The IKM-Manning School Board on Monday night voted unanimously to terminate the contract of Hall of Fame Softball Coach Joy Gross. The board listened to supporters of Coach Gross for nearly and hour and a half in a session that wasn’t open to the public. They discussed the matter privately before reconvening in the public meeting and voting. In a roll call vote, the board voted 6-0 to terminate her contract effective immediately and also stated in the motion that a review of the entire athletic program needed to be done. Coach Gross has nearly 720 wins in her Hall of Fame career. She told Carroll Broadcasting after the vote that she was “very disappointed” as her only statement. School Board members were not available for comment and Carroll Broadcasting will reach out to them to try and get a comment on Tuesday. There was no announcement or discussion on who will coach this season or the reason for the termination.
