Harlan At Kuemper

Kuemper 5

Harlan 1

Kuemper scored three quick runs to start the bottom of the 1st and exacted revenge for a loss earlier this season. Kaci Peter and Allison Ostrander both bunted and reached to open the inning and Charlotte Schawbe singled to score both. Schwabe scored a couple batters later on a single by Kaylie Diercksen. That would have been enough for Myli Schaefer in the circle as she was in control all game. She went the distance allowing 2 hits and 0 earned runs while striking out 10. The Cyclones didn’t score until the 7th. By that time, Kuemper added 2-runs in the 2nd inning to lead 5-0. Kyla Wiskus lead off the 2nd with a walk and scored on a single by Allison Ostrander. Charlotte Schwabe single for the second straight inning and scored on a triple by Ellie Sibbel. The Knights threatened in the 5th with Ellie Sibbel getting to 3rd base but they didn’t score. Harlan had a runner at 2nd base in the 2nd inning but didn’t get another runner in scoring position until the 7th when they used back-to-back walks to load the bases and scored on a single. The Knights got out of trouble and didn’t allow any more runs. Mylie Schaefer sat the Cyclones down in order in the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 6th innings.

Missouri Valley 22

IKM-Manning 1                  (3 Innings)

Missouri Valley hit the ball hard and found a number of gaps on Thursday as the top IKM-Manning in 3 innings. The Wolves hit the ball well, getting at least one base hit in all 3 innings and striking out only one time. They had two runners on base in the 1st inning, after Anna Stangl singled to lead off the inning and Alikxa McGinn singled. The inning ended on a strange double play, on a flare that appeared to be caught by the 2nd baseman. No called was made and Missouri Valley was able to throw the runners out at 3rd and 2nd to end the threat. Emma Branning hit a nice double in the 2nd inning and moved to 3rd on a ground ball by Lauren Greving. Olivia Linde singled to start the 3rd inning and scored on a hit by Alikxa McGinn when the Big Red threw the ball away at 3rd base. The Big Red offense clicked all night and they stayed aggressive at the plate and on the base paths all game. They collected 8 hits and scored 9-runs in the 1st inning. They added 7-runs in the 2nd inning and finished the game with a 6-run 3rd inning which included a double steal to make the score 20-0.

Alikxa McGinn had a pair of hits, Anna Stangl and Olivia Linde both had a hit and Emma Branning doubled.
