Glidden Ralston At Kuemper

Kuemper used two big innings to end the game against Glidden Ralston in 6 innings, scoring 4-runs in the 3rd and 5-runs in the 6th inning. The Knights got their offense rolling, collecting 10 hits, including three extra base hits, out hitting Glidden Ralston, which finished with 2 hits. Charlotte Schwabe was strong in the circle, striking out 3 and walking 2. She trusted her defense which did a nice job making plays. The Knights had one error, coming in the 4th inning, but it didn’t hurt.

Kaylie Diercksen and Ellie Sibbel looked really strong at the plate for Kuemper. Diercksen jump started the offense in the 3rd inning with a double to start the inning. She scored on a single by Kaci Peter, who scored on a single by Melinda Schaefer. Charlotte Schwabe walked and Megan Kies ran for her. Kies and Melinda Schaefer scored on a double by Ellie Sibbel, giving Kuemper a 4-0 win. The Knights added an unearned run in the 5th inning on a single by Ellie Sibbel. Elizabeth Lloyd gave Glidden Ralston a chance for an early lead in the 2nd inning, doubling with 1-out but the Wildcats weren’t able to drive in the run. Kaylie Diercksen started a 1-out rally in the 6th for Kuemper with a single. Myli Schaefer walked and Kaci Peter singled. Kaylie Wolterman drove in a run with a fielders choice and Charlotte Schwabe reached on an error, scoring 2. Ellie Sibbel came up with the Knights up 8-0 and two runners on and tripled to end the game.

Ellie Sibbel had 3 hits, including a double and a triple. Kaylie Diercksen had 3 hits with a double and scored twice. Kaci Peter added a pair of hits, driving in a run and scoring twice. Melinda Schaefer had an RBI and scored and Megan Kies scored twice. Charlotte Schwabe earned the win, going 6 inning, allowing 2 hits.

Elizabeth Lloyd doubled for Glidden Ralston and Tiela Janssen had a base hit.

Kuemper moves to 6-5 and will head to Creston for a varsity doubleheader on Monday. Glidden Ralston falls to 3-6 and heads to Woodbine on Monday.

Carroll ran into a buzzsaw in the semifinals as Collins Maxwell earned a 13-2 win in 5 innings. The Tigers had one hit from Parker Adams while Collins Maxwell earned 16 hits, putting pressure on the Tigers defense. They broke through in the 3rd inning, scoring 3-runs but blew the game open with an 8-run 4th inning. The Tigers earned a run in the 2nd when Emma Kuhlmann walked and scored on a passed ball. In the 4th inning, Parker Adams singled and scored.

Carroll took 3rd at the OABCIG Tournament with a comfortable win over Denison Schleswig. The Tigers scored early but didn’t separate until late, scoring 4-runs in the 7th inning. The offense collected 12 hits while Averi Burke allowed only 5 hits. A 2-run 1st inning gave Carroll momentum and they never trailed. The Tigers added a run in the 3rd and 4th innings, leading 4-0. Denison Schleswig trimmed the lead in half with a pair of runs in the bottom 4th inning but Carroll responded with a run in the top 5th.

Parker Adams and Emma Kuhlmann had big games at the plate. Kuhlmann had 3 hits, including a home run. She drove in 3-runs. Adams had a pair of doubles, helping her pick up 4 hits with 2 RBI. Analia Ayala tripled as part of a 2 hit day and scored twice. Bella Lu added a pair of hits. Kyla Owen stole 2 bases and scored 3-runs. Averi Burke earned the win, going 7 innings, allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts.

Carroll sits 6-9 and will host Winterset on Monday.

East Sac scored 14-runs on 8-hits with a pair of doubles as they cruised through their consolation round game to open their play on Saturday. The Raiders had seven different players collect a hit with four player driving in a run and eight scoring at least 1-run. Miranda Gerdes was strong in the circle, allowing 3 hits in 3 innings and not giving up any earned runs. The Raiders blew the game open in the 1st inning with 8-runs. Makenna Steiger started the inning with a double and the Raiders had eight straight hitters score. They put the game away with 6-runs in the bottom 3rd. Gracie Snyder started the rally with a walk and the first-four batters scored.

Denae Thayer paced the Raiders offense with a pair of hits and 2 RBI. Makenna Steiger and Kamryn Ross each had a double with Ross scoring twice. Jen Aschinger had 2 RBI and scored 2-runs and Kendall Quirk scored a pair of runs. Anna McCollough had a strong day with a base  hit, 2 RBI and scored twice. Gracie Snyder and Jamie Pierce both scored a pair of runs.

East Sac Vs Roland Story- 5th Place

The game slipped away from East Sac late as Roland Story scored 10-runs over the final 3 innings to win 12-0 in 6 innings. The Raiders played 16 girls, getting 3 girls experience in the circle. They ended the game with 3 hits with Denae Thayer, Sarah Bontrager and Jamie Pierce all having 1 hit. Kamryn Ross gave them a a fourth base runner, getting hit-by-pitch. Roland Story scored a pair of runs in the 1st inning and the game stayed that way until the 4th when they added 4-runs. A 5-run 6th inning allowed them to finish in 5th place.

East Sac is 5-5 after going 1-2 at the tournament over the weekend and will host Newell Fonda on Monday.
