Mason Reicks At State Tournament- Class 1A Singles

Mason Reicks of Kuemper bounced back well after falling to the second seed Kaden Branum of Decorah in the opening round. Reicks lost in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, moving to the backside of the bracket, where he picked up some confidence and steam. He earned a comfortable 6-3, 6-1 win over Kaden Timm of South Tama in the 1st round consolation, cruising in set two after a small struggle in set one. He then faced Tate Neymeyer of Alington Parkersburg/Dike New Hartford in his 3rd match of the day. Neymeyer was the 4th overall seed and had won in the opening round, before falling in the quarterfinals. Reicks did a nice job using the momentum from his win and didn’t allow Neymeyer to regain his momentum after his loss in the quarters. He earned a 6-3, 6-3 win.

Reicks will play in the consolation semifinals on Thursday morning around 9:30 against Ruimin Luo of Fairfield who is 2-1 at the State Tournament.
