Ridge View at Kuemper

The Kuemepr Knights picked up six hits, but it wasn’t enough as they fell at home to Ridge View. Neither team scored in the first inning. In the top of the second Ridge View added two runs to take an early 2-0 lead over Kuemper. Ridge View would grow their lead to 3-0 after another run came across in the third inning. In the home half of the third, Kuemper plated two runs to cut into the Raptors lead. Kuemper scored their two runs on two hits. The inning was highlighted by a Benicio Lujano double. The score would stay the same as neither team scored in the fourth inning. Ridge View would hold onto a 3-2 lead over Kuemper going to the fifth. The Raptors extended their lead back to two runs and would lead 4-2 going to the home half of the fifth. With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Mason Knerl worked a walk to get on base. Knerl would come around to score on a single by Lujano to make the score 4-3. Ridge View would add a run in the top of the sixth to make the score 5-3. The Knights were unable to score in the bottom of the sixth and the seventh as they would go on to lose 5-3.

Benicio Lujano went 3-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ethan Loew, Josh Langel, and Tristan Janson recorded the other hits for Kuemper. The Knights put the ball in play, but only struck out three times in the game. Carter Putney suffered the loss on the hill, going three innings and striking out two hitters. John Anthofer and Max Schon each pitched two innings for Kuemper. With the loss, the Knights fell to 2-4. Kuemper will be back in action against Atlantic on Friday.

Carroll at Carlisle

The Carroll Tigers suffered a road loss at Carlisle on Thursday. Carroll pitched well but gave up a seven-run inning, which led to the lopsided score. The Wildcats scored the game’s first runs, taking a 1-0 lead. In the top of the third inning, Jake Jorgensen hit a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. Carlisle regained the lead in the bottom of the third, plating one run to go ahead 2-1. The game blew open in the home half of the fifth as Carlisle scored seven times, taking a 9-1 lead. Carroll would not go down without a fight as they scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning but would fall on the road 9-3.

As a team, Carroll collected six hits. Defensively, the Tigers committed three errors, which led to four unearned runs. Jake Jorgensen went 1-3 with a home run and an RBI. Tate Schleisman was 2-2 in the game. Braxton Lu, Ryan North, and Carter Essick each recorded a hit. Stone Sibenaller suffered the loss on the hill, going four innings but striking out six Carlisle batters. With the loss, Carroll falls to 1-4 and 0-4 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers are back in action on Monday against Boone.

The South Central Calhoun Titans pick up a road win and their first win in program history over Ogden on Thursday. The Titans only scored in two innings. Ogden got the scoring going early as they plated the first run of the game at the bottom of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead. The Bulldog’s lead would grow in the home half of the second as they would take a 2-0 going to the third inning. Neither team scored in the third inning. In the top of the fourth inning, SCC exploded for seven runs as they took their first lead of the game at 7-2. Ogden, who was now trailing, cut into the South Central Calhoun lead, scoring another run to make the score 7-3. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Bulldogs took back the lead, scoring six runs giving them the advantage 9-7 going to the seventh inning. South Central Calhoun responded, plating three runs in the top of the seventh, taking a 10-9 lead. In the home half of the seventh, Andrew Anderson struck out the side, and SCC went on to win 10-9.

As a team, the Titans recorded ten hits. Andrew Anderson went 2-3 at the plate with a double. Caleb Juhl also had a multi-hit game, going 2-4 with two RBIs. Brock Nattress, Kaden Dorman, Charlie Nattress, Marshall Bundt, Cooper Nattress, and Aiden Albright all singles in the game. Anderson picked up the win on the hill, striking out five hitters. Carson Shaver pitched five innings, striking out seven Ogden batters. SCC has won two in a row as they improve their record to 3-4. The Titans are back in action on Friday against Sioux Central.

Postponements

Coon Rapids-Bayard at Audubon

The game was suspended, tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth due to weather. Coon Rapids-Bayard scored the first run of the game when Tyler Mohr sac bunted, which brought in Cade Behrens from third. The CRB lead would grow to 2-0 when Ty Heydon drew a walk, scoring Leegan Sease from third. Audubon cut into the lead when Aaron Olsen scored on scored on an error to make it 2-1. The tieing run for Audubon came across the plate in the bottom of the fifth when Carson Wessel singled driving in Aaron Olsen to make the score 2-2. No date has been scheduled to continue the game at this time.

The game never was started due to weather. It will be made up as a doubleheader on June 14th in Manilia
