The Kuemper Knights fall in game one of a doubleheader with Glendwood. The Knights trailed the whole game but attempted to take a lead late. Neither team scored in the first and second innings. Glenwood would take the lead in the top of the third inning, scoring twice to take an early 2-0 lead. The Knights responded in the home half of the third inning as they cut into the lead at 2-1. Nobody again scored in the fourth inning as the low-scoring affair continued into the fifth inning. Glenwood would extend their lead in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs and taking a 5-1 lead. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Kuemper would add a couple of runs, cutting into the Glenwood lead. Kuemper was unable to score in the seventh as they would go on to lose 5-3.

In the loss, the Knights recorded four hits. Carter Putney is getting hot at the plate at the right time, as he went 2-4 with a triple and a stolen base. Charles Mayhall and Mason Knerl recorded the other hits for Kuemper. Landon Pottebaum took the loss on the hill, going all seven innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits while striking out three Glenwood batters.

In a high-scoring affair, the Kuemper Knights fall in game two in the doubleheader to Glenwood. Kuemper’s pitching gave up 18 walks in the matchup. Neither team scored in the first inning. A combined 32 walks were awarded in the game between the two teams. Glenwood would take the lead in the second inning, plating five runs to lead 5-0. The lead would grow to 8-0 for Glenwood in the home half of the fourth inning. Kuemper would add seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as the lead would be cut to one at 8-7. The game would be back and forth in the late part of the contest. Glenwood extended their lead in the fifth inning, plating two runs, but Kuemper would respond with three in the home half as the game would be tied 10-10. Glenwood regained the lead at 14-10 in the sixth inning. Kuemper would cut the lead in half with two runs in the home half at 14-12. Glenwood opened the game up in the seventh as they plated nine runs and went on to win 23-13.

The Knights recorded six hits in game two. Carter Putney went 1-4 with a double in the loss and also recorded two RBI. Mason Knerl recorded a multi-hit game, going 2-3 with an RBI. Benicio Lujano, Evan Loew, and John Boes recorded the other hits for Kuemper. Evan Loew also pitched four inning on the mound giving up six earned runs on five hits while striking out two Glenwood hitters. With the loss Kuemper falls to 12-16. The Knights are back in action on Friday against Atlantic and Carroll.

Carroll at Audubon

The Carroll Tigers pick up a win over another local team on Wednesday against Audubon. Carroll led the whole game, but Audubon was able to keep the game close throughout the night. Both teams hit the ball well, and there were a combined 22 hits in the game. Carroll opened the game up in the first inning, plating five runs with only three hits. Sone Sibenaller and Tate Schlieisman had an RBI single in the inning. In the home half, Audubon was able to get a couple of runs back. Aaron Olsen and Evan Alt recorded hits in the inning for the Wheelers. The Tigers did not score in the top of the second as they would lead 5-2 going to the home half. In the bottom of the second inning, the Wheelers bats stayed hot as they picked up three hits, plating two runs to cut it to a 5-4 ball game. The Carroll lead would grow again in the third inning as Chase Ragaller reached on a single and came around to score to make it 6-4.

Carroll’s pitching started to settle in as the Wheelers did not score in the third and fourth innings. In the top of the fourth, the Tigers would plate three runs, taking a 9-4 going to the fifth inning. Audubon scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Aaron Olsen and Brody Schultes had RBI singles in the inning, but Carroll would still lead 9-8 going to the sixth. The Tigers added three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh as they would go on to win 14-8.

In the win, Carroll recorded ten hits. Ryan North went 2-4 with an RBI for the Tigers. Stone Sibenall also had a multi-hit game, going 2-4 with three RBI. Chase Ragaller was 3-4 with a double and three stolen bases. Jackson Gross, Carter Essick, and Tate Schlieisman recorded the other hits for the Tigers. Gross also picked up the win on the hill, going four-plus innings, giving up nine hits and six earned runs while striking out five Audubon hitters. The Wheelers outhit Carroll in the loss as they recorded 12 hits. Aaron Olsen went 3-5 in the loss with a double and two RBI. Brody Schultes and Carson Wessel each recorded two singles and an RBI. Colton Hansen had a multi-hit game, going 2-4, with a double and an RBI. Adam Obrecht recorded a double and a triple as the plate for the Wheelers. Evan Alt took the loss on the hill, going two innings, giving up four earned runs on four hits, and striking out one Carroll batter.

With the loss, Carroll improved to 7-13. The Tigers are back in action on Thursday against Ballard. The loss drops Audubon’s record to 1-21. The Wheelers are back in action on Thursday against Lenox.

The Crusaders led the whole game and scored in all the innings, but the last one was the one they would go on to win at home over Exira-EHK on Wednesday. Exira-EHK held a short lead at the top of the first inning as they would plate one run, taking a 1-0 lead. The Crusaders would respond in the home half with three runs, taking the lead at 3-1. Another run came across in the second inning for the Spartans as their score would go to 3-2. In the bottom of the third inning, two runs came across for CRB, and the lead would grow to 5-2. The Crusaders would add seven runs in the fourth inning as they would go on to win 14-4.

