Bella Lu drove in Bailey Bowman in the 5th inning for the Tigers lone run as the Tigers fell in 5 innings to 8th ranked Winterset. Bowman had reached on an walk earlier in the inning. Winterset scored 6-runs in the top of the 5th to build a 15-0 lead after scoring 6-runs in the 2nd inning to go up 7-0.

The loss drops the Tigers to 6-11 overall and 0-7 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers host Storm Lake on Tuesday.

Kuemper At Creston- Varsity Doubleheader

The Knights had a pair of hits in the 1st inning with Charlotte Schwabe and Ellie Sibbel getting back-to-back singles but the Knights didn’t score and Creston took advantage. The Panthers used a pair of singles, a fielder’s choice and a walk to score 3-runs in the bottom half. They added a run in the 5th inning, then held off a Kuemper rally in the 6th inning. Kuemper had three runners reach base in the 6th inning but weren’t able to advance anyone to 3rd base. They stranded a pair of runners on base in the 5th as they kept battling.

Ellie Sibbel paced the offense with a pair of hits, including a double. Ally Sommerfeld added a double and Kaci Peter, Charlotte Schwabe and Kaylie Wolterman all had a base hit. Myli Schaefer allowed 2 earned runs with 5 strikeouts in 6 innings.

Kuemper offense rolled in the second game of the doubleheader, scoring the first-three batters of the game and four of the first-five. Kaci Peter and Charlotte Schwabe singled during the run, helping Kuemper lead 4-0 after the top of the 1st inning. Creston scored a run in the bottom half, but was shut out until a 2-run home run in the 5th extended the game another inning. The Knights kept the pressure on in the 2nd inning with Kaci Peter and Kaylie Diercksen getting singles. Diercksen drove in a pair of runs and Charlotte Schwabe added an RBI as she reached on an error. The Knights were up 7-1 after 2 inning. Ellie Sibbel added an RBI single in the 4th inning and Ally Sommerfeld knocked in a run as Kuemper added a pair of runs to lead 9-1. They extended the lead to 11-1 in the 5th with Kaci Peter driving in Allison Ostrander and Morgan Masching scoring on a wild pitch. Kuemper looked like they might put the game away in 5 innings but Creston got a double and a home run, extending the game. Kuemper responded with a 5-run top of the 6th. Morgan Masching had an RBI, knocking in Allison Ostrander, then scored on a double by Melinda Schaefer, who also drove in Kaci Peter who had an RBI single. Charlotte Schwabe added the final run with a single to score Schefer. The 6th inning rally started with Kaylie Diercksen collecting her third straight single in the game.

The Knights collected 16 hits with Kaci Peter leading the way with 4 hits and scoring 3 times. Kaylie Diercksen added 3 hits with 2 RBI and scoring twice and Charlotte Schwabe, Allison Ostrander and Morgan Masching all had 2 hits with Schwabe adding 2 RBI, Ostrander scoring twice and Masching scoring a pair of runs. Megan Kies added a pair of runs and Melinda Schaefer had a double, driving in a pair of runs and scoring 3-runs. Charlotte Schwabe earned the win, going 6 innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs.

The split improved Kuemper to 7-6 overall as they head to Lewis Central on Tuesday for another varsity doubleheader.

Newell Fonda At East Sac

The Raiders were no hit on Monday as Newell Fonda erupted for 9-runs in the 4th inning to separate in what had been a tight game. East Sac got through the 1st and 3rd innings, allowing only one base runner each inning but Newell Fonda did their damage in the 2nd and 4th innings. They scored 4-runs in the 2nd inning on 3 hits. The Raiders defense struggled for the first time in the game in the 4th inning, making 3 errors that allowed 9 unearned runs. The Mustangs took advantage of the mistakes, finishing the inning with 6 hits.

The loss drops East Sac to 6-6 overall. They host MVAOCOU on Tuesday.

Ar-We-Va earned their first win of the season, rolling on the road with both the offense and defense clicking. The Rockets finished with 9 hits, helping them score 19-runs and score in every inning but the 3rd. They blew the game open in the 2nd inning, scoring 8-runs to take an 11-1 lead. Ar-We-Va had six players collect hits and with eight players scoring a run and seven players drive in a run. Amber Ragaller was strong in the circle again, allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts.

Emma Leiting had a big game at the plate, finishing with 3 hits, including a double. She drove in 4 RBI and scored 4-runs. Jazmine Molina added a pair of hits, driving in 3 RBI. Gabbie Hundling, Karime Sanchez and Amber Ragaller all had 2 RBI with Ragaller scoring 4-runs and Hundling scoring 3-runs. Mollie Leiting and Sarah Melton both scored a pair of runs.

Audubon found a way to win on the road on Monday, scoring 5-runs on 5 hits and holding on late as Riverside tried to rally down the stretch. The Wheelers scored twice in the 2nd inning, then responded to a Bulldog run in the bottom half with a 3-run top of the 3rd. Riverside added a run in the 5th, then 2 more runs in the 6th but the Wheelers were able to close the door. Alexis Obermeier had a strong start, allowing 1 earned run over 5 innings on 3 hits. Riley Miller came in and closed the door late, pitching the final 2 innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 earned run. They combined to strikeout 11. Gemini Goodwin had a big hit for the Wheelers, driving in a pair of runs. Taryn Petersen did a nice job getting on base, walking 3 times, helping her score twice. Michelle Brooks and Jordan Porsch both had a base  hit and scored a run. Mattie Nielsen had a team high 2 hits.

The win improved Audubon to 12-3 and kept them a game up on Missouri Valley and LoMa in the conference race. They host Treynor on Tuesday on 93.7 KKRL.

Glidden Ralston played one of their better games of the season, falling in a tight game at Woodbine. The Wildcats rallied back after giving up 5-runs in the 4th inning to trail 6-0. They scored 4-runs in the top of the 5th, highlighted with a solo home run from Kassidy Wenck. Ashlynn Tigges doubled, driving in a run and scored a run later in the inning. Glidden Ralston outhit the Tigers, who used 8 walks and an error to score 3 unearned runs.

Ashlynn Tigges paced the Wildcats with a pair of hits, both doubles, scoring once and driving in a run. Kassidy Wenck hit a solo home run with Tiela Janssen singling and scoring a run and Zoey Pemble scoring a run. Jaelyn Subbert pitched well in the loss, allowing 3 hits and 4 earned runs in 6 innings. She struck out 4.

The Wildcats slip to 3-7 and will head to Manson NW Webster on Tuesday.
