Baseball Results Friday, June 21st 

Greene County At Carroll

Carroll earned their 7th win of the season with a pair of big innings leading the way. The Tigers and Rams each had 11-hits but Carroll took advance of the Rams mistakes, scoring 4 unearned runs.  Greene County struck first, scoring a pair of runs in the 1st inning but Carroll took the lead for good in the 2nd inning. Jackson Gross had a 2-run triple with Tate Schleisman and Chase Ragaller both having an RBI single. Carroll’s lead was trimmed in the 3rd with Greene County pushing a run across the board, then tying the game in the 4th. Carroll responded in the 5th, taking charge with 4-runs. Carter Essick and Stone Sibenaller both drove in a run with a single and Braxton Lu singled, driving in 2-runs. Sibenaller made it hold  up over the final 2-innings, shutting the door on the Rams.

Stone Sibenaller earned the win with 7 innings and 10 hits, allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 8. Tate Schleisman led the offense with 3 hits, adding and RBI and scoring once. Jackson Gross had a triple, among his 2 hits. Gross had 2 RBI and scored a run. Braxton Lu had 2 RBI with Chase Ragaller, Carter Essick and Stone Sibenaller all having an RBI.

The Tigers improved to 6-12 overall. They host Boone on Monday.

Audubon scored a pair of runs in the 4th inning, but Tri Center put the game away in the 5th with 3-runs. Evan Alt doubled with 1-out in the 4th and scored on a double by Karter Obermeier. The Wheelers finished the game with three doubles, making up all three of their hits. Brody Weber drove in Karter Obermeier on a ground ball, cutting the deficit to 6-2, heading to the bottom half. Tri Center responded with 3-runs in the bottom of the 4th, all coming with no outs. The Wheelers slammed the door but weren’t able to score in the 5th, setting the stage for Tri Center. They opened the inning with a home run, then added 2-runs with 2-outs to end the game.

Brody Schultes, Evan Alt and Karter Obermeier all doubled with Obermeier having an RBI and scoring a run. Evan Alt scored a run.

The loss drops the Wheelers to 1-19-1 overall and 1-14 in the WIC. They host Bedford on Monday.

East Sac rallied twice, the second time carrying them to a win at home on Friday. The Raiders offense was strong, collecting 11-hits but weren’t able to get many hits with runners in scoring position. They still found a way to score 6-runs which was enough for Carter Erritt and Bradyn Burns. They combined to allow 8-hits and 3-runs but only 1 earned run. They walked 2 and hit 2 batters. West Bend Mallard scored in the 2nd inning, taking a 1-0 lead but the Raiders grabbed the lead with  a pair of runs in the 4th. Luke Wright started the rally, getting hit-by-pitch, one of the two times he got on that way. Tucker Grossley followed it up with a single. Mason Carlson drove in Wright and Grossley scored on a fly out by Bradyn Burns. West Bend Mallard took the lead late, with 2-runs in the top of  the 6th, putting pressure on the Raiders. They stepped up in the bottom half. Tucker Grossley and Mason Carlson both singled, bringing up the top of the order with 2-outs. Bradyn Burns and Landon Sporrer hit back-to-back singles and the Raiders were on a roll. Karter Ludwig singled and East Sac was able to score four straight batters, taking a 6-3 lead. The Wolverines got a runner on base in the 7th but weren’t able to score.

Karter Ludwig had a team high 3 hits. Bradyn Burns and Tucker Grossley both had 2 hits with Grossley scoring twice and Burns scoring once and driving in a run. Mason Carlson had a hit, scoring a run and driving in a run. Carter Erritt went 6 innings for the win, allowing 8 hits and 1 earned run.

The Raiders improved to 4-10 overall. They head to Pocahontas Area on Wednesday.

South Central Calhoun felt like they let one slip away on Friday, allowing 5 unearned runs, making 8 errors while out hitting the Jaguars 6-2. The Titans struck first, scoring a pair of runs in the 2nd inning with Brock Nattress and Aidan Albright singling. They both scored on a single to right by Andrew Anderson. Aidan Albright scored as the ball got away from the catcher, putting the Titans up 2-0. Carson Shaver cruised through the first-two innings, facing the minimum. He walked the first-two batters in the 3rd and SE Valley took advantage. Casey Hanson singled to score a run and the Titans made and errors, allowing 2-runs to score. The Jaguars grabbed the lead at 3-2 and kept the momentum, stranding a Titan runner on base in the 3rd. The struggles in the 4th were the difference. South Central Calhoun had five errors in the 4th, helping the Jaguars score 4 unearned runs. The Titans had back-to-back singles in the 5th but stranded a runner on base. They left four guys on base over the final two innings.

Andrew Anderson had a team high 2 hits, driving in a pair of runs. He pitched the final 3 1/3 innings, striking out 7, allowing no earned runs. Brock Nattress and Aiden Albright both had a hit and scored a run.

The Titans dropped their fourth in a row, dropping to 7-10 overall and 5-5 in the TLC. They host Emmetsburg on Monday.

The Wolves scored 3-runs early, but weren’t able to hold on as AHSTW got 2-runs in the bottom of the 5th to edge IKM-Manning. IKM-Manning scored once in the 1st inning, then got 2-runs in the 2nd and led 3-1. Tristan Barry pitched well, going 5 2/3 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs. The Vikings, who had scored a run in the 1st, broke through in the 4th, pulling within 3-2, then took the lead with a pair of runs in the 5th.

Ross Kusel and Lane Sams had 2 hits each, Kusel scored once and stole 3 bases. Sams and Braden Fuchs both scored a run.

The heartbreaking loss drops the Wolves to 10-12 overall and 4-10 in the WIC. They host Exira-EHK on Tuesday.

Ar-We-Va hung tough early, but the momentum swung in the 3rd inning and Coon Rapids Bayard took control. The Crusaders finished with 10-hits, highlighted by a 3-run double by Tyler Mohr, helping to break the game open. Ty Heydon, Cal Heydon and Kolby Culbertson all had an RBI single. Coon Rapids Bayard scored 4-runs in the 3rd inning, adding 6-runs in the 4th inning.

Coon Rapids Bayard had four guys with 2-hits each. Cal Heydon had a double with 2 RBI and scored a run, Kolby Culbertson scored twice, Tyler Mohr had a double, driving in 3 RBI and Ty Heydon had an RBI, Ty Heydon earned the win in relief, going 3 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 8. Parker Hays scored a pair of runs.

Wyatt Ragaller had 3 hits and Johnathan Riesselman doubled to highlight a 5 hit game for the Rockets.

Coon Rapids Bayard moves to 13-9-1 overall and 9-0 in the RVC. They Woodbury Central on Saturday at Ankeny Centennial as part of the Brent Prange Classic. Ar-We-Va falls to 0-10 overall and 0-8 in the RVC. The Rockets head to South Central Calhoun on Tuesday.
