The Carroll Tigers are still looking for their first win of the season after a home loss to number one North Polk Thursday. Carroll’s pitching struggled against a good team. The Tigers gave up 19 hits and 16 runs, 11 of those were earned runs. As a team, Carroll picked up three hits. Amanda Wardell picked up a double. Emma Kuhlmann and Analia Ayala recorded the other hits for Carroll. The Tigers would go on to lose 16-0 to North Polk in five innings. With the loss, Carroll fell to 0-2 and 0-2 in the Raccoon River Conference. Carroll is back in action on Saturday at the Ogden tournament.

The East Sac County Raiders pick up a come-from-behind win over Cherokee on Thursday for their first win of the season. The Raiders fell behind early, but they were able to battle back at home. Cherokee picked up one run on one hit in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead over ESC. The Raiders were unable to score in the home half of the first. In the top of the second, Cherokee extended their lead by plating three runs to make the score 4-0. Two more runs came across the plate for Cherokee in the third inning as they quickly grew a 6-0 lead over the Raiders. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Raiders bats came alive as they picked up six runs from four hits. A KeInningQuirk home run highlighted the inning. Jamie Pierce and Kamryn Ross each doubled in the inning. Neither team would score in the sixth inning, with the game tied at 6-6. In the home half of the seventh, the Raiders quickly picked up two outs. A single by Denae Thayer kept the inning alive. The top-of-the-order Jamie Pierce followed. Pierce picked up a triple, which brought in Thayer for the winning run. With the walk-off hit, ESC went on to win 7-6.
Jamie Pierce went 2-5 with two extra-base hits and an RBI. Kendall Quirk was 1-4 with a homerun and an RBI. As a team, the Raiders picked up nine hits. Miranda Gerdes picked up the win in the circle, going six innings, giving up five hits but striking out eight Cherokee batters along the way. With the win, ESC improves to 1-1. The Raiders are back in action on Wednesday against Emmetsburg.

The South Central Calhoun Titans struggled on the road Thursday against Southeast Valley. The Titans only picked up one hit as a team. Southeast Valley scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. They added seven more in the second and six more in the third. SCC fell on the road 15-0 to SE Valley. Riley Jacobs recorded the lone hit for the Titans. With the loss, SCC falls to 0-2. The Titans are back in action on Friday against Pocahontas Area.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders hit the ball well Thursday but fell on the road to Madrid in softball action. The Crusaders recorded two quick outs at the top of the first inning but quickly responded by plating four runs to take an early 4-0 lead. In the home half of the first inning, Madrid bounced right back, plating nine runs to take a 9-4 lead. Both teams pitching picked up the rest of the game. In the top of the third inning CRB added another run to cut into the Madrid lead at 9-5. The Crusaders scored another run in the fifth inning but went on to lose 12-6.
As a team, the Crusaders picked up eight hits. Malia Clayburg went 4-4 at the plate with a triple. Maddy Mason went 2-3 with a double for CRB. The other hits came from Anna Hart and Breeley Clayburg. The Crusaders committed five errors on defense, which led to eight unearned runs. Anna Hart pitched five-plus innings for the Crusaders, striking out 11 Madrid hitters. With the loss, CRB fell to 0-2 at the start of the season. The Crusaders are back in action on Wednesday against Colo-Nesco.

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats fall at home Thursday to a good ACGC ball club. ACGC scored a run in the top of the first inning and the second to take a 2-0 lead over the Wildcats. The Charger’s lead quickly grew as they added two more runs in the third inning to make the score 4-0. Three more runs crossed the plate for ACGC in the top of the fourth as their lead grew to 7-0. The first Glidden-Ralston run came in the home half of the fourth inning. ACGC grew their lead to 9-1 in the sixth inning. The Wildcats added another run in the bottom of the sixth but went on to lose 9-2.
As a team, Glidden-Ralston recorded six hits in the game. Jaelyn Subbert and Olivia Squibb each recorded an RBI for the Wildcats. Subbert and Squibb also recorded a hit. The other hits came from Brileigh Bock, Ashlynn Tigges, Elizabeth Lloyd, and Allison Snyder. Subbert went all seven innings in the circle for Glidden-Ralston. Subbert struck out seven ACGC batters while only giving up four hits. With the loss, Glidden-Ralston falls to 1-1. The Wildcats are back in action on Tuesday against Alta-Aurelia.

The Audubon Wheelers played a great game Thursday, recording double-digit hits and throwing a no-hitter. Neither team scored in the first inning, as the game would be tied going to the second. Audubon opened the game up in the home half of the second, plating four runs to take a 4-0 lead. The Wheelers added two more runs in the third inning to extend their lead to 6-0. The lead continued to grow for Audubon, with one run going across in the fourth and three more in the fifth. The Wheelers would go on to mercy rule Riverside, winning 10-0 in five innings.
As a team, Audubon recorded 15 hits. Alexis Obermeier went 2-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Six different Wheeler players recorded multiple hits on Thursday. Taryn Petersen recorded a double for the Wheelers. Michelle Brooks picked up two RBIs. Riley Miller was outstanding in the circle, pitching five innings and striking out nine. Miller also recorded a no-hitter against Riverside. With the win, Audubon improves to 1-1. The Wheelers are back in action on Tuesday against Underwood.

The IKM-Manning Wolves pick up their first win of the season with a mercy rule victory over Boyer Valley Thursday. IKM-Manning got the scoring going early with a five spot in the bottom of the first to make the score 5-0. The Wolves added two more runs in the second and another two spot in the third to go up 9-0. The Boyer Valley runs came in the fourth and fifth innings. IKM-Manning scored one run in the bottom of the fifth to put the game away with a score of 12-2, as a team IKM-Manning recorded eight hit. Alikxa McGinn recorded four hits, two of which were doubles. Anna Stangl went 2-4 for the Wolves in the win. The other hits came from Emma Branning and Hannah McKinney. With the win, the Wolves improved to 1-1. IKM-Manning is back in action on Friday against Tri-Center.
