The Merchants nearly let the game slip away with scoring 3-runs in the bottom 7th to take a 11-9 lead. Carroll rallied with a pair of runs in the 8th, the put it away in extra innings, scoring 4-runs in the top 11th. Sammy Harris tripled, driving in Bryce Hoskinson to start the 11th inning push. Carroll loaded the bases with a Aiden Cizek walk, followed by a walk from Nolan Oliver. That set up a double from Noah Dutler, scoring all 3-runners, giving Carroll a 15-11 lead. St Joseph didn’t get a baserunner in the bottom 11th. The Merchants gave themselves a chance with a pair of runs in the 8th. Jake McClure singled, driving in Noah Dutler and Logan Harris, tying the game at 11.
Noah Dutler had a big game, leading the Merchants with 3 hits and 4 RBI. He scored 3-runs as well. Jake McClure and Sammy Harris both had 2 hits with McClure driving in 3 RBI and scoring twice, Harris added 2 RBI and scored a run. Bryce Hoskinson scored 2-runs. Nolan Oliver and Dylan Shepherd both had 2 RBI. Billy Robertson earned the win, going 6 innings, allowing 8 earned runs with 5 strikeouts.
The Merchants improved to 11-16 overall and 11-15 in the MINK. They travel to Warren County on Thursday.
