Coon Rapids Bayard At Kuemper

In a game that took nearly 4 hours and featured 23 walks and 7 hit-by-pitches combined, Kuemper scored on a bloop base hit by Ethan Loew, scoring Carter Putney with the game ender in the bottom 8th. Both teams rallied throughout the game with Coon Rapids Bayard taking a 5-2 lead into the bottom 4th. Kuemper responded with a 5-run bottom of the 4th to lead 7-5. Both teams batted 10 hitters in the 4th inning that featured a combined 7 walks and 2-hit-by-pitches. Coon Rapids Bayard responded with a 3-run 6th to take a 8-7 lead but Kuemper tied it in the bottom 6th. Coon Rapids Bayard erupted for 5-runs in the top 7th and looked to be in control with Cade Behrens driving in a pair of runs with a single. For the second time in their first-three games, Kuemper scored 5-runs in the bottom of the 7th. This time it tied the game at 13. The Knights took advantage of 5 walks and a  hit-by-pitch in the 7th, tying the game on a walk with the bases loaded. Coon Rapids Bayard put runners on 1st and 2nd in the 8th but weren’t able to score as Max Schon shut the door with help from Carter Putney making a great adjustment on a deep fly ball from Cal Heydon. The Knights came up in the 8th and got a lead off walk by Mason Knerl who was thrown out at 3rd base after stealing 2nd and trying to take 3rd when the ball went into centerfield. Carter Putney walked on the play, then stole 2nd base. Coon Rapids Bayard intentionally walked Benicio Lujano and Ethan Loew hit a bloop to shallow center. Kolby Culbertson charged in and dove to make the catch but the ball bounded away and Putney scored the game winner with 2-outs.

Benicio Lujano finished with 3 hits, 3 RBI and scored twice for Kuemper. Evan Loew added a pair of hits and Tristan Janson scored twice. Max Schon earned the win for Kuemper, going 1 2/3 innings.

Cal Heydon had 3 hits for Coon Rapids Bayard with a double, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Cade Behrens had a pair of RBI and Leegan Sease scored a pair of runs.

The Knights improved to 2-1 and head to Woodbury Central on Friday. Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 2-4 and will play at Audubon on Thursday.

Carroll held North Polk to three hits in the game, but five errors helped the Comets score 10 unearned runs. North Polk ended the game early, finishing off the Tigers with 3-runs in the bottom of the 4th, then holding Carroll scoreless in the 5th to end it. The 3rd inning was disastrous for Carroll, allowing 7-runs to fall behind 10-0. Carroll was no hit in the game, getting three baserunners with Jake Jorgensen getting hit-by-pitch and Linkin Weitl walking. Chase Ragaller reached on a error and stole a base as did Jorgensen.

The loss drops Carroll to 0-2 as they prepare to face Woodward Granger on Friday at Merchants Park.

The two teams combined to score 15 of the 16-runs in the first-four innings with Boyer Valley building a 6-1 lead through 2 innings before adding 3-runs in the 4th inning to lead 10-5. The Wolves tried to rally with 4-runs in the 3rd inning but weren’t able to score again.

Jace Starman had a pair of doubles with an RBI. Ross Kusel and Lane Sams both had a pair of hits with Sams driving in 3-runs and Kusel scoring once.

The loss drops IKM-Manning to 2-1 overall. They head to Tri Center on Friday.

Audubon scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning but Riverside took control scoring a pair of runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings before blowing it open with a 7-run 5th inning. The Wheelers battled, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5th to extend the game but Riverside added 3-runs in the 6th and then ended it in the bottom half. The Wheelers were out hit 12-4 and the Bulldogs used 8 walks and 3 hit-by-pitches to keep the pressure on Audubon.

Aaron Olsen, Brody Schultes, Carson Wessel and Ely Jorgensen all had a hit with Jorgensen doubling. Olsen and Wessel scored.

The loss drops Audubon to 0-5 as they host Underwood on Tuesday.

South Central Calhoun collected 10 hits, helping them score 13-runs with 4-runs in the top of the 9th, giving them their first win of the season. The Titans offense was consistent, scoring in four of the first-five innings, rallying from down 8-4 after 3 innings to a tie game after 5 innings.  SE Valley used a 6-run 2nd inning to build a 7-4 lead, then added a run in both the 3rd and 4th innings. After the early fireworks the teams went scoreless until the 9th when South Central Calhoun erupted for 4-runs.

Marshall Bundt was big, collecting 4 RBI on 2 hits. He also pitched 3 innings, striking out 5. Kaden Dorman doubled as part of a 2 hit night. He scored 3-runs. Andrew Anderson doubled and scored 4-runs while picking up the win in 3 innings with 7 strikeouts. Aidan Albright had 2 hits and scored twice. Cooper Nattress drove in a pair of runs.

The win improves the Titans to 1-3 as they improve to 1-3 heading into Friday game at Pocahontas Area.

East Sac received good pitching from Carter Erritt and Luke Wright, combining to strikeout 7 while giving up 7 hits and 1 earned run. The defense struggled to get off the field, allowing Cherokee to score 3-runs in the 3rd and 4th inning to pull away in a tight game. The Raiders collected 4 hits but couldn’t string them together.

Carter Erritt, Karter Lugwig, Luke Wernimont and Zach Johnson all had a hit with Ludwig and Wernimont each stealing a base. Erritt went 4 innings, allowing 4 hits and no earned runs while striking out 3.

The l0ss drops them to 0-2 heading into Friday’s game at home against Manson NW Webster.
