Glenwood At Kuemper- Varsity Doubleheader

Kuemper came out sharp with Kaci Peter hitting a triple and scoring on a sac bunt by Allison Ostrander. Ellie Sibbel wrapped up the scoring with a home run to right-center. The Knights led 2-0 until the 4th inning when Glenwood had a pair of hits and walked three times, helping them score 4-runs. The Rams added a run in the 4th and two more runs in the 5th inning. They led 7-2 with two innings to play. Charlotte Schwabe doubled with 1-out in the 6th and scored on a single by Ellie Sibbel. The Knights went down in order in the 7th with all three strikeouts.

Ellie Sibbel had a big game with 3 hits, including a home run and 2 RBI. Kaci Peter tripled and scored and Charlotte Schwabe doubled and scored. Allison Ostrander drive on a run.

The Knights dropped both ends of the doubleheader, falling in the second game 8-1. They scored in the 4th inning with Ellie Sibbel singling and Megan Kies running for her. Kies scored on a double by Kaylie Diercksen. That tied the game at 1-1 after Glenwood had scored in the top of the 4th. The Rams took the lead for good with a 4-run 5th inning. They scored again in the 6th and 7th innings.

Kaci Peter had a pair of hits for the Knights with Kaylie Diercksen doubling, driving in a run. Megan Kies scored their run and Allison Ostrander, Ellie Sibbel, Ally Sommerfeld and Kaylie Wolterman all had a single.

The pair of losses dropped the Knights to 13-12. They travel to Red Oak on Monday for a varsity doubleheader.

Audubon came out aggressive, taking the extra base and putting pressure on the Crusaders defense. Riley Miller was dominant in the circle, throwing a no-hitter and only allowing two Crusaders to reach base.  Coon Rapids Bayard settled in after the 1st inning, getting a great defensive game from Brooklyn Burmeister at 3rd base. She made several huge plays that kept the Wheelers from putting together several big innings. The Wheelers offensive was productive though, scoring at least 2-runs in four different innings.

Mattie Nielsen set the table for Audubon in the top 1st, taking 2nd base on a ball hit to left field when it looked like she would have to stay at 1st. Taryn Petersen drove her in, then stole 2nd and 3rd base and scored on a ground ball by Jordan Porsch. Riley Miller reached on an error and Lucy Stanerson scored later on a passed ball. The lead was 3-0 after the 1st inning. Anna Hart and Coon Rapids Bayard got out of trouble in the 2nd and 3rd innings, stranded two Wheelers on base in both innings. Riley Miller was in complete control in the circle. She struck out five of the first-seven batters she faced and seven of nine. Aubrey Hoffbauer battled back from down 0-2 to walk in the 2nd inning and Anna Hart reached on an error in the 3rd as the Crusaders only base runners. Miller struck out 14, striking out the side in the 1st and 4th innings and ended the game with a strikeout. Mattie Nielsen singled to leadoff the 4th. Taryn Petersen singled and Jordan Porsch reached on a fielder’s choice.  Riley Miller drove in a run with a single and Alexis Obermeier drove in another run and Audubon went up 5-0. The Wheelers added 3-runs in the 6th inning with Addie Hocker leading it off with a double. Gemini Goodwin and Mattie Nielsen walked, setting it up for Riley Miller to single, scoring a run and Jordan Porsch to double, scoring a pair of runs. A 2-out single by Mattie Nielsen in the 7th started another 3-run rally for Audubon. Nielsen and Taryn Petersen scored on a single by Jordan Porsch, who finished with 5 RBI. Riley Miller drove in Maya King with a single to end the scoring.

Riley Miller pitched a no-hitter, striking out 14 in 7 innings. She allowed 1 walk while having a pair of hits and  2 RBI at the plate. Jordan Porsch had a pair of hits with a double and 5 RBI. Mattie Nielsen had 2 hits and scored 3-runs. Addie Hocker had a double and scored a run and Gemini Goodwin doubled and scored.

Aubrey Hofbauer walked for Coon Rapids Bayard and Brooklyn Burmeister was outstanding defensively at 3rd base.

