The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats fell at home Monday to Madrid in five innings. The Wildcats faced a good pitcher, striking out 14 times and getting no hit. Madrid scored in all five innings. Madrid scored one run in the first inning and added another in the second to lead 2-0. Colby Wallace went three innings on the hill for the Wildcats. Madrid scored four runs in the third and added another five in the fifth to go on and win 2-0 over Glidden-Ralston. Wallace stuck out five Madrid hitters through three innings of work. With the loss, Glidden-Ralston falls to 0-2. The Wildcats are back in action on Tuesday against South Central Calhoun.

The Audubon Wheelers fell at home Monday to Earlham as they are still looking to pick up their first win of the season. Neither team scored in the first two innings, as both pitchers started the game strong. Earlham took an early lead in the third inning as they scored the game’s first run. The Cardinals added another run in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 2-0. The Wheelers committed five errors in the game, which led to two unearned runs. Earlham extended their lead in the fifth inning to 3-0. Earlham added three more runs in the sixth inning to lead 6-0. The Wheelers would not score in the seventh and would go on to lose 6-0.
Aaron Olsen went five innings on the hill for the Wheelers, striking out three and giving up two walks. Olsen also only gave up one earned run. Audubon picked up five hits as a team. Olsen, Colton Hansen, Ely Jorgensen, Adam Obrecht, and Evan Alt all recorded a base hit in the game. With the loss, Audubon falls to 0-3 on the season. The Wheelers are back in action on Tuesday against AHSTW.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders fell at home Monday to Ogden. Despite the score, CRB pitched well in the game as Kolby Culbertson pitched five-plus innings. The Crusaders led for most of the game. Coon Rapids-Bayard took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring one run. Neither team scored in the second inning as the Crusaders would hold on to a 1-0 lead going to the third inning. CRB extended their lead in the bottom of the third inning by scoring two more runs to make the score 3-0. Ogden would add a run in the top of the fifth inning to cut into the Crusader lead. The Bulldogs would continue to add runs late in the game as they scored three in the sixth and four in the seventh to take an 8-3 lead. CRB did not score in the home half of the seventh as they would fall at home 8-3.
Kolby Culbertson pitched well for the Crusaders, striking out 12 Ogden hitters over five-plus innings of work. Offensively, CRB only managed four hits. Parker Hays picked up an RBI double and recorded another RBI on a sacrifice fly. The other Crusaders’ hits came from Caden Oswald, Cal Heydon, and Cade Behrens. Ty Heydon picked up an RBI on a squeeze bunt play in the third inning. With the loss, CRB falls to 1-3. The Crusaders are back in action on Tuesday at home against Southeast Warren.
