Carroll had two nice innings offensively, but struggled on defense, allowing 8 unearned runs, due to 5 errors. The Tigers loss drops them to 4-9 overall and 0-8 in the Raccoon River Conference. Gilbert jumped out early, leading 4-0 after the 1st inning and 5-0 after two innings. Carroll tried to battle back in the 3rd. Tate Schleisman tripled, scoring a pair of runs and Ryan North singled to score the third run for Carroll. Gilbert blew it open with a 5-run 5th inning, going up 12-3. Carroll pushed 3-runs across the plate in the 7th inning. Chase Ragaller picked up an RBI on a groundout and Chase Schable scored on a wild pitch. Jake Jorgensen drove in Carroll’s final run.

Tate Schleisman had a pair of hits, highlighted by a triple with 2 RBI and scored twice. Ryan North added a pair of his and an RBI. Jackson Gross finished with 2 hits, Jake Jorgensen had an RBI and a base hit and Chase Ragaller had an RBI and scored once.

Carroll heads to ADM on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday.

Glidden Ralston At Ar-We-Va

Glidden Ralston scored 5-runs in the 1st inning, then scored in all but one inning as they earn a hard fought road in to move to 3-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. Ar-We-Va fought back after trailing 5-0 to start the game, trailing 8-4 going into the 4th inning. Glidden Ralston finished with 16 hits, holding Ar-We-Va to 6 hits. The Rockets struggled on defense early, committing 4 errors, but they didn’t make an error over the final 3 innings. The Wildcats gave Ar-We-Va a number of chances, committing 7 errors in the game but made plays when they needed to get out of trouble.

Blayce Nelson reached on an error to start the game and was followed by Jonathan Bergmeier with a single. Daniel Thooft singled to score Bergmeier after Nelson scored on a passed ball. Waylon Hein singled and Alex Daniel walked, setting up a 2-run single by Collin Sturm and the Wildcats led 5-0. Ar-We-Va answered with a run in the bottom of the 1st as Blayne Smith singled and scored on a wild pitch. Both teams scored in the 2nd, but Ar-We-Va missed a chance to cut into the deficit. They had bases loaded with 1-out, but the inning ended with a strikeout and the runner at 2nd base being picked off. Blayce Nelson and Jonathan Bergmeier had RBI for the Wildcats in the 3rd as they scored a pair of runs. Ar-We-Va answered with 2-runs in the bottom 3rd with Johnathan Riesselman having a sac fly to score Wade Ragaller. Glidden Ralston crept away over the next couple innings with Alex Daniel driving in Colby Wallace in the 4th and Blayce Nelson and Jonathan Bergmeier having an RBI each in the 5th. Derek Thomsen had an RBI sac fly in the 5th for Ar-We-Va but they trailed 11-5 going to the  6th. Jonathan Bergmeier took over for Blayce Nelson in the 4th and finished the game for the Wildcats as they picked up the win.

Jonathan Bergmeier went 4-4 with a pair of doubles, 2 RBI and scored 3 times for Glidden Ralston. Blayce Nelson had 3 hits with 2 RBI and scored 3-runs. He earned the win with 3 innings and 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts. Daniel Thooft and Colby Wallace both had 2 hits with Thooft having 2 RBI and Wallace doubling. Collin Sturm had 2 RBI and Landon Rohrbeck scored twice.

Blayne Smith and Devon Ehlers both had 2 hits for the Rockets with Smith scoring twice and Ehlers having an RBI and a runs scored. Wade Ragaller scored a pair of runs while Derek Thomsen had a base hit with an RBI and scored once.

Glidden Ralston moves to 3-8 overall and will host CAM on Friday while Ar-We-Va slips to 0-6 and will travel to Woodbine on Friday.

