Kuemper earned a home win on Tuesday, scoring 5-runs in the bottom 6th to blow open a pitching dual. The Knights hadn’t had a baserunner since the leadoff batter in the 2nd inning, but collected five hits in the 6th and used a pair of Tiger errors to send nine batters to the plate. Carroll had a chance to grab a lead in the 3rd inning, loading the bases with no outs on a pair of walks and a Knight error. Ellie Sibbel tracked down a passed ball and flipped it to Myli Schaefer in time to tag out Bailey Bowman at the plate for the 1st out. Schaefer then induced a pop up in the infield and struck out the final out of the inning. Averi Burke kept inducing easy to play balls for the Tigers defense, getting the Knights in order in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings. Myli Schaefer was cruising for the Knights. She struck out four in the 1st inning and struck out 3 more in the 2nd, stranding two Tigers on base. Carroll left 2 on in each of the first-three innings, then didn’t get a baserunner the rest of the game as Schaefer set them down in order each of the final four innings. Myli Schaefer struck out 14 and allowed 2 hits.

Carroll struck in the 1st inning with Kloee Jones striking out but reaching 1st base. She stole 2nd and moved to 3rd on an error before stealing home. Kuemper answered in the bottom of the 1st with Kaci Peter singling, stealing 2nd and scoring on a base hit by Charlotte Schwabe. Myli Schaefer walked in the 2nd but was the Knights last base runner until the 6th. Chloe Gehling led off the 6th with a single and took 2nd base on an error. Kaci Peters singled and took 2nd base. Morgan Masching had a bunt single to load the bases. Gehling was forced at home on a ground ball to Olivia Rowedder at shortstop. Kuemper had the bases loaded with one out when Kaylie Diercksen came to the plate. She singled up the middle, scoring Peter and Masching, putting Kuemper up 3-1. Charlotte Schwabe moved to 3rd and scored later on a passed ball. Allison Ostrander came in to to run for Myli Schaefer, who had singled. Ostrander stole home on a double steal with Melinda Schaefer taking 2nd base. That pushed the Knights lead to 6-1. Myli Schaefer got Carroll in order in the top 7th, inducing a popup to 1st base to end the game after getting a pair of strikeouts.

Mylie Schaefer allowed 2 hits for Kuemper while striking out 14 with no earned runs and 3 walks. Kaci Peter had a pair of hits and scored twice. Kaylie Diercksen had 2 RBI with a base hit. Charlotte Schwabe had a base hit and drove in a run while Morgan Masching and Myli Schaefer each had a hit.

Emma Kuhlmann and Bella Lu each had a hit for Carroll hit and Kloee Jones scored a run. Averi Burke took the loss, pitching very well. She went 6 innings, allowing 7 hits and 5 earned runs with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Kuemper moves to 3-2 and will host Atlantic on on KIKD on Wednesday. Carroll falls to 1-4 and will host Bondurant Farrar on KKRL on Wednesday.

Underwood At Audubon

Audubon earned their second win of the season, cruising at home against Underwood. The Wheelers allowed 3 unearned runs in the 1st inning but responded with a pair of runs in the bottom 1st and took the lead for good with 2 more in the bottom 2nd. The Wheelers offense was sharp all game, scoring in every inning but the 3rd. They collected 13-hits with a pair of doubles and drove in 10 of the 11-runs they scored. The speed throughout the lineup created issues for the Eagles with Audubon consistently putting pressure on the defense. They stole 5 bases in the game but forced Underwood to have to make plays by taking extra bases and getting into scoring position. After a couple early miscues that allowed all 3 Eagle runs the defense was sharp, finishing with only 2 errors and Jordan Porsch through out both runners trying to steal.

Jordan Porsch picked up her 100th career hit, finishing with a team high 3 hits. Mattie Nielsen, Alexis Obermeier and Michelle Brooks all had 2 hits with Nielsen scoring twice, Obermeier driving in a run and Brooks adding a pair of runs scored. Taryn Petresen scored 3 times and Addie Hocker doubled and scored twice. Gemini Goodwin drove in 3-runs during the win as the Wheelers moved to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Western Iowa Conference. Alexis Obermeier earned the win in the circle, going 4 innings, allowing 6  hits and 0 earned runs with 3 strikeouts. Riley Miller finished the game off with 3 innings and no hits allowed while striking out 6.

The Wheelers will head to Treynor on Wednesday.

Glidden Ralston blew open a tight game with a 9-run 6th inning to earn a win on the road on Tuesday. The Wildcats were tied 5-5 with the Warriors through 5 innings before erupting in the 6th. Alta-Aurelia tried to rally back scoring 4-runs in the 6th inning and 2 more in the 7th inning but it wasn’t enough. Glidden Ralston collected 11 hits with 5 extra-base hits, with 4-doubles and a home  run. They drove in 11 of their 14-runs, helped out with 6 walks and 7 hit-by-pitches. Both teams scored early with Glidden Ralston taking a 5-2 lead into the bottom 3rd, thanks in part to a 2-run home run by Elizabeth Lloyd. They scored 4-runs in the top 3rd but Alta-Aurelia answered with 2 in the bottom 3rd and 1 more in the bottom 4th to tie the game at 5.

Ashlynn Tigges had a team high 3 hits with a pair of doubles, a pair of RBI and 2-runs scored. Kassidy Wenck, Tiela Janssen and Jaelyn Subbert all  had 2 hits, Wenck added a double with 2 RBI and 2-runs scored, Janssen scored twice and had an RBI and Subbert had a double with 2 RBI and a run-scored. Elizabeth Lloyd hit her first home run of the season, driving in a pair of runs. Brileigh Bock scored twice. Jaelyn Subbert earned the win, going 7 innings, allowing 10 earned runs with 10 strikeouts and 10 walks.

The Wildcats are 2-1 and will travel to CAM  on Wednesday.

IKM-Manning at Missouri Valley

The IKM-Manning Wolves fell on the road Tuesday to a good Missouri Valley team. The Wolves were no-hit in Tuesday’s matchup. IKM-Manning played well, only giving up runs in three innings. Missouri Valley took the lead and scored the game’s first runs in the home half of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Neither team scored in the second inning. Missouri Valley extended their lead by scoring two more runs in the third to make the score 4-0. Six more runs came across for Missouri Valley in the fourth inning as they went on to win 10-0. IKM-Manning only had one runner reach base. Anna Stangl reached on a walk. Ella Richards went four innings in the circle, walking three batters. With the loss, IKM-Manning falls to 2-5. The Wolves are back in action on Wednesday against Panorama.
