Woodbine At Ar-We-Va

Woodbine 6

Ar-We-Va 0

Ar-We-Va played very well minus the top of the 5th inning when three errors led to six unearned runs and a deficit they weren’t able to overcome. The defense had been sharp all game and Amber Ragaller was keeping a strong Tiger offense in check. Woodbine loaded the bases in the 1st inning but didn’t score as Ragaller struck out the final batter to get out of trouble. Woodbine stranded two in the 2nd inning, then the defense and Ragaller took over. Hallie McCollough had a great running catch down the line in right field in the 3rd and Ragaller faced seven batters in the 3rd and 4th inning combined. Offensively the Rockets were struggling but stranded a runner at 2nd in the 2nd and left two on base in the 3rd.

Back-to-back errors in the top of the 5th started the landslide and Woodbine used a sac fly on a nice running catch in centerfield by Gabbie Hundling, a pair of hits and another Rocket error. Woodbine sent nine batters to the plate in the 5th, scoring 6 unearned runs. Ar-We-Va looked to answer but didn’t get a baserunner over the final three innings.

Emma Leiting singled in the 3rd for the Rockets lone hit and Mollie Leiting and Delaney Schurke walked and were hit-by-pitch respectively were their only other baserunners. Amber Ragaller went the distance, allowing 8 hits and no earned runs with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks.

The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 0-1 as the Rockets host CAM on Friday on KIKD 106.7.
