Area Girls Tennis Results For Monday, April 6th
Kuemper at Spencer
The Kuemper Knights punch one ticket to the state girls’ tennis tournament following regional action on Monday. In singles play, Kaylie Simons picked up a win in the opening round 2-0 (6-0, 6-2) to advance to the quarterfinals. Simons would win in the quarterfinals and semifinals to advance to the championship round. In the championship round, Simons won 2-0 (7-5, 6-1) to punch a ticket to the state tournament. Ella Schwarte went 2-1 at the meet, going 30-12 in games played. In doubles action, Brooke Rohe and Sophia Tidgren lost their opening round 2-1 (5-7, 6-4, 5-7). Julia Craig and Charlotte Schwabe went 1-1 in doubles, going 20-15 in games played on Monday.

The Audubon Wheelers did not send a singles or doubles team to the state tournament on Monday but had a good showing at Atlantic. In doubles, Grace Zaiger and Sammy Warnaca lost their opening round in two sets. Ava Slater and Gery Anderson went 1-1, winning their opening round matchup 2-1. The duo lost in the quarterfinals 2-0. In singles plays, Rachael Rynearson lost her opening round match in two sets. Briley Belnap won her pigtail match 2-0 to get into the brackets. Belnap won her opening-round matchup in two sets. In the quarterfinals, Belnap lost three sets. Audubon is back in action on Friday against St. Albert at Denison-Schleswig.
