The Merchants fell at home on Sunday in a  non-Mink League game. They hosted Kansas City Monarchs, falling 7-2. The Monarchs scored a run in the 1st and two more in the 2nd before the Merchants got on the board. Nolan Oliver walked for Carroll with one out in the 3rd, and scored on a double by Aiden Cizek. Cizek scored moments later on a single by Logan Harris. The Merchants never threatened again, getting a hit in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 9th didn’t score. Kansas City added 3-runs in the 8th and one more in the 9th.

Logan Harris had a team high 3 hits and Aiden Cizek added a pair of hits with a double and an RBI. Xavier Lerma and Cullen McBride both doubled. Noah Dutler pitched 3 innings, 2 hits and 4 K’s. Quentin Culbertson took the loss, going 4 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 earned runs.

The Merchants fell to 7-11 overall. The Merchants head to Chillocothe on Wednesday for a doubleheader.
