The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders ran into a good Woodbine team on Friday but played well as the Tigers only scored in two innings. CRB only collected one hit, and it came off Malia Clayburg’s bat. In the bottom of the second inning, Woodbine would plate two runs as they took a 2-0 lead. The Tigers plated two more runs in the fourth inning as they would grow their lead to 4-0. Clayburg’s hit came in the fourth inning. Anna Hart took the loss in the circle but pitched well, going six innings, giving up three earned runs on six hits, and striking out five Woodbine hitters. Brooklynn Burmeister also recorded two walks in the game. The Crusaders would go on to lose 4-0. With the loss, CRB falls to 7-10. The Crusaders are back in action on Monday against East Sac County.

Ar-We-Va at Glidden-Ralston

The Ar-We-Va Rockets pick up their fifth straight win as they beat a Rolling Valley Conference rival in Glidden-Ralston. The Rockets worked 13 walks in the game and only recorded three hits. Neither team scored in the first inning. In the second inning, both teams were able to grab a run as the game would be tied 1-1 going to the third inning. In the home half of the third, Glidden-Ralston took their lone lead of the game as they scored two runs, taking a 3-1 lead. The Wildcats hit the ball well, as they totaled 11 hits as a team. Going to the sixth inning, Ar-We-Va was able to add three runs as they took the lead back at 4-3. The Rockets were able to score four runs in the top of the seventh, and they would go on to win 8-3.

Ar-We-Va only had four hits in the win. Emma Leiting, Gabbie Hundling, Morgan Berg, and Annalee Wittrock recorded the hits of the Rockets. Hundling also recorded two runs batted in. For Glidden-Ralston, Kassidy Wenck went 2-4 with a double. Jaelynn Subbert also had a multi-hit game, going 2-4. In the loss, Brileigh Bock went 2-4 with a pair of doubles. With the win, Ar-We-Va improved to 6-7 and has now won five straight games. Glidden-Ralston falls to 8-11. The Rockets are back in action on July 8th against Coon Rapids-Bayard. The Wildcats return to the diamond on July 8th against Colo-Nesco.
