The East Sac County Raiders pick up their third straight win as they go on the road and beat Alta-Aurelia. As a team, ESC recorded 13 hits in the win. The Raiders took an early lead in the first inning, scoring two runs. East Sac added three more runs in the top of the second inning, extending their lead to 5-1. The highlight of the second inning was a two-run home run by Jamie Pierce. Five more runs came across in the fourth inning for East Sac County. Jamie Pierce hit another two-run home run in the inning as the Raiders extended their lead to 10-1. Neither team scored the rest of the game, and ESC went on to win 10-1.

Jamie Pierce went 2-3 at the plate with two home runs and four RBIs. Kendall Quirk was 3-4 with a double for East Sac County. Makenna Steiger, Jen Aschinger, and Denae Thayer each recorded multi-hit games. Jade Gustavson went five innings in the circle for ESC. Gustavson picked up a strikeout and only gave up three hits. With the win, East Sac County improved to 3-1. The Raiders are back in action on Monday against Pocahontas Area.

The IKM-Manning Wolves fall on the road to a good Logan-Magnolia team. The Wolves picked up three hits in the game. Anna Stangl went 1-3 with a double at the plate. Karlee Arp and Emma Branning recorded the other hits for IKM-Manning. Ella Richards went four innings in the circle, suffering the loss. Richards also gave up eight hits and six earned runs while striking out one Logan-Magnolia batter. IKM-Manning would go on to lose 10-0. With the loss, the Wolves fall to 2-7. The Wolves are back in action on Monday against Treynor.

Missouri Valley at Audubon

The Audubon Wheelers dropped another close game to a good ball club on Thursday, losing to Missouri Valley. Missouri Valley entered the game, ranking in the top five in class 1A. The Wheelers had their chances to take the lead late but were unable to score with runners in scoring position. At the top of the first inning, Missouri Valley plated a couple of runs to take an early 2-0 lead. In the home half of the second inning, the Wheelers cut into the Missouri Valley lead, plating a solo run to make the score 2-1. The Wheelers tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning. Neither team scored in the fourth and the fifth inning. Missouri Valley regained the lead in the top of the sixth inning scoring twice to go ahead 4-2. Audubon would again cut into the lead as a run came across for the Wheelers in the home half of the sixth, making the score 4-3. Missouri Valley added to their lead in the seventh, making it a two-run game again at 5-3. In the bottom of the seventh Audubon was able to plate a run to cut the lead to 5-4. With the bases loaded and two outs, the Wheelers could not push a run across as they would go on to lose 5-4.

The Wheelers recorded six hits as a team in the matchup. Riley Miller went 2-3 at the plate and drew a walk. Taryn Petersen was 2-2 with two runs scored for the Wheelers. Michelle Brooks and Alexis Obermeier recorded the other hits for Audubon. Miller went all seven innings in the circle, giving up eight hits, three earned runs, and striking out nine Missouri Valley batters. With the loss, Audubon falls to 3-3. The Wheelers are back in action on Saturday at the Atlantic tournament.

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats wrapped up a hectic week with a loss at home to Ogden. Glidden-Ralston took a lead into the fourth inning but ran into trouble with pitching. The Wildcats took the lead in the home half of the first inning, plating a single run to make the score 1-0. Ogden tied the game up at 1-1 in the top of the third inning. Glidden-Ralston would take the lead back, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third to make it a 4-1 ball game. In the top of the fourth inning, Ogden scored 21 runs. Glidden-Ralston would go on to lose 22-4. As a team, the Wildcats recorded six hits from six different players. Jaelyn Subbert went 1-2 with a double. Subbert also pitched three-plus innings, giving up eight hits and striking out five Ogden hitters. Kassidy Wenck, Tiela Janssen, Ashlynn Tigges, Elizabeth Lloyd, and Allison Snyder all singled in the game. Glidden-Ralston has dropped three straight games, bringing their record to 2-4. The Wildcats are back in action on Monday against Coon Rapids-Bayard.

Boyer Valley at Coon Rapids-Bayard

The Coon Rapids Bayard Crusaders pick up their second win of the season at home against Boyer Valley. The Crusaders led the whole game. Neither team scored in the first inning. In the home half of the second inning, Coon Rapids-Bayard scored the first runs of the game, plating a couple of runs to take a 2-0 lead. The third inning would be scoreless. CRB extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning at 3-0. Boyer Valley’s first run came in the fifth inning as they cut into the CRB lead at 3-1. The Crusaders scored five runs in the home half of the fifth to blow the game open at 8-1. CRB added another run in the sixth as they went on to win 9-3.

As a team, the Crusaders recorded five hits. CRB put the ball in play against Boyer Valley, only striking out once. Breeley Claybur was 1-3 with a double and two RBIs. Brooklynn Burmeister singled. Amelia Eddy and Aubrey Hofbauer each tripled in the game. Anna Hart went seven innings in the circle for CRB, giving up two earned runs but striking out 12 Boyer Valley hitters. With the win, CRB improved to 2-2. The Crusaders are back in action on Saturday at the West Central Valley tournament.
