Carroll Merchants At Chillicothe- Doubleheader

Carroll suffered a tough loss in the first game of the doubleheader, falling 5-2. They picked up 4 hits, turning those into 2-runs. Chillicothe pushed 4-runs across the plate with 3 coming in the 5th inning. A walk by Aiden Cizek in the 2nd inning helped Carroll get on the board. Logan Harris reached on a fielder’s choice as Cizek was forced at 2nd base. Harris scored on a single by Jake McClure, tying the game at 1. Chillicothe added a run a run in the 4th but the Merchants responded in the top of the 5th. Bryce Hoskinson got on base and stole 2nd base, scoring on a ground ball by Sammy Harris. The Merchants missed an opportunity leaving 2 runners on base. Chillicothe struck in the bottom of the 5th, scoring 3-runs to lead 5-2. Carroll left a pair of runners on base in the 7th.

Jake McClure went 2-4 with a RBI, Sammy Harris was 1-3 with an RBI and Noah Dutler doubled. Bryce Hoskinson and Logan Harris scored.

Jake McClure tripled in the 5th, scoring Justin Ricketts who had tripled moments before. That was the offensive highlight for Carroll in the nightcap of the doubleheader. The Merchants finished with 5 hits with back-to-back triples, but the McClure RBI was their only run, falling 6-1. Chillicothe took a 1-0 in the bottom 4th before taking control of the game with a 3-run 5th inning.  A 1-out error helped ignite the rally for Chillicothe in the 5th, they scored 3-runs on 1 hit and didn’t leave anyone on base. The Mudcats added a pair of runs in the 6th. Carroll missed chances with 2-runners on in the 1st inning and 1-runner left on in five of the 7 innings.

Jake McClure and Justin Ricketts both tripled with Ricketts scoring and McClure driving him in. Logan Harris had a pair of hits and Noah Dutler went 5 innings, allowing 5 hits and 4 earned runs with 4 strikeouts.

The pair of losses put Carroll on a 4-game losing streak, dropping them to 7-12 overall and into 7th place in the league.
