Merchants Fall in Suspended Game From Tuesday

The game on Tuesday was suspended in the 9th inning with the game tied a 3 as a storm rolled through Carroll. They finished the game on Wednesday morning with St Joseph scoring twice in the top 9th and holding the Merchants to win 5-3. Jordan Brandenburg hit a 2-run home run in the 4th inning, putting Carroll up 2-0. St Joseph cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 5th, scoring on a ground out early in the inning. A single, driving in a pair of Mustangs in the 7th put them up 3-2. The Merchants tied the game in the 8th with Aiden Cizek singling to score Sammy Harris. St Joseph scored twice in the 9th on wild pitches. Justin Ricketts singled with 2-out in the bottom 9th, putting the tying run on base but the Merchants weren’t able to rally.

Jordan Brandenburg hit a 2-run home run, Logan harris had a pair of hits and Aiden Cizek had a single, driving in a run and scored a run. Noah Dutler pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run with 5 strikeouts.

The loss dropped the Merchants to 10-16 overall and 10-15 in the MINK. They traveled to St Joseph for a game on Wednesday.
