Baseball Results For Thursday, June 13th

The Kuemper Knights got a good pitching performance from Ethan Loew on the mound but gave up a big inning late to go on a fall at home to Harlan. Neither team scored in the first inning as the game would be tied 0-0 going to the second. In the home half of the second, Kuemper was able to get a couple of runs on two hits. Mason Knerl picked up a fit that brought in one of the runs as the Knights would take a 2-0 lead. Tristan Janson recorded an RBI double at the bottom of the third as Kuemper extended their lead to 3-0. The Knights’ pitching and defense would lock in over the next couple of innings as the game remained 3-0 going to the seventh inning. In the top of the seventh, the Knights were able to get the first out, but Harlan was able to take advantage of a base hit and a couple of walks that loaded the bases. Harlan would score six runs in the seventh and take their first lead at 6-3. Kuemper was able to load the bases in the home half of the seventh but could not push a run across as they would go on to lose 6-3.

Ethan Loew was great on the mound, going six-plus innings, giving up one earned run, and striking out five Harlan hitters. John Anthofer took the loss, giving up one run, which was earned. As a team, Kuemper recorded six hits. Mason Knerl was 2-3 with an RBI. Tristian Janson went 1-4 with a double and an RBI. John Boes, Josh Langel, and Benicio Lujano recorded the other hits for the Knights. With the loss, Kuemper falls to 8-11. The Knights are back in action on Monday against Shenandoah in a varsity doubleheader.

Carroll at ADM

The Carroll Tigers held an early lead but fell on the road Thursday to ADM. Neither team scored in the first inning, as the game would remain scoreless. In the top of the second inning, Chase Ragaller stole second base and came around to score on an overthrow by the catcher to give Carroll an early 1-0 lead. Baxton Lu had a great game in the third inning. He would single and come around to score, making it 2-0 in favor of the Tigers. ADM would take the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, plating four runs to go up 4-2. ADM would add a run in the fifth, and another one in the sixth as their lead would grow to 6-2. Carroll would make things interesting as they would score two runs in the seventh inning but would fall 6-4.

Carroll committed two errors, which led to three unearned runs. Trey Tassell suffered the loss on the hill, going four-plus innings, giving up two earned runs, and striking out one ADM batter. As a team, Carroll recorded six hits. Braxton Lu was 3-3 with a run scored. Carter Essick, Stone Sibenaller, and Chase Ragaller recorded the other hits for the Tigers. Ragaller also picked up three strikeouts on the mound. With the loss, Carroll falls to 4-10 and 0-9 in conference play. The Tigers are back in action on Friday against Nevada.

Audubon at Underwood

The Audubon Wheelers fall on the road to a good Underwood team on Thursday. As a team, Audubon only recorded three hits. Underwood scored first as they plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning, taking an early 2-0 lead. Neither team scored in the second. The Underwood lead would grow as they added five more runs in the third, taking a 7-0 lead. Two more runs came across in the four as Underwood would lead 9-0. Audubon scored their first run in the fifth but would go on to lose 11-1 to Underwood in five innings. Aaron Olsen, Brody Schultes, and Karter Obermeier recorded the hits for Audubon. Carson Meaike took the loss on the mound, going three-plus innings, giving up four earned runs, and striking out three Underwood hitters. With the loss, Audubon falls to 1-14-1. The Wheelers are back in action on Friday against Interstate 35.

IKM-Manning at Missouri Valley

IKM-Manning held an early lead on the road Thursday but fell to Missouri Valley. IKM-Manning jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. In the home half, Missouri Valley would respond with two runs as they would take their first lead at 2-1. The game continued to go back and forth as the Wolves tied the game up at 2-2 in the second inning. IKM-Manning took the lead back in the fourth inning at 3-2. Missouri Valley would respond again in the fourth’s home half with three runs, taking the lead back at 5-3. Missouri Valley would add a run in the fifth as they would go on to win 6-3.

As a team, IKM-Manning recorded ten hits. Ross Kusel was 3-4 with a run scored. Jace Starman went 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Starman also suffered the loss on the hill, going five-plus innings, giving up one earned run on seven hits, and striking out two batters. Braden Fuchs and Zander Richards both had multi-hit games for the Wolves. With the loss, IKM-Manning falls to 8-8. The Wolves are back in action on Friday against Riverside.
