The Kuemper Knights avenge a loss from earlier in the season with a road win over Denison-Schleswig on Tuesday. Kuemper took advantage of Denison-Schleswig’s mistakes in the early part of the game as the bats came alive late. The Knights scored two runs in the top of the first inning when Kaci Peter and Allison Ostrander came in to score on wild pitches. Kuemper led the whole game. With a two 2-0 lead, a couple more runs came across in the third inning for the Knights to score 2-0. Neither team scored in the fourth and fifth innings. Kuemper plated two more runs in the sixth inning. Ellie Sibbel picked up an RBI double in the inning as the Knights would go on to win 6-0.
Myli Schaefer was excellent in the circle, only giving up two hits and pitching seven scoreless innings while striking out ten Denison-Schleswig batters. As a team, the Knights recorded ten hits. Kaylie Diercksen had a multi-hit game, going 2-3 with a double. All nine batters for Kuemper recorded a hit. Ellie Sibbel was 1-4 with a double and an RBI. Charlotte Schwabe also had an RBI double for the Knights. With the win, Kuemper improves to 13-10 and moves to 8-8 in the Hawkeye Ten. The Knights are back in action on Wednesday in a doubleheader with Glenwood.

The Audubon Wheelers continued their impressive season with a big win on the road at CAM on Tuesday. With the win, the Wheelers win streak moves to 18 straight games. As a team, the Wheelers recorded eight hits. The Wheelers led the whole game. They started scoring at the bottom of the first inning, plating two runs to take an early 2-0. Audubon added another run in the third inning as their lead would grow to 3-0. CAM responded in the top of the third inning as they plated two runs, and the score would move to 3-2. Audubon added a couple of more runs in the third inning as their lead grew to 5-2. The game would continue to be back and forth as it would be 6-4 going to the sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, Audubon plated six runs, and they would go on to win 12-4.
Riley Miller and Alexis Obermeier combined to go seven innings in the circle, giving up three hits and striking out nine CAM batters. Obermeier also went 2-4 at the plate with a solo home run. Taryn Petersen was 2-4 with a triple. Michelle Brooks, Anna Larsen, Jordan Porsch, and Miller recorded the other hits for Audubon. With the win, Audubon improves to 21-3. The Wheelers are back in action on Wednesday against Coon Rapids-Bayard.

In a battle of local teams, Ar-We-Va came out on top in a back-and-forth game against South Central Calhoun. Ar-We-Va scored the game’s first runs in the top of the first inning, plating two runs and taking a 2-0 lead. South Central Calhoun responded in the home, taking a 3-2 lead. Neither team scored in the second inning. Ar-We-Va would take the lead back in the third inning as three runs came across the plate to take a 5-3 lead. The Rocket lead was trimmed to one in the bottom of the fourth inning as SCC plated a run they would trail 5-4. The Titans took the lead back in the fifth inning as they plated three runs, taking a 7-5 lead. Ar-We-Va added four runs in the top of the sixth inning as they would go on to win 9-7 in six innings due to weather.
As a team, Ar-We-Va recorded six hits. Morgan Berg went 2-4 for the Rockets with a couple of RBI. Amber Ragaller went 1-3 with a double and two RBI. Delaney Schurke, Jazmine Molina, and Annalee Wittrock recorded the other hits for the Rockets. For SCC, they recorded 11 hits during the loss. Morgan McChesney picked up a multi-hit game, going 2-4 with a run scored. Mia Babcock also had a two-hit game, going 2-4 with an RBI. Haylee Wiederin was 2-3 with a triple and three runs batted in. Mady Smidt went all six innings in the circle for the Titans, striking out seven Ar-We-Va batters.
With the win, Ar-We-Va improves to 3-7. The Rockets are back in action on Wednesday against Boyer Valley. The loss drops South Central Calhoun’s record to 1-15. The Titans are back in action on Friday against East Sac County.
