Audubon earned their biggest win of the season, traveling to 7th ranked Missouri Valley and pitching a shutout. The Wheelers were able to score a pair of runs in the 1st inning, then added a run in the 5th. They held Missouri Valley to 3 hits and struck out 13 Big Red batters. Audubon had 4 hits, scoring 2 earned runs and struck out 9 times.
The Wheelers won their 13th straight, improving to 16-3 overall and 11-1 in the WIC. They lead Missouri Valley by 2 games in the league in the loss column, having split with them this season and are up by 3 games in the loss column over LoMa and Treynor. They swept Treynor this season and will host LoMa on Tuesday. They beat LoMa 9-3 on June 3rd.

Kuemper won the first game of the doubleheader getting a big night at the plate from Charlotte Schwabe and a strong game in the circle from Myli Schaefer. The Knights struck in the 2nd inning with Morgan Masching reaching on an error, scoring Kaylie Diercksen, who had walked to start the inning. They stranded runners at 3rd base in the 1st and 4th innings. Masching helped them push the lead to 3-0 in the 5th. She led off with a bunt single, followed a batter later by a single from Kaci Peter. Both scored on a double by Charlotte Schwabe. Schwabe wasn’t done yet. The freshman added a 2-run home run in the 7th, knocking in Allison Ostrander, who had reached on an error.
Myli Schaefer was strong in the circle, allowing 1 hit in 7 innings. She struck out 9 and walked 4. Shenandoah had a runner thrown out at home in the 5th. They had one other runner make it to 3rd base in the 3rd inning but didn’t threaten often against Schaefer. Charlotte Schwabe paced the offense with a double and a 2-run home run, driving in 4 RBI and scored a run, Kaci Peter had a par of hits and scored once, Kaylie Diercksen had a double and scored and Morgan Masching had a hit and scored once.

The Kuemper Knights picked up an extra-inning win over Shenandoah in game two of a doubleheader. Kuemper scored the game’s first runs with two in the top of the first inning. Shenandoah added five in the bottom of the second to take a 5-2 lead. Neither team scored in the third inning. The Knights would cut into the lead in the fourth inning, plating a run to make the score 5-3. The Knights would tie the game up at 5-5 in the fifth inning. Shenandoah regained the lead at 6-5 in the home half. Kuemper would send the game to extras and tie the game up in the sixth, but neither team scored in the seventh. In the top of the eighth inning, Kuemper took advantage of the two free bases and an error to go on and win 8-6.
As a team, the Knights recorded eight hits. Melinda Schaefer went 3-3 with a triple and an RBI. Ellie Sibbel and Morgan Masching each recorded multi-hit games. Kaci Peter recorded the other hit for Kuemper. Myli Schaefer picked up the win in the circle for the Knights, going three-plus innings, giving up one hit, and striking out seven Shenandoah batters. With the win, the Knights improved to 11-7. Kuemper is back in action on Tuesday against Atlantic.

South Central Calhoun earned their first win of the season, rallying with 6-runs in the 5th and 3 more runs in the 6th to knock off Storm Lake St Mary’s 17-12. The Titans collected 13 hits and used St Mary’s mistakes, capitalizing on 4 errors in the 5th inning. Mady Smidt and Gracie Hungate combined to hold Storm Lake St Mary’s to 5 hits and 5 earned runs.
The Titans came out aggressive with Olivia Toms bunting for a single and scoring on an error later in the inning. Jayci Graeve also got on base in the 1st and scored on a wild pitch. Storm Lake St Mary’s responded in the 2nd inning with 5-runs on 3 hits. They added a pair of runs in the 3rd but South Central Calhoun cut into the deficit, scoring 4-runs in the 3rd. Olivia Toms singled with 1-out, Jayci Graeve walked and Mady Smidt ripped a double to the centerfield fence. Mia Babcock added a single to score Graeve from 3rd, then scored on a passed ball. The Titans trailed 7-6 going into the 4th before taking the lead back in the bottom half. Shannon Melody singled and scored on a passed ball, Olivia Toms singled and scored on a base hit from Jayci Graeve. Storm Lake St Mary’s grabbed the lead back with 3-runs in the top 5th but the Titans exploded for 6-runs in the bottom 5th. Shannon Melody added an RBI single in the 5th and Olivia Toms appeared to hit a 3-run home run but was called out at the plate for being touched before crossing home plate. Jayci Graeve added a singled and scored before the inning ended. The Panthers scored two quick runs in the 6th but Gracie Hungate slammed the door with the defense helping. The Titans scored 3 insurance runs in the bottom 6th. Gracie Hungate singled and Lily Scheidigger scored on a RBI double from Shannon Melody. Tori Best knocked in Melody and scored on a wild pitch later in the inning. Gracie Hungate sat the Panthers down in order in the 7th with three strikeouts.
Olivia Toms had 4 hits including a triple with a pair of RBI and scored 3 times. Shannon Melody had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI, scoring 3 times and Jayci Graeve added a pair of hits with 2 RBI and 3-runs scored. Mia Babcock had 2-runs scored as did Lily Scheidigger and Tory Best. Gracie Hungate earned the win, going 4 innings, allowing 2 hits and 3 earned runs with 7 strikeouts.
The Titans improved to 1-11. They head to Newell Fonda on Wednesday.

East Sac dropped a tight game that was moved to Wall Lake on Monday, getting out hit 4-2 and outscored 4-0. The Raiders had a runner on base in the 1st and 4th inning but weren’t able to move them past 1st base. The Rebels took advantage of Raiders miscues scoring a unearned run in the 1st inning and 3rd inning and two unearned runs in the 4th. Anna McCollough singled in the 4th inning and Kamryn Ross singled in the 2nd inning. Gracie Snyder walked in the 1st inning. Miranda Gerdes pitched very well, allowing 4 hits with 5 strikeouts in 6 innings.
The loss drops the Raiders to 6-9 overall as they prepare to head to Carroll on KIKD 106.7 on Tuesday.

Ar-We-Va played extremely well on the road, tied a 1-1 going into the 6th inning. The Rockets tied the game in the 3rd when Amber Ragaller doubled and scored on a base hit by Gabbie Hundling. Ragaller was strong in the circle all night, allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run with 2 strikeouts and no walks. The unearned run came at a bad time for the Rockets with CAM using a pair of errors to score a run in the bottom of the 6th. Amber Ragaller walked to start the top of the 7th and moved to 2nd base but was stranded there when the game ended.
Ar-We-Va had 3 hits with Amber Ragaller doubling and Jazmine Molina and Gabbie Hundling both singling. Hundling added a RBI and Ragaller scored their lone run. Morgan Berg and Hallie McCollough both walked and Delaney Schurke was hit-by-pitch.
The loss drops the Rockets to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They are off until Friday when they host Coon Rapids Bayard.
