Kuemper may have turned the corner on Thursday at home, beating a strong team in the Hawkeye 10 Conference, playing nearly flawless on defense and answering both of the Monarchs runs. The Knights scored in each of the first-three innings, taking advantage of some Denison Schleswig miscues.
Denison Schleswig scored first, using a pair of walks in the 1st inning and Knights error to take a 1-0 lead. Kuemper quickly responded with Evan Loew leading off the bottom 1st, taking 2nd on an error and moving to 3rd on a base hit by Ethan Loew. Benicio Lujano drove in Evan with a sac fly to left field. Tristan Janson settled in on the hill in the 2nd inning, getting the Monarchs in order and Kuemper took the momentum and scored in the bottom half. Carter Putney tripled to lead off the inning, then scored on a wild pitch. Carter Putney blew the game open in the 5th. He stepped to the plate with two runners on and 2 outs. Denison Schleswig missed an opportunity to get out of the inning just before he came up to bat. Putney quickly launched the ball deep over the right field fence, landing near the bleachers on the slow pitch softball field. Kuemper took a 5-1 lead into the 5th when Denison Schleswig used a single and three straight walks to score. Tristan Janson got out of a bases loaded jam with a strikeout to end the inning. Kuemper answered as Evan Loew reached on an error and scored on a single from Benicio Lujano, pushing the lead to 6-2. John Anthofer got out of a bases loaded jam in the top 7th to give the Knights the win.
Carter Putney lead the offense with a triple, 3-run home run, 3 RBI and scoring twice. Ethan Loew had a pair of hits and Benicio Lujano drove in a pair of runs. Evan Loew scored a pair of runs and John Boes had a base hit. Tristan Janson earned the win, going 5 innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts.
The Knights improve to 5-8 and will head to Red Oak for a doubleheader on Friday.

Carroll scored a run in each of the first-three innings but the offense went cold as Ballard built an 13-3 lead going to the 4th inning. The Tigers collected a pair of hits with Ryan North driving in two of their three runs. The defense had three errors, allowing 3 unearned runs, blowing the game open with an 8-run 2nd inning.
Ryan North drove in a run with a ground ball in the 1st inning, then earned his second RBI in the 3rd with a base hit. Jackson Gross scored on an error in the 2nd inning.
The loss drops Carroll to 2-6 overall and 0-6 in the Raccoon River Conference. Carroll hosts their tournament on Saturday, opening with Saydel at 10:00.

Audubon had played really well early, trailing 2-1 heading into the 4th inning but Tri Center started to pull away in the middle innings. Audubon tried to rally late but fell short as they fell to 0-10-1. They Wheelers finished with eight hits, scoring three-runs in the bottom of the 7th. Tri Center scored twice in the 4th and 5th inning, adding 3-runs in the 6th and 4-runs in the 7th.
The Wheelers got on the board in the 1st inning with Evan Alt knocking in Aaron Olsen. They trailed 2-1 after the 1st inning but fell down 9-1 in the top of the 6th. Aaron Olsen singled to centerfield, scoring Carson Meaike. Colton Hansen hit a sac fly in the 7th to score Evan Alt. Later in the inning Jack Stanerson drove in Adam Obrecht with a single and Carson Meaike scored moments later on a wild pitch.
Aaron Olsen, Jack Stanerson and Brody Schultes all had 2 hits with Stanerson doubling and driving in a run. Olsen scored and drove in a run. Carson Meaike scored twice and Karter Obermeier had a base hit.
The Wheelers head to AHSTW on Friday.

Coon Rapids Bayard scored in double figures for the third straight game, rolling to their seventh win of the season. They erupted for 14-runs in the 3rd inning, finishing the game with eight hits, thriving on thirteen walks and two hit-by-pitches. The Crusaders were strong on the base paths, going 10-10 in stolen bases with Kolby Culbertson stealing 5. The defense and pitching had a strong outing, holding the Wolverine hitless.
Cade Behrens pitched 2 1/3 innings with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks. He added a pair of hits and 3 RBI. Tyler Mohr earned the win, going 1 2/3 innings, walking 3 and striking out 4. Mohr had a pair of RBI with one base hit, Parker Hays drove in a pair of runs and walked 3 times. Ty Heydon had their only extra base hit with a double. Kolby Culbertson scored 3-runs and stole 5 bases. Cal Heydon scored twice as did Jace Baker while Max Shirbroun drove in a pair of runs.
The Crusaders improved to 7-5-1 and will host CAM on Friday.

IKM-Manning looked in trouble late, falling behind 7-2 and trailed 7-3 going into the 7th. Kasche Huehn started the rally and ended the rally as they scored 5-runs in the bottom of the 7th, scoring the game winner with 2-outs to win 8-7. Jace Starman homered for the second straight game. The Wolves tied the game at 2 in the 1st inning but fell down 4-2 in the 2nd inning, then watched the Vikings add 3 more runs over the next two innings. Karsyn Lorenzen and Lane Sams shut the door on the mound, allowing the team to get some momentum.
Kasche Huehn reached on an error to lead off the bottom 7th and was followed by Lane Sams reaching on an error. Jace Starman was intentionally walked to load the bases. Bryc Summerfield picked up a base hit to right, scoring a run. Tristan Barry added an RBI single, Brock Kusel walked in a run and Ross Kusel was hit-by-pitch. The Wolves had the game tied with the bases loaded with Kasche Huehn batting for the second time in the inning. He walked to score Tristan Barry with the game winner.
Bryc Summerfield and Tristan Barry both had a pair of hits with Summferfield scoring twice. Jace Starman had a home run and drove in 2-runs. Kasche Huehn scored twice and drove in a run. Zander Richards went 5 innings, allowing 8 hits and 5 earned runs. He struck out 8. Lane Sams earned the win, pitching the 7th inning with 1 hit and 1 strikeout.
The Wolves are 6-5 overall as they head to Underwood for a doubleheader on Friday.