The Crusaders recorded seven hits as a team. Cal Heydon went 2-3 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Ty Heydon continued to swing a hot bat over the last couple of weeks, picking up two hits and four RBI. Kolby Culbertson, Tyler Mohr, and Parker Hays recorded the other hits for the Crusaders. Ty Heydon picked up the win on the mound, going one-plus innings and striking out three Exira-EHK batters. With the win, CRB improved to 16-10. The Crusaders are back in action on Friday against Woodbine.

The IKM-Manning Wolves evened up their record as they beat MVAOCOU in a close game at home on Wednesday. Neither team scored in the first inning. IKM-Manning took the lead in the second inning as they plated one run to make the score 1-0. The third and fourth innings would be scoreless as IKM-Manning held on to a 1-0 lead. MVAOCOU would take the lead in the fifth inning as they plated two runs to take a 2-1 lead. IKM-Manning tied the game up in the home half, plating one run to tie it up at 2-2. The game stayed tied, going to the seventh inning. IKM-Manning would walk it off in the seventh as they would go on to win 3-2.

The Wolves recorded seven hits as a team. Jace Starman went 2-3 in the game with a solo home run. Braden Fuchs went 1-3 with an RBI. Ross Kusel, Lane Sams, Zander Richards, and Tristna Berry recorded the other hits for the Wolves. Ross Kusel picked up the win on the mound, going two innings, giving up two hits, and striking out two MVAOCOU hitters. With the win, IKM-Manning improved to 12-12. The Wolves are back in action on Monday against Coon Rapids-Bayard.

Glidden Ralston played well early, leading 2-0 and 4-2 in the first-three innings. Colby Wallace had his best start of the season and the Wildcats were playing well. Woodbine got their bats going late and the Wildcats started struggling on defense. Glidden Ralston committed 6 errors, allowing 12 unearned runs. The Tigers erupted for 11-runs in the top of the 6th to blow it open. The Wildcats scored a run in the 1st, one in the 2nd and two in the 3rd but didn’t score again. 

Landon Rohrbeck had a pair of hits, including a triple and scored 2-runs. Daniel Thooft had 2 hits and drove in 2-runs. Mark Lensch drove in a run and Colby Wallace added an RBI to go with throwing 5 1/3 innings, allowing 5 earned runs with 5 strikeouts. 

The loss drops the Wildcats to 3-13 overall. They host Ar-We-Va on Friday.

The Rockets defense struggled, helping Boyer Valley score 5 unearned runs. Ar-We-Va finished with 11 errors but settled much better after the 1st inning. They trailed 7-0 heading into the 2nd inning. Boyer Valley extended the lead to 10-0 in the top 2nd. Ar-We-Va got on the board with 3-runs in the 2nd inning, then used a 5-runs 4th inning, having one of their best nights hitting this season. Ar-We-Va were down 15-9 going into the 5th inning. 

Grant Wilken had a team high 2 hits and scored a pair of runs. Johnathan Riesselman drove in a pair of runs and scored twice, part of a 2 hit night. Weston Toft added an RBI and scored a run. 

The Rockets fall to 0-12 and will head to Glidden Ralston on Friday.

East Sac won their third straight, using a big 2nd inning and holding on down the stretch. The Raiders had to come from behind as Pocahontas Area scored 4-runs in the bottom 1st. Luke Wernimont started the East Sac rally in the 2nd inning. He singled, followed by a single from Jack Gullett, Carter Erritt reached on a fielder’s choice, Luke Wright was hit-by-pitch as the Raiders got the first-four batters on base. Tucker Grossley drove in a run before Mason Carlson walked to load the bases. Bradyn Burns had the big hit with a single, scoring 2-runs and Karter Ludwig singled to score their fifth run of the inning. East Sac batted eleven guys in the inning, scoring 5-runs. A Carter Erritt double started the 3rd inning. Erritt scored on a single by Tucker Grossley. Carter Erritt scored what turned into the game winning run in the 5th inning, walking and scoring to put the Raiders up 7-5. Pocahontas Area scored a run in the 6th, pulling within a run. The Indians had a runner on base in the bottom 7th but he was thrown out at 2nd base, trying to steal. 

Carter Erritt, Bradyn Burns and Tucker Grossley all had 2 hits for the Raiders. Erritt doubled and scored 3 runs, Burns doubled, driving in a pair of runs and scored a run. Grossley added an RBI. Luke Wernimont had a base hit and scored a run. Jack Gullett earned the win, going 3 innings, allowing 1 run while striking out 2. 

The Raiders are 5-10 overall and head to Ridge View on Thursday.
