Baseball Results Wednesday, May 29th 

Kuemper At Underwood

Kuemper played well against the top ranked Eagles, but fell short on the road, falling to 2-3 on the season. The Knights received a solid pitching performance from Mason Knerl, allowing 5 hits in 6 innings. The Eagles did most of their damage in the 2nd inning after Kuemper had taken a 1-0 lead. A leadoff triple by Ryker Adair started the flury with Nick Hackett driving him in with a single, Gus Bashore reached on a fielder’s choice and Easton Robertson walked. Both scored on a double by Luke Seidler. That erased Kuemper’s 1-0 lead. John Boes was hit-by-pitch in the top 2nd and scored on a base hit by Tristan Janson. The Eagles added a run in the 4th when a Kuemper error put a runner on base and Luke Seidler doubled again to score their fourth run. Kuemper was poised to rally in the 6th inning with Ethan Loew leading off with a single. Evan Loew added a single and John Boes reached on an error. Ethan Loew was thrown out between 3rd and home for the 2nd out of the inning. Kuemper loaded the bases when Mason Knerl walked but Underwood got out of the inning unscathed. The Knights went down in order in the 7th.

The Knights stranded 7 runners on base while collecting 4 hits. Ethan Loew had a pair of hits and Evan Loew and Tristan Janson both had a single. Janson drove in a run and John Boes scored their run. Mason Knerl took the loss, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.

The Knights sit 2-3 overall and will look to bounce back at home against Ridge View on Thursday.

Bondurant Farrar At Carroll

Carroll fell behind early and weren’t able to recover, falling at home in six innings to Bondurant Farrar. The Tigers committed thee errors, which led to 5 unearned runs for the Bluejays helping get off to a quick start. They scored twice in the 2nd inning, adding 3 more runs in the 3rd. The lead was 6-0 for Bondurant Farrar when Tate Schleisman scored for the Tigers in the bottom of the 4th inning. Schleisman got on with a base hit and scored on a Bondurant Farrar error. The Bluejays responded with a 4-run 5th inning and another run in the 6th to end it.

Jackson Gross, Ryan North and Tate Schleisman each had a hit for Carroll. Schleisman scored their run. Linkin Weitl took the loss, going 4 innings and 7 hits, while allowing 3 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.

The loss drops Carroll to  1-3 as they prepare to head to Carlisle on Thursday.

GTRA At South Central Calhoun

South Central Calhoun got a great start on the hill from Charlie Nattress and got a big hit late from Cooper Nattress to score the game winner in the 7th inning. Caleb Juhl singled with two outs in the 7th and stole 2nd base, setting up the game winning hit. Cooper Nattress scored him from 2nd base on a base hit. The Titans improved to 2-4 on the season, thanks in part to Charlie Nattress. He held GTRA in check all game, allowing 4 hits and no earned runs in a complete game. Nattress struck out 8 and walked 4. Charlie Nattress drove in Kaden Dorman in the 1st inning to give South Central Calhoun a 1-0 lead. They held the lead into the 3rd when GTRA scored an unearned run to tie the game at 1. It stayed that way into the 7th as South Central Calhoun was able to get runners on base, finishing with 10 hits, including a double by Andrew Anderson but weren’t able to drive anyone home.

Caleb Juhl had a team high 3 hits and stole a pair of bases. Kaden Dorman and Charlie Nattress both had a pair of hits with Dorman scoring a run and Nattress driving in a run. Cooper Nattress and Aidan Albright added a base hit with Cooper driving in the game winning run. Charlie Nattress allowed 4 hits and no earned runs with 8 strikeouts.

The Titans head to Ogden on Thursday on KIKD 106.7.

The Raiders out hit the E-Hawks 8 to 3 but fell 8-5 as they walked 12 and hit 2 more. A 3-run 1st inning gave the Raiders a little wiggle room but Emmetsburg responded with a 5-run 2nd inning and held the lead until East Sac tied the game in the bottom 5th with a run. Similar to early in the game, the E-Hawks answered the Raiders with a run in the 6th, getting the bases loaded and battling for a walk. East Sac was down 1 and had the 6th and 7th to try and score but Emmetsburg extended the lead in the 7th with a pair of runs, helped by a pair of walks to start the inning. Back-to-back sacrifices helped them extend the lead. East Sac did have a baserunner in the 6th and 7th but weren’t able to get the clutch hit.

Jack Gullett had a team high 3 hits, adding 3 RBI and scored twice. Bradyn Burns and Karter Ludwig both had 2 hits with Burns scoring and Carter Erritt had a hit. Luke Wright drove in a run and Luke Wernimont scored a run.

The loss drops East Sac to 1-3. They head to Alta-Aurelia on Friday.

Ar-We-Va opened their season with a Tiger team that was 4-0 heading into the game. The Tigers took advantage of the Rockets youth, scoring in four of the five innings. They used a 6-run 5th inning to end the game early. Ar-We-Va finished with three hits, scoring all 3 of their runs in the 4th inning. The Tigers had built a 8-0 lead with 2-runs in the 2nd inning, 4-runs in the 3rd inning and 2 more in the 4th. Ar-We-Va responded in the bottom 4th but couldn’t stop the Tigers in the 5th inning.

Wyatt Ragaller, Derek Thomsen and Weston Toft all had base hits with Toft and Ragaller scoring a run. Damon Thomsen added a run scored. Blayne Smith took the loss, going 4 2/3 innings, allowing 8 hits with 7 earned runs.

It was a tough night for Glidden Ralston as CAM had their offense going, collecting 13 hits and scoring 18-runs with 9-runs in the bottom 4th inning ending the game. The Wildcats hit the ball well, finishing with 7 hits and scoring 3-runs. CAM blew the game open with 7-runs in the 2nd inning, building a 9-0 lead. Neither team scored in the 3rd. Glidden Ralston went up 2-0 in the 1st inning and the game was tied 2-2 after the 1st inning.

Jonathan Bergmeier and Mark Lensch continue to hit the ball well as both guys had 2 hits with Bergmeier driving in a pair of runs and Lensch doubling and driving in a run. Blayce Nelson, Waylon Hein and Collin Sturm all had 1 hit and scored a run.

The loss drops Glidden Ralston to 0-5 as they prepare to host Exira-EHK on Friday.
