Denison-Schleswig at Kuemper

The Kuemper Knights fall at home. Kuemper committed three errors, which led to three unearned runs. As a team, the Knights only recorded three hits. Neither team scored in the first inning. Denison-Schleswig took the lead in the top of the second inning, plating one run to lead 1-0. One more run came across for Denison in the third inning as their lead grew to 2-0. The Denison-Schleswig lead grew to 4-0 in the fourth inning. The score would stay the same as Kuemper went on to lose 4-0. Kaylie Dierckson, Morgan Masching, and Ally Sommerfeld each recorded hits for the Knights. Myli Schaefer went all seven innings in the circle, striking out nine Denison-Schleswig hitters. With the loss, Kuemper falls to 5-5. The Knights are back in action on Saturday against Glidden-Ralston.

Carroll at Ballard

The Carroll Tigers fell on the road at Ballard. Carroll put the ball in play, only striking out twice, but only picking up one hit. Ballard opened the game up with five runs in the bottom of the first off of four Carroll errors. Two more runs came across in the home half of the second as the Ballard extended their lead to 7-0. Ballard scored in every inning, and they would go on to win 11-0. Amanda Wardell recorded the only hit for Carroll and was the only batter to reach third base. Averi Burke pitched all four innings in the circle, giving up eight earned runs, but struck out two Ballard hitters. With the loss, Carroll falls to 4-9. The Tigers are back in action on Friday at the OABCIG tournament.

Tri-Center at Audubon

The Audubon Wheelers pick up their sixth straight win with a home victory over Tri-Center. The Wheelers hit the ball well, recording ten hits. The Wheeles struck first with two runs in the home half of the first inning. Two more runs came across in the bottom of the second for Audubon, as they would lead 4-0 going to the third. Neither team would score in the third and fourth innings, as the score would stay 4-0 in favor of the Wheelers. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Audubon scored six runs to end the game with a 10-0 victory.

Mattie Nielsen recorded three hits for the Wheelers and an RBI. Riley Miller and Addie Hocker each had a multi-hit game. Jordan Porsch, Taryn Petersen, and Michelle Brooks also recorded hits in the game. Miller and Porsch each recorded two RBIs. In the circle, Miller picked up the win, going all seven innings, giving up a hit and striking out 13 Tri-Center batters. With the win, Audubon moves to 9-3. The Wheelers are back in action on Friday in a varsity doubleheader against AHSTW.

IKM-Manning at AHSTW

The IKM-Manning Wolves held the lead early but fell on the road at AHSTW on Thursday. The Wolves scored the game’s first runs as they took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. AHSTW would tie the game up in the home half of the first at 1-1. The Wolves would regain the lead in the top of the second, plating two runs and taking a 3-1 lead. Neither team would score in the third inning as the Wolves held on to a 3-1 lead. AHSTW would take the lead back in the bottom of the fourth inning, plating four runs and taking a 5-3 lead. Now trailing, the Wolves would cut into the AHSTW lead, making the score 5-4 in the fifth. The Vikings would extend their lead in the home half of the fifth with two more runs. AHSTW added two more in the sixth as they would go on to beat IKM-Manning 9-4.

Alikxa McGinn went 1-3 with a solo home run. Keagan Eischeid went 2-2 with a run scored. Hannah McKinney, Karlee Arp, and Emma Branning also recorded hits for the Wolves. Ella Richards picked up the loss in the circle, going six innings and giving up seven earned runs, but struck out two AHSTW hitters. With the loss, IKM-Manning falls to 2-10. The Wolves are back in action on Friday against Underwood.

East Sac County at Storm Lake St. Mary’s

The East Sac County Raiders offense exploded for seven extra-base hits and ten total as they went on to win in three innings over Storm Lake St. Mary’s. ESC opened the game up with six runs in the first inning, coming off of two hits. There were four St. Mary’s errors in the inning. Eight more runs came across in the third inning for the Raiders as they would open up a 16-0 lead over Storm Lake St. Mary’s. ESC went on to win 16-2.

Makenna Steiger was 2-3 with a double and two runs scored for East Sac County. Anna McCollough was fantastic at the plate, going 3-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Jamie Pierce was 1-3 with a triple. With the win, ESC improves to 4-3. The Raiders are back in action on Friday at the OABCIG tournament.