The Wheelers have won 19 in a row, improving to 22-3. They host Lenox on Thursday. Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 7-9 and will head to Woodbine on Friday.

Emma Leiting singled in the bottom of the 1st and was driven in by Jazmine Molina, putting them up 1-0. This jumped started them into picking up their third state win. Boyer Valley tied the game with a run in the 3rd inning and went ahead with 2-runs in the 4th inning. The Bulldogs took advantage of couple mistakes by Ar-We-Va scoring two unearned runs out of the three they scored to lead 3-1. The Rockets battled back in the 4th with Mollie Leiting walking and scoring later in the inning. The pulled the Rockets within 3-2. A leadoff walk by Annalee Wittrock in the 6th inning started a huge rally. Hallie McCollough singled setting up and RBI single by Jazmine Molina. Delaney Schurke singled to score a run and Amber Ragaller walked to give Ar-We-Va an insurance run. The Bulldogs had the tying run on base in the 7th but couldn’t drive her in.

Amber Ragaller earned the win, going 7 innings and 6 hits and 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts. Jazmine Molina had a pair of hits and drove in a pair of runs. Emma Leiting had 2 runs scored and a base hit, Delaney Schurke drove in a pair of runs and Hallie McCollough had a single and scored a run.

The Rockets have won 3 in a row, moving to 4-7 overall. They host IKM-Manning on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday.

IKM-Manning played one of their best games of the year, falling just short against a Rams team with 16 wins. Ella Richards had a strong night in the circle on senior night. She allowed 3 earned runs with 3 strikeouts and didn’t walk anyone. MVAOCOU used a 4-run 4th inning, taking a 5-0 lead. The Wolves got on the board in the bottom 5th, then scored three times in the 7th. McKenna Benton had a pair of doubles, driving in a run. Hannah McKinney and Alikxa McGinn both had 2 hits with McGinn had a pair of RBI while McKinney scored a run. Anna Stangl had a base hit and scored while Olivia Linde and Caylie Rasmussen both scored.

The loss drops IKM-Manning to 2-24 overall. They head to Ar-We-Va on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday.

Glidden Ralston battled hard into the 4th inning but Woodbine eventually started to score and the Wildcats struggled to hit against Charlie Pryor. They had four hits with Tiela Janssen, Jaelyn Subbert, Elizabeth Lloyd and Brileigh Bock all having one hit. The Tigers finished with six hits but were buoyed by three Wildcats errors, helping them score 9-runs. Woodbine scored 3-runs in both the 5th and 6th innings to pull away.

The loss drops the Wildcats to  8-10. They host Ar-We-Va on Friday.

East Sac had a game slip through their fingertips on Wednesday, leading late before giving up 3-runs in the bottom 6th. They loaded the bases in the top of the 7th but didn’t score with the game ending on a fly ball on the infield. East Sac tied the game at 1 with a run in the 3rd inning. Addisen Ehler tripled and scored on a double by Jamie Pierce. The Raiders took a quick lead in the 4th inning. Kamryn Ross reached on and error and scored to give the Raiders a 2-1 lead. Pocahontas Area added a run in the bottom 4th to tie the game. Jamie Pierce leadoff the 5th with a double and scored, giving the Raiders a 3-2 lead. It stayed that way into the 6th. The Indians started the 6th with a pair of singles, followed by a walk. A fielder’s choice, a walk, hit-by-pitch kept the inning going. A 2-run single broke the tie and helped Pocahontas Area come from behind and win. East Sac had a chance in the 7th. Jamie Pierce walked and Jen Aschinger singled. A single by Anna McCollough loaded the bases with 1-out but the Raiders didn’t get another hit.

Jamie Pierce had 3 hits with all 3 doubles. She added a run scored. Addisen Ehler tripled and scored with Sarah Bontrager driving in a run with a base hit. Jen Aschinger, Anna McCollough and Gracie Snyder all had a base hit.

The loss drops the Raiders to 8-13. They travel to South Central Calhoun on Friday.
