The Merchants let one slip away on Friday on the road as their 4-game winning streak came to an end. They built a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the 8th, were they allowed 5-runs to trail for the first time in the game. Carroll went down in order in the 9th.
The Merchants grabbed the lead in the 4th when Jovan Suarez singled to score Aiden Cizek and moved Dylan Shepheard to 3rd base. Shepherd scored moments later on a double steal as Suarez stole 2nd base. They added an insurance run in the 8th when Sammy Harris scored after singling on a fielder’s choice by Aiden Cizek. Clarinda took advantage of an early error, pushing 5-runs across the plate with 4 hits and leaving 2 on base.
The loss drops the Merchants to 7-10. They are off Saturday and return home on Sunday on the CB Sports Network YouTube channel against Kansas City Monarchs at 7:00.