IKM-Manning erupted for 13-runs in the 1st inning, taking charge immediately. They finished the game with 8 hits and driving in 8-runs. Griswold scored once in the 2nd inning, adding their last 2-runs in the 5th inning. Ross Kusel, Jace Starman and Brock Kusel all had 2 hits with Ross doubling, driving in a pair of runs and scoring twice, Starman had an RBI and Brock added a pair of RBI and scored twice. Kasche Huehn scored twice, Bryc Summerfield had a base hit, driving in a run and scoring once. Braden Fuchs drove in a run and scored a run. Karsyn Lorenzen scored 2-runs.

The win improves the Wolves to 8-7 overall and 3-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. They head to Missouri Valley on Thursday.

Coon Rapids Bayard earned a huge win on Wednesday, erupting for 6-runs in the 2nd inning to take a commanding lead. Kolby Culbertson took over from there, going the distance, allowing 2 hits. The win puts the Crusaders in first place in the league and gives them a lead in the loss column against Woodbine, which was undefeated overall going into the game. The Crusaders took advantage of their hits, finishing with 5 hits and only one of them was an extra base hit. They worked the count and battled to walk 7 times. Cal Heydon had a pair of RBI singles and Parker Hays added an RBI single, finishing with 2 RBI.  Coon Rapids Bayard led 1-0 after the 1st inning but Woodbine tied the game in the 2nd. The Crusaders exploded for 6-runs in the bottom 2nd and extended the lead with a pair of runs in the 4th inning.

Kolby Culbertson earned the win, going 7 innings with 2 hits with 1 earned run while striking out 6. Cal Heydon had a team high 2 hits with a pair of RBI. Kolby Culbertson doubled and scored twice, Parker Hays  and Tyler Mohr both had a pair of RBI and Caden Oswald scored twice.

The Crusaders improved to 10-8-1 and 3-0 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They are off until Monday when they travel to Boyer Valley.

South Central Calhoun led most of the game but trailed late after Pocahontas Area scored 3-runs in the top of the 6th to take a 4-3 lead. The Titans didn’t answer in the 6th but did in the 7th. They tied the game, then loaded the bases with Brock Nattress coming to the plate. He worked his way into a game ending walk, scoring Cooper Nattress from 3rd. The win improves the Titans to 6-6 overall and 4-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference. South Central Calhoun scored in the bottom 1st but Pocahontas Area answered with a run in the top 2nd. The Titans went back ahead with a pair of runs in the bottom 3rd. The game stayed that way into the 6th when Pocahontas Area scored 3 times to set up the Titans 7th inning rally. They finished the game with 8 hits with Caleb Juhl collecting their only extra base hit.

Charlie Nattress had 3 hits with an RBI and went 5 1/3 innings on the hill, allowing 7 hits and 4 earned runs with 6 strikeouts. Caleb Juhl had a pair of hits with a double and 3 RBI. Kaden Dorman had a pair of hits and scored twice. Brock Nattress had the game winning RBI and Cooper Nattress scored the game ending run. Aidan Albright earned the win, going 1 2/3 innings, allowing 1 hit and struck out 1.

East Sac’s rally fell short, leaving 13 runners on base, scoring five of their 7 runs in the 5th and 6th inning combined. The Raiders fell down 4-0 in the 2nd inning but responded in the 3rd with a pair of runs. The Jaguars pushed their lead to 7-2 with 3-runs in the bottom 3rd. A 4-run 5th put the Raiders right back into the game with Bradyn Burns and Luke Wernimont both collecting 2 RBI singles. East Sac trailed by one heading into the bottom 5th but SE Valley scored 2-runs to take a 3-run lead into the 6th. Luke Wright singled in the 6th and came in to score on a ground out by Bradyn Burns. The Raiders rally ended with a ground out. They went down in order in the 7th.

Bradyn Burns finished with a pair of hits and 3 RBI. Carter Erritt had a pair of hits, driving in a run and scoring once. Luke Wright had a hit and scored twice while Luke Wernimont drove in 3-runs.

The Raiders fell to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They host South Central Calhoun on Friday.
