Softball Results Friday, June 14th 

Nevada At Carroll

Carroll scored 8-runs in one inning, collected 13 hits and led 9-6 going into the 6th inning. They fell just short as Nevada scored 4-runs in the top of the 7th and then shut the Tigers down in the bottom half to rally for a 10-9 win. The Tigers played but were hurt by 6 errors, keeping innings alive for the Cubs. The Tigers trailed 3-0 going into the 4th when the offense erupted for 8-runs. Nevada responded with a 3-run 5th inning but Carroll got another run in the 6th to lead 9-6.

Kloee Jones paced the offense for Carroll with 3  hits and 2 RBI. Emma Kuhlmann, Averi Burke and Bella Lu all had 2 hits. Burke scored twice, Kuhlmann scored once and Lu scored once. Parker Adams doubled, driving in a pair of runs and Jersey Sporrer added 2 RBI. Averi Burke took the loss, allowing 12 hits and 7 earned runs in 7 innings.

The loss drops the Tigers to 6-15 overall. They travel to top ranked North Polk on Monday.

Audubon Stats 

The Audubon Wheelers picked up an exciting extra-inning win over I-35 on Friday to keep their winning streak alive. Both Pitchers were dominant from start to finish. Riley Miller went all fifteen innings in the circle for the Wheelers. She started the game, striking out four batters through the first two innings. Audubon would have chances to score as the game went on with a run on base in five of the first seven innings. The Wheelers put the ball in play but were unable to get timely hits as the game would stay tied at 0-0 going to the seventh inning; neither team scored in the seventh as the game would go to an extra inning. Miller threw eight innings of no-hit softball for the Wheelers. In the top of the ninth inning, I-35 hit two doubles, plating one run to take a 1-0. The Wheelers would respond in the home half with two extra-base hits of their own off the bats of Addie Hocker and Michelle Brooks. Both defenses were outstanding during the game, making plays to keep the score close. Going to the 15th inning, the game would stay tied 1-1. Miller continued to pitch well as she would pick up two strikeouts sending it to the home half of the inning. Alexis Obermeier led the bottom of the 15th off with a single. Lucy Stanerson would come in to pinch run and would advance to second on a wild pitch. Michelle Brooks laid down a sac bunt, which moved the run to third. With two outs in the inning, Addie Hocker came to the plate and ripped a line drive single off the diving glove of 1-35’s first baseman, which brought in the winning run. The Wheelers would go on to win 2-1 and would win their 12th straight game. 

As a team, the Wheelers collected 12 hits. Mattie Nielsen went 3-6 with three singles at the plate. Jordan Porsch also had a multi-hit game, going 3-6. Anna Larsen recorded two singles for Audubon in the game. Taryn Petersen, Alexis Obermeier, and Michelle Brooks also recorded hits. Addie Hocker recorded two hits along with two RBI. Riley Miller picked up the win in the circle, going 15 innings, striking out 23 batters, and giving up three hits. With the win, Audubon improved to 15-3. The Wheelers are back in action on Saturday at the Griswold tournament.

South Central Calhoun At East Sac

Olivia Toms singled to lead off the game, stole 3rd base and scored on an error as South Central Calhoun jumped out 1-0 immediately. The Raiders appeared primed to answer in the bottom of the 1st, loading the bases with no outs but the Titans induced an infield fly rule and threw a Raider out at home for a double play. Mady Smidt caught a pop up to end threat and the Titans led 1-0 going into the 2nd inning. Miranda Gerdes cruised through the 2nd inning, throwing eight pitches and East Sac took control. They scored 5-runs on 2  hits and 2 Titans errors in the 2nd inning, then strung together eight straight batters scoring in the 3rd inning to end the game. Kendall Quirk drove in the game ending runs with a base hit up the middle.

Kendall Quirk led East Sac with a pair of hits, including a double. She added 4 RBI and scored twice. Miranda Gerdes went 3 innings for the win, allowing 1 hit and no earned runs. She struck out 3. Jamie Pierce had a triple and scored twice and Jen Aschinger had an RBI and scored twice. Gracie Snyder added a pair of RBI.

Olivia Toms singled and scored for the Titans and Tori Best had an walk.

The Raiders improved to 6-8 overall and head to Sioux Central on Monday. South Central Calhoun falls to 0-11 and hosts Storm Lake St Mary’s on Monday.

Glidden Ralston put together one of their best performances of the season. Jaelyn Subbert was strong in the circle, the defense played flawless and the offense picked up enough key hits, including another home run from Elizabeth Lloyd. The Wildcats out hit CAM 11 to 4, scoring 4-runs in the 3rd inning, then adding 2-runs in the 6th inning.

Elizabeth Lloyd had 3 hits, including a home run, driving in 3-runs. Ashlynn Tigges, Tiela Janssen and Kassidy Wenck all had 2 hits with Tigges doubling, driving in a run and scoring once. Janssen had an RBI and scored twice while Wenck had 1-run scored. Allison Snyder added a run scored. Jaelyn Subbert earned the win, going 7 innings, allowing 4 hits with 6 strikeouts.

The Wildcats have won 3 in a row, improving to 6-7 overall and 3-2 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to Ridge View on Monday.

Ar-We-Va dropped their second straight, going 1-2 this week as they lost on the road at Woodbine. Delaney Schurke had the lone hit for Ar-We-Va and was their only baserunner. Woodbine scored 3-runs in both the 1st and 2nd inning, then ended the game with 4-runs in the 5th.

The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 1-5 overall 1-5 in the Rolling Valley. The Rockets head to CAM on Monday.

IKM-Manning finished the game with 4 hits, with four different players having a hit. Anna Stangl doubled while Karlee Arp, Keagan Eischeid and Lauren Greving all had singles. Arp was on base twice, earning the Wolves only walk as Riverside was strong in the circle. Riverside scored 2-runs in the 2nd inning, adding 4-runs in the 3rd inning. They scored twice in both the 4th and 5th inning to end the first game of the doubleheader.

IKM-Manning dropped the second game of the doubleheader, falling in 5 innings. Karlee Arp pitched well, allowing 14 hits, but she only walked 2 and allowed only 6 earned runs. The Wolves defense struggled with 5 errors, helping Riverside score 8 unearned runs. Hannah McKinney reached base on an error and was the only Wolves to reach base.

The pair of losses drop IKM-Manning to 2-18 overall. They head to LoMa on Monday.
