice. Gracie Hungate and Tori Best both had an RBI. Jayci Graeve also added 6 stolen bases.

The loss drops the Titans to 1-17 on the season. They travel to Panorama on Monday to open Regional play.
