The Kuemper Knights led most of the game but fell on the road to Harlan on Monday. The Knights picked up nine hits a team and did a good job of putting the ball in play against a good Harlan team. Both pitchers started hot as the game would be scoreless going to the third inning. The Knights were able to strike first as they plated one run in the top of the third off of two hits. Mason Knerl pitched well for Kuemper, letting his defense work behind him. With a 1-0 lead Kuemper would add more in the fourth inning. The Knights picked up three more runs in the fourth off of four hits. Ethan Loew, Tristan Janson, Aaron McDermott, and John Boes each recorded a hit in the inning. The Knights would take a 4-0 lead going to the home half of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Harlan loaded the bases, but Kuemper worked out of the jam to keep the score at 4-0. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Harlan plated six runs, sending 11 batters to the plate. The six runs came on four hits. The Knights walked a batter and hit three more in the inning. The Knights were unable to score in the top of the seventh despite having a runner in scoring position as they would go on to lose 6-4.

Mason Knerl went five-plus innings for the Knights on the hill. Knerl gave up five earned runs and eight hits. Knerl also struck out three Harlan hitters. Benicio Lujan went 2-4 at the plate of Kuemper. John Boes was 2-3 with a pair of singles. Carter Putney, Ethan Loew, Tristan Janson, and Aaron McDermott also picked up hits in the game. Kuemper falls to 3-7 and 1-1 in the Hawkeye Ten with the loss. The Knights continue a busy week as they are back in action on Tuesday in a varsity doubleheader against St. Albert.

The Carroll Tigers traveled to Boone Monday but fell on the road in a close ball game. Boone led the whole game despite Carroll making a late rally. In the bottom of the first inning, Boone was able to plate two runs to take an early 2-0 lead over Carroll. Neither team scored in the second, third, and fourth innings, as the score would stay the same at 2-0 going to the fifth inning. In the home half of the fifth inning, Boone was able to extend their lead to 5-0, scoring three times. In the top of the sixth inning, Carroll cut into the Boone lead, plating a single run making the score 5-1. The seventh inning got interesting as Carroll scored three times. The Tigers had runs at second and third with one out but were unable to push the tying run across. Carroll would go on to lose 5-4. With the loss, Carroll falls to 1-5. The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday against Glidden-Ralston.

Linkin Weitl suffered the loss on the hill, going five innings and giving up five earned runs on eight hits. Weitl also picked up two strikes. Carter Essick and Landon Petersen were both 2-4 with an RBI. Ryan North was 1-2 with a triple. Stone Sibenaller was 1-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI. With the loss, Carroll falls to 1-5. The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday against Glidden-Ralston.

The South Central Calhoun Titans extend their winning streak to three games with a win over Manson Northwest Webster. The Titans led the whole game and hit the ball well, picking up ten hits as a team. Neither team scored in the first inning. South Central Calhoun took the early lead, plating one run in the second, taking an early 1-0 lead. Again, neither team scored in the third as SCC would hold on to a 1-0 lead going to the fourth inning. In the top of the fourth, the Titans would add on to their lead, plating a couple of runs to take a 3-0 lead. The Titans would score in every inning to end the game. SCC plated one run in the fifth, added four more in the sixth, and two more runs in the seventh inning. The Titans would go on to win 10-1.

In the win, Kaden Dorman went 3-5 with an RBI for SCC. Andrew Anderson continues to hit the ball well for SCC. He went 2-4 with a triple. Marshall Bundt was 2-4 with 2 RBI for the Titans. Brock Nattress, Caleb Juhl, and Charlie Nattress recorded the other hits for SCC. Bundt picked up the win on the hill, going five innings, giving up a run, and striking out six. With the win, SCC improved to 4-4. The Titans are back in action on Wednesday against West Bend-Mallard.

Pocahontas Area at East Sac County

The East Sac County Raiders have dropped three straight with a loss at home to Pocahontas Area Monday. The Raiders fell down early as the Indians scored a couple of runs to take an early 2-0 lead. East Sac County responded with a run in the home half but still trailed 2-1. Neither team scored in the second and third innings as PAC would hold on to a 2-1 lead going to the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Raiders took their first lead of the game, plating two runs to lead 3-2. Pocahontas Area would retake the lead in the top of the fifth inning. The Indians scored two runs to take a 4-3 over ESC. PAC would add three more runs in the sixth and would go on to win 7-3.

