Carroll topped St Joseph for a second straight night, giving the Mustangs their first-two losses of the season. They out hit them 12 to 8, helping them score in each of the first-three innings. A run in the 6th and 7th innings ended up being the difference as St Joseph’s nearly rallied late, scoring 3-runs in the bottom of the 8th.

The Merchants scored a pair of runs in the 1st, gaining early control of the game. Jake McClure singled to keep his hot streak at the plate going. He later scored on a walk to Aiden Cizek, giving the Merchants a 1-0 lead. Sammy Harris walked and scored on a single by Logan Harris. The Merchants collected three hits in the inning, leaving three guys on base. Jake McClure singled to right field in the 2nd inning, moving to 3rd base before stealing home. St Joe answered with a run in the bottom 2nd but the Merchants lead 3-1. McClure helped the Merchants score again in the 3rd, singling with 2 outs. Arrington Eason scored on the play as the Mustangs threw the ball away. St Joe bounced back with a run in the bottom 3rd but the Merchants were up 4-2. Jake McClure singled in the 6th and scored on a error after Noah Dutler popped up to the 1st baseman. Carroll added an insurance run in the 7th when Logan Harris led off with a triple and scored on a ball off the bat of Nolan Oliver, who reached on an error. St Joe scored 3-runs in the bottom 8th on 3 hits and left 2 on base. Carroll took a 6-5 lead into the 9th. Arrington Eason walked and Jake McClure reached on a fielders choice but the Merchants stranded both on base. St Joe had the tying run at 2nd base in the bottom 9th but the Merchants held on for their fourth straight win.

Jake McClure had 4 hits and scored 3-runs. Noah Dutler had a pair of hits as did Logan Harris who tripled, driving in a run and scored. Arrington Eason had a base hit and scored and Aiden Cizek drove in a run. Billy Robertson earned the win, going 6 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs.

The win moves Carroll to 7-9 as they head to Clarinda on Friday.
