The Carroll Tigers opened the season with a close loss at home to ADm Wednesday. The Tigers came out aggressive with the bats. ADM scored a run in the first inning off of a lead of triple and a sac fly. Going to the bottom of the first inning, Carroll came out swinging as Jake Jorgensen, Stone Sibenaller, and Carter Essick picked up three hits. Carroll sent six batters to the plate, scoring two runs to take a 2-1 lead. Ryan North reached base on an error and later came around to score in the inning. Linkin Weitl worked out of a jam in the second inning as Carroll held on to a 2-1 lead. Carroll extended their lead in the second inning on a sac fly from Jake Jorgensen that scored Trey Tassell. 

The offense went silent for Carroll over the course of the game, as they only scored one run over the last five innings. Carroll went in order in the third and fourth innings but still held on to a 3-1 lead. In the home half of the fifth inning, Jake Jorgensen recorded a triple on a ball that hit off the center field fence. The very next at-bat, Stone Sibenaller drove Jorgensen home on a sac fly. The top of the sixth is an inning to the Tigers wish they could have gotten back. ADM picked up a couple of hits and took advantage of a walk and hit-by a pitch to score four runs to take a 5-4 lead going to the seventh inning. Carroll did not go down without a fight. In the bottom of the seventh, Linkin Weitl reached on an error and advanced to second on the throw. Trey Tassell followed that up with a base hit to left and went to second on a throw to third. Carroll had two runners in scoring position with no outs to start the home half of the inning. The next three batters recorded an out, and Carroll went on to lose 5-4. 

As a team, Carroll picked up six hits on four runs and did not commit an error on defense. The Tigers pitched well against ADM. Linkin Weitl went five-plus innings and recorded four strikeouts. Stone Sibenaller came on in relief and picked up two strikeouts. Jake Jorgensen went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI at the plate. Carter Essick was 1-2 with an RBI. Sibenaller was also 1-3 at the plate with an RBI. With the loss, Carroll falls to 0-1. The Tigers are back in action on Thursday against North Polk.

ACGC at Coon Rapids-Bayard

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders pick up a much-needed win on Wednesday at home against ACGC. ACGC started the game by scoring three runs right away in the top of the first inning. The Crusaders cut into the ACGC lead in the home half of the first, picking up a run to make the score 3-1. The Chargers added another run in the top of the second inning to extend their lead to 4-1. CRB had some ground to make up in the home half of the second, down three runs. The Crusaders were able to time the game up, picking up three runs to make the score 4-4 going to the third inning. Neither team scored in the third, and ACGC would regain the lead in the fourth at 5-4. In a back-and-forth game, CRB would tie it up again in the fifth at 5-5. The bottom of the sixth is when the game blew open as the Crusaders would score seven runs and go on to win 12-5 over ACGC. 

Coon Rapids-Bayard picked up five hits in the game on 12 runs scored. CRB was patient at the plate and recorded 12 walks as a team. Parker Hays went 2-3 and picked up two RBIs. Ty Heydon, Jace Baker, and Caden Oswald also recorded a hit in the game. Heydon and Oswald also recorded two RBI’S. With the win, CRB improved to 2-3. The Crusaders are back in action on Thursday against Kuemper.

South Central Calhoun at West Bend-Mallard

The South Central Calhoun Titans hit the ball well Wednesday but struggled defensively as they fell to West Bend-Mallard. The Titans took an early lead in the game as they scored one run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. West Bend-Mallard responded with four runs in the home half of the first to take a 4-1 lead. The Titans tied the game up in the top of the second with three runs to make the score 4-4. Both offenses started strong. West Bend-Mallard regained the lead at 5-4 going to the third inning. The lead grew for West Bend-Mallard, adding two more runs in the third. Both teams went scoreless in the fourth and the fifth as West Bend held on to a 7-4 lead. SCC cut into the lead again at the top of the sixth inning, adding a run to score 7-5. West Bend-Mallard responded by plating five runs in the home half of the sixth to make the score 12-5. In the top of the seventh inning, SCC added four more runs but lost 12-9. 

The Titans picked up ten hits as a team. Andrew Anderson, Caleb Juhl, Charlie Nattress, and Cooper Nattress all recorded multiple hit games for SCC. Kaden Dorman and Brock Nattress also picked up hits for the Titans. As a team, SCC picked up five walks and recorded four hit-by-pitches. With the loss, SCC falls to 0-3. The Titans are back in action on Thursday against Southeast Valley.

The IKM-Manning played a well-rounded game Wednesday, pitching and hitting great to pick up their second win of the season against Stanton. The Wolves scored in every inning but two. IKM-Manning pitched a scoreless top of the first and then scored two runs in the home half, leading 2-0 early. Neither team scored in the second inning. Stanton chipped into the lead, scoring a run in the top of the third inning to make the scorer 2-1. IKM-Manning would respond with three runs in the home half of the third to extend their lead to 5-1. Both teams were unable to score in the fourth inning as the score stayed 5-1. IKM-Manning added another run in the fifth and three more in the sixth to go on and win 9-1. 

As a team, the Wolves finished with ten hits. Bryc Summerfield recorded three hits for the Wolves. Branden Fuchs and Jace Starman also picked up two hits each. Ross Kusel, Tristin Berry, and Lane Sams recorded the other hits for IKM-Manning. Bryc Summerfield went four-plus innings on the hill for IKM-Manning, striking out four hitters. With the win, IKM-Manning improved to 2-0 on the season. The Wolves are back in action on Thursday against Boyer Valley.

Audubon At Treynor

Audubon struggled to get the bats going, picking up four hits in the game as Treynor scored in every inning, slowly pulling away before ending the game with a 3-run bottom of the 6th. The Wheelers struck in the 2nd inning with Ely Jorgensen scoring, pulling the Wheelers to within 2-1. The Cardinals scored twice in each of the first-two innings going up 4-1, then scored a run in the 3rd with two more in the 4th and a run in the 5th. They led 8-1 going into the bottom 6th. They score 3-runs to end the game. 

Brody Schultes, Carson Wessel, Adam Obrecht and Colton Hansen all had base hits with Ely Jorgensen scoring their lone run. Adam Obrecht took the loss on the hill. 

The Wheelers sit 0-4 on the season and will host Riverside on Thursday.