As a team, East Sac County picked up six hits. Bradyn Burns went 2-4. Karter Ludwig, Jack Gullett, Landon Sporrer, and Mason Carlson also recorded hits in the loss. Ludwig went four innings on the mound, suffering the loss. Ludwig gave up five hits and four earned runs and struck out three PAC hitters. With the loss, ESC falls to 1-5. The Raiders are back in action on Wednesday against GTRA.

The Ar-We-Va Rockets played their best game of the year, but they fell on the road to Exira-EHK. The Rockets collected 11 hits as a team, with four going for extra bases. Ar-We-Va led for a large portion of the game. In the home half of the first inning, Exira-EHK plated a run to take an early 1-0 lead. Ar-We-Va grabbed the lead in the top of the second, scoring a couple of runs to take an early 2-1 lead. Neither team scored in the third and fourth innings as the Rockets would hold on to a 2-1 lead. The lead would extend for Ar-We-Va in the top of the fifth to 3-1. Exira-EHK took the lead back in the home half of the fifth, plating nine runs and taking a 10-3 lead. Ar-We-Va would score a run in the seventh but would go on to lose 10-4.

Wyatt Ragaller, Weston Toft, Damon Thomsen, and Grant Wilken each recorded multi-hit games. The Rockets recorded four doubles in the loss. Blayne Smith, Wade Ragaller, and Johnathan Riesselman also recorded hits. Wyatt Ragaller took the loss on the mound, going four-plus innings and giving up five earned runs and seven walks. Ragaller also struck out six Spartan hitters. With the loss, Ar-We-Va falls to 0-2. The Rockets are back in action on Tuesday against CAM.

Coon Rapids Bayard used two huge innings to pull away from Glidden Ralston which saw their defense turn a nifty triple play in the 2nd inning but walked 14 and had 3 errors. The Crusaders scored 11-runs in the 3rd inning on 2 hits and a pair of Wildcats errors. They batted 17 guys in the inning with 9 walks and a hit-by-pitch. They added 8-runs in the 5th inning, collecting 4 hits, using 4 walks and a Wildcat error, batting 13 guys. The highlight for Glidden Ralston came in the 2nd inning when Lucas Christian caught a fly ball in left field with runners on 2nd and 3rd. The Wildcats were able to throw out the Crusader runner at the plate, then got the runner that was on 2nd trying to take 3rd to end the inning with a nifty triple play. 

Cal Heydon had a pair of hits with a home run, 2 RBI and scoring 3 times. Kolby Culbertson drove in 4-runs, highlighted by a triple, adding 3-runs scored. Caden Oswald drove in 2-runs, Cade Behrens scored 3-runs, Max Shirbroun added a pair of RBI and earned the win, going 4 1/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts. Leegan Sease scored twice. 

Jonathan Bergmeier doubled while Mark Lensch, Alex Daniel and Waylon Hein all had singles for Glidden Ralston. 

The Crusaders improved to 5-5-1 with a road game with Stanton on Tuesday. Glidden Ralston falls to 1-6 and will host Carroll on Tuesday.

Bryc Summerfield pitched a strong game as the Wolves continued a strong start to the season on the mound, but a few missed chances early haunted the Wolves as Treynor scored 3-runs in the middle innings to earn a 3-0 win. Summerfield held the Cardinals to 4 hits while the Wolves collected 4 hits. He struck out 4 and didn’t walk anyone. The Wolves baserunners came early in the game but they weren’t able to string hits together to score a run. Treynor took the lead with a run in the 4th, adding 2 more in the 5th. 

Lane Sams and Jace Starman both had 2 hits for the Wolves. 

The loss drops them to  4-5 as they host Audubon on 93.7 KKRL on Tuesday.

The Audubon Wheelers fall on the road Monday to Logan-Magnolia. Neither team scored in the first and second innings. Logan-Magnolia scored the game’s first run, taking an early 1-0 lead in the third inning. Two more runs each would come across in the fourth and fifth innings for Logan-Magnolia. They would take a 5-0 lead over Audubon. Four more runs in the sixth grew the lead for Logan-Magnolia to 9-0. Audubon added a run in the seventh inning but would go on to lose 9-1.

As a team, the Wheelers recorded three hits. Brody Schultes was 2-3, and Aaron Olsen recorded a single with an RBI. Adam Obrecht suffered the loss, going four-plus innings. Obrecht gave up three earned runs and struck out four Logan-Magnolia batters. With the loss, Audubon falls to 0-8. The Wheelers are back in action on Tuesday against IKM-Manning.
